Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Soaking Goji Berries in a Thermos

"We wouldn’t dare, we wouldn’t dare!"

"Master Rockwell, please, you’re giving us too much credit. In front of President Fairchild, we’re just small fries."

"Come, come, President Fairchild, please have a seat."

Evan Fairchild sat in the seat of honor. The lighting was dim, his figure nearly swallowed by the shadows, but his dignified and inviolable aura was omnipresent.

"This place has a great ambiance!" Jasper Rockwell looked around. It wasn’t divided into individual private rooms, but rather partitioned by plants. This made it less stuffy while still providing privacy, like sitting in the middle of a forest.

’No wonder they also call it an oxygen bar.’

Although it was a bar, it wasn’t actually noisy.

There was just one lounge singer, humming a folk song along with the melodious music.

Several bottles of liquor were on the table. To properly host Evan Fairchild, the men had specifically ordered the most expensive alcohol in the house.

They had heard that Evan Fairchild owned a private winery abroad, so he was surely a connoisseur.

One of the men opened a bottle and stood up to pour a drink for Evan Fairchild.

Evan Fairchild suddenly raised a hand to block him, and the man froze.

"I quit."

Jasper Rockwell almost swallowed his lollipop, stick and all!

"Like hell I believe you! You, quit drinking?!"

Evan Fairchild shot a look at Jasper Rockwell.

"I believe you, I believe you."

The man who was pouring the drink laughed awkwardly and pulled the bottle back. "Alcohol is bad for your health, so it’s better not to drink anyway."

"You come to a bar and don’t drink? If you’re so worried about your health, you should be drinking goji berry tea!" Jasper Rockwell snapped his fingers.

A waiter immediately came over. "Sir."

"Get President Fairchild a cup of goji berry tea. And remember, use a thermos." After saying this, Jasper Rockwell laughingly popped the lollipop back into his mouth, picked up a glass, and poured one for himself. "Come on, everyone, let’s drink."

The men on the side were breaking out in a cold sweat.

’Does President Fairchild look like he needs goji berries in a thermos?!’

’Master Rockwell is taking this joke a little too far.’

When Melody Monroe arrived at the bar, her eyes were immediately drawn to the peacocks.

"They’re actually real peacocks!" She walked closer, taking a better look. "This place is so beautiful. Is this wisteria real? I don’t think it’s the right season for it, but even if it’s fake, it looks incredibly lifelike."

She walked under the floral trellis, tilting her head up to look at the twinkling lights that resembled stars.

’For a bar, this place has so much style.’

Rose Shaw hadn’t arrived yet, so Melody Monroe didn’t go inside, waiting at the entrance instead.

Her phone suddenly rang.

"Rose, I’m here."

"Something came up suddenly. I might be about half an hour late. You go on in, everyone else is already there. You’ve met Director Wendy before."

"Oh, okay." Melody Monroe nodded.

"Don’t drink too much. I’ll get there as fast as I can."

"Mm."

Melody Monroe hung up and walked into the bar.

A waiter immediately came forward to lead the way.

Evan Fairchild suddenly turned his head to look in a certain direction. A figure appeared in his line of sight for just a second before being obscured by an object to the side.

’It was Melody Monroe.’

’He didn’t know why he was so sensitive to this woman’s presence.’

’He remembered her name, what she looked like, and even her scent. She was just like the woman from that beautiful, lingering dream of his. Her appearance made the dream—which he had almost forgotten—vivid once again.’

That was the first time in his life he’d ever been hungover.

When he woke up, all that remained was that dream, which felt both real and illusory.

And that was why he had quit drinking.

Melody Monroe followed a waiter to a booth.

The men in the booth all turned to look at Melody Monroe. The man sitting furthest inside had a flash of stunned admiration in his eyes, his gaze lingering on her.
