Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Making an Enemy, a Simple Matter
’But she still knew a few things about Melody Monroe. Her sugar daddy, for instance, might just be Jedediah Scott, the chairman of the Scott Group!’
’Hmph! To think Melody Monroe actually came back... I never would have imagined it. The second female lead went to someone else, yet Melody is willing to play a bit part!’
’It’s just a shame that accident didn’t ruin her face!’
...
With Melody Monroe not around, Raymond Ford seemed to be back to her usual self. After wrapping up the day’s shoot, she returned to her hotel.
Leah Young immediately went to draw a hot bath, as Raymond Ford loved to relax with a good soak.
"Zane Langdon still hasn’t confirmed his schedule? As expected of a top-tier star. Even Director Wallace is so polite with him. The production has been shooting for almost a month, but no one dares to rush him. And to think Zane is so young, yet he’s already reached such a high status in the entertainment industry," Raymond Ford mused, sitting on the sofa.
Who was the hottest star right now? It had to be Zane Langdon, without a doubt.
What actress wouldn’t want to star opposite him?
Based on status alone, Raymond Ford wasn’t qualified. But she was the newcomer Stellaris had been heavily promoting for the past year or two, which was why Rose Shaw had managed to snatch this role from so many other competitors.
’By riding on Zane Langdon’s popularity, she was sure to make it big.’
’Then, her position would be even more secure.’
"Raymond, Rhona Hughes came to the set today, too. Too bad she didn’t run into Melody Monroe," Leah Young said, sitting across from Raymond Ford. "Why do you think she hates Melody so much?"
"That’s hard to say. In this business, it’s hard enough to make a friend. If you want to make an enemy, though? That’s as easy as pie."
"I don’t think Rhona Hughes is going to let Melody Monroe off the hook."
"And you think Melody Monroe is a pushover?" Raymond Ford thought back to the look in Melody’s eyes, a lingering fear still prickling at her heart.
The way Melody had looked at her made her feel as if she’d been cursed!
"What’s the status of that thing I asked you to arrange?"
"I’m already gathering dirt on her. For someone like Melody Monroe, there’s plenty of scandalous material out there." Leah Young had an expression that said, ’Just you wait and see.’
...
When Melody Monroe woke up, it was already past one in the afternoon. As she sat up, her head felt heavy and dizzy.
’People really shouldn’t stay up late,’ she thought. ’And I ended up staying up even later... I pulled an all-nighter!’
"Melody, you’re awake?" Talia Mercer walked in, carrying some food. "Should I order a meal for you? The hotel’s Chinese restaurant is pretty good."
"What’s that you’re carrying?" Melody Monroe could already smell the delicious aroma.
"Just some street food I picked up while I was out buying toiletries."
"Have you eaten? If you have, I’ll just have these. Ordering a meal is too much trouble."
"I’ve eaten already, but... are you sure you just want to eat this?"
"What’s wrong with this?" Melody Monroe headed to the bathroom. After washing up, she came out, sat down at the table, and opened the bag.
Talia Mercer quickly poured a glass of water and placed it in front of her.
Melody Monroe was just so easy to get along with. She didn’t put on any airs at all. Talia Mercer had been working for over three years, and she had never met someone so approachable.
’Stellaris’s compensation for newcomers is actually pretty good. Melody really doesn’t need to be so hard on herself!’
She had also discovered that Melody Monroe was extremely frugal. Unlike other celebrities, she wasn’t extravagant. In fact, she was even better at managing her money than Talia herself. What surprised her even more was that Melody actually kept a small ledger.
Melody had even canceled all her credit cards and sold off some unworn clothes, living a very simple life.
Her cosmetics went from high-end luxury lines straight to drugstore brands. All the money she saved was put away into savings.
