Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Extreme Makeover: Green Tea Puppy

Yvonne Lowell found it rather amusing. ’The aloof CEO has been radically transformed into a manipulative puppy? What a concept.’

"Hey, stop playing the victim. When did I ever take your innocence?"

Leo Grant’s eyes widened slightly. "You still won’t admit it? It was just now, in the pool!"

Yvonne Lowell was stunned for a moment. "What on earth did I do to take your innocence?!"

"You hugged me! And you touched me!" Leo Grant said, his face a mask of accusation.

"Oh, you hugged me too. We’re even," Yvonne Lowell said with a shrug.

Leo Grant looked at her reproachfully. "We’re not even. You also touched me. You have to take responsibility."

"If we’re keeping score, you were the one who grabbed my hand first back at Comet. And I haven’t even accused you of being a creep."

"I admit it. And I’m perfectly fine with taking responsibility for you, too." A smile played on Leo Grant’s lips.

Yvonne Lowell laughed in exasperation. ’Are you trying to set a trap for me?’

"Of course not. I’m just stating the facts."

Yvonne Lowell didn’t answer. She stood up. "Hmph, I’m hungry. Let’s go eat. Then you’ll take me home. I hereby declare you’ve been banished to the cold palace."

Leo Grant smiled and followed her out, an inscrutable look in his eyes.

After dinner at the villa, the two of them headed back.

It was almost ten o’clock by the time they reached the Lowell residence. Yvonne Lowell unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out of the car when Leo Grant grabbed the hem of her clothes.

She found it a little funny. "What’s this? Can’t bear to let me go?"

"Yeah," Leo Grant said, his lips pressed together.

Yvonne Lowell raised her hand and ruffled his hair, which had been resting neatly on his forehead. "Alright, I’ll see you when I’m free. Be good, okay?"

With that, she yanked her clothing free and got out of the car.

Leo Grant watched her walk through the door, a determined glint in his eyes.

’Tsk, Little Marshmallow, I have all the patience in the world to play this game with you.’

...

The moment Yvonne Lowell opened the door and stepped inside, she saw Harrison Lowell sitting on the sofa. His drooping, puppy-dog eyes lit up when he saw her. "Nola, you’re back."

"Yeah. It’s so late, why aren’t you in bed yet, Harrison?"

’Isn’t it because I was afraid you’d run away and never come back...’

"Oh, it’s still early. I’m not that tired."

Yvonne Lowell gave him a teasing look. ’What he’s saying and what’s written all over his face don’t seem to match.’

Feeling a bit uncomfortable under Yvonne Lowell’s gaze, Harrison Lowell cleared his throat. "What is it? Is there something on my face?"

"Mhm, quite a lot, actually," Yvonne Lowell said with a straight face.

Harrison Lowell raised a hand and wiped his face. "How about now?"

"Still there."

A little skeptical, he opened his phone’s front-facing camera and saw nothing on his face but his own handsome reflection.

"Oh-ho, you’ve learned some bad habits! How dare you trick me?!"

Yvonne Lowell laughed. "I didn’t trick you. Isn’t ’I was terrified Yvonne Lowell was going to run away’ written all over your face?"

With that, she turned and dashed upstairs.

"Hey! Yvonne Lowell!" Harrison Lowell shouted, flustered and exasperated.

Yvonne Lowell stopped on the stairs and called down, "Harrison."

"What now!" Harrison Lowell looked up, glaring at her.

"You’re actually pretty cute." With that, she laughed, ran into her room, and closed the door.

Harrison Lowell was left alone in the living room, his face flushing red as he muttered to himself in embarrassed indignation, "Hmph, that brat! She really has picked up some bad habits. No respect for her elders at all. This is going to be the death of me! She’s not cute at all!"

...

Back in her room, Yvonne Lowell was just about to wash up when she was interrupted by the urgent ringing of her phone.

Seeing the caller ID on the screen, Yvonne Lowell’s eyes narrowed. She answered the call nonchalantly. "What is it?"

Whatever the person on the other end said, Yvonne Lowell’s expression turned cold. "Where are they?"

"Send someone to pick me up from Tidalview tomorrow morning."

After she hung up, a bloodthirsty smile touched Yvonne Lowell’s lips. ’I’ve found you.’

Early the next morning, Yvonne Lowell said goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Lowell, telling them she had to go back to handle some business at Pluto headquarters.

Although Wendy Sutton was reluctant to see her go, she understood that Yvonne wasn’t an ordinary 19-year-old. She had her own business to attend to, so Wendy didn’t say much.

Yvonne Lowell hugged her, then hugged Charles Lowell. "Mom, Dad, I’ll be back before Harrison’s variety show starts filming. If he gets mad, remember to help me calm him down."

"Hmph, why bother with him? He’s always stirring up trouble for no reason. If you have business to attend to, then go. He’s not a child anymore. If he dares to get mad at you, I’ll give him a good thrashing," Charles Lowell said, curling his lip in disdain.

"Alright, Dad, but I did promise him. I’m heading out now. I’ll bring you back gifts!" With that, she turned and left.

Yvonne Lowell drove to Tidalview and parked her car in the underground garage. She had just changed into more practical clothes when she heard the thrumming of helicopter rotors and headed toward the backyard.

For convenience, the area behind their three villas had been converted into a single helipad. Concealed by the buildings, very few people knew about it. It was rarely used unless there was an emergency.

The helicopter had just landed when Regan Knight jumped out. She affectionately linked her arm with Yvonne Lowell’s. "Lowell, surprise, surprise!"

"What are you doing here?" Yvonne Lowell asked, patting her on the head. As the only woman among her four confidants, Yvonne had always been a bit more lenient with Regan Knight.

"Leon said his men were all busy, so he asked us to send someone to escort you. I happened to be free, so I came," Regan Knight said with a pout.

Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. ’Tens of thousands of men, and not a single one is free? I suspect the drinker’s heart isn’t set on the wine, is it?’

But she didn’t call him out on it. Although Regan Knight was sharp, she was always dense when it came to matters of the heart. To this day, she still saw that old rascal as her mortal enemy.

’My people aren’t so easily wooed.’

"Let’s get going." Yvonne Lowell put an arm around her shoulder and walked toward the helicopter.

The helicopter ascended slowly, the buildings on the ground shrinking into the distance.

Meanwhile, Leo Grant heard the sound of the helicopter and looked out his window.

He saw a solid black helicopter rising from behind the villa across from his.

He froze for a moment. ’Could that be her? Where is she going?’

A knock came at the door, and Nolan Crawford walked in. "Leo, it’s time to go."

Leo Grant snapped out of his daze and walked out of the room.

...

「Six hours later.」

The helicopter landed at a base on the border of Country A.

Yvonne Lowell had just stepped out of the main building when a group of people approached her.

The man in the lead had Western features: dark green eyes and short, blond hair. ’He’s decent-looking,’ Yvonne thought, ’pity he’s not very bright.’

"Lowell, you’re finally here! Oh, and little Regan came with you." As he spoke, he reached out to ruffle Regan Knight’s hair.

Regan Knight slapped his hand away. "Get lost!"

"Hiss—so fierce. Careful, or you’ll never get married," Leon said, wincing and clutching his hand.

Yvonne Lowell watched him with a cryptic half-smile, her eyes seeming to pierce right through him to his innermost thoughts.

Leon felt a chill run down his spine under her gaze. "Hehe, Lowell, let’s head inside first. Hehe, inside."
