Chapter 9: Little Treasure II

Life Bullet

Fires a bullet of Life Mana.

Instead of damaging the target, it restores 20% of the target’s maximum HP and removes minor injuries.

Can also be used offensively against Undead-type creatures, dealing 200% of the user’s Magic Attack as Holy damage.

Mana Cost: 20 MP per bullet.

"So Light Bullet can heal..."

"And Life Bullet is an even stronger healing skill."

Kaiser nodded in understanding.

Then he reached the last two.

Death Bullet

Fires a bullet infused with Death Mana that deals 170% of the user’s Magic Attack as damage.

Targets hit suffer continuous Life Force Erosion, taking an additional 20% Magic Attack as damage every second for five seconds.

Less effective against Undead and Construct-type enemies.

Mana Cost: 20 MP per bullet.

"That damage over time is pretty dangerous."

Kaiser muttered.

Finally, he opened the last one.

Time Bullet

Fires a bullet infused with Time Mana that deals 120% of the user’s Magic Attack as damage.

On impact, the target’s perception and movement speed are reduced by 50% for three seconds.

Targets significantly stronger than the user will experience a shorter duration.

Mana Cost: 50 MP per bullet.

Kaiser slowly closed the information window.

He couldn’t help smiling.

"It’s basically seven different skills disguised as one."

Looking at his tiny mana pool again, he sighed.

"I definitely need more MP before I can use these properly."

"And for that, I need to level up."

Kaiser stood up and headed to the bathroom. Before leaving, he picked up the little goblin and gave it a quick bath as well.

The tiny creature didn’t resist at all. Instead, it happily splashed around in the water.

Kaiser had decided to name it Ripple.

It wasn’t a majestic name, but looking at the palm-sized goblin, it was the first one that came to mind.

After drying Ripple with a towel, Kaiser placed him on his shoulder and headed downstairs for breakfast.

The moment his mother saw the little creature, her eyes lit up.

"Oh my God, is this cutie your bonded beast?"

Ripple sniffed the air.

Sensing a familiar scent from Kaiser’s mother, he immediately jumped onto her shoulder and rubbed his little head against her cheek.

His mother giggled and gently stroked his head.

"So it really is a Light Gnome."

Kaiser simply nodded.

Other than the tiny golden crown on Ripple’s head and the crimson pouch on his back, he looked almost identical to an ordinary Light Gnome.

As he grew older, however, the differences would become much more obvious.

His mother tilted her head.

"But what’s with the little crown and the bag on his back?"

Kaiser answered casually.

"He’s a King Variant."

"I guess that’s why."

His mother smiled.

"No wonder he has such a tiny crown."

She carried Ripple to the dining table while Kaiser took his seat.

A moment later, she poured a bowl of Beast Milk specially made for Light-element beasts and placed it in front of Ripple.

The little goblin immediately began drinking it happily.

"I bought it last night," she said with a smile.

"I thought your beast would need it after hatching."

Kaiser nodded gratefully.

"Thanks, Mom."

After breakfast, Kaiser stood up and grabbed his bag.

"Mom, I’m going to register with the Awakeners Association today."

"After that, I’ll probably visit the Slime Dungeon."

His mother wasn’t surprised.

The Slime Dungeon was one of the safest beginner dungeons in the city.

Most newly awakened people entered it to gain their first few levels and become familiar with combat.

She nodded.

"Okay."

"But be careful."

"I will."

After seeing his mother off to work, Kaiser returned to his room one last time.

He changed into a simple set of training clothes and put on a light jacket.

Then he picked up Bleeding Edge.

Although it was only an Uncommon-Rank sword, it was still far better than the wooden practice sword he had been using.

He fastened the sword to his waist before checking his belongings.

His phone.

His wallet.

His identification card.

Everything was there.

Ripple climbed from his shoulder onto his head before jumping back down again, curiously looking around the room.

Kaiser smiled.

"You really have a lot of energy."

"Ki!"

Ripple happily raised both hands.

Kaiser locked the front door and started walking toward the city center.

The streets were already busy.

Shops had opened for the day, and people could be seen heading to work.

Quite a few young awakeners wearing academy uniforms were also walking in the same direction.

Most of them had newly hatched beasts sitting on their shoulders or following closely behind.

Some had small wolves.

Others had rabbits, birds, foxes, or tiny lizards.

Ripple looked around with curiosity, observing every beast they passed.

Occasionally, many would glance back at him, seemingly confused by the tiny golden crown on his head.

While those who knew about the meaning of crown looked at him with envy after all, a king variant beast is much more powerful then a normal one.

About twenty minutes later, Kaiser arrived at a large building near the center of the city.

Above the entrance were three large silver letters.

Awakeners Association.

People constantly entered and left the building.

Some carried weapons stained with blood.

Others wore armor covered in scratches from recent battles.

A few teams were discussing their next dungeon expedition while support awakeners lined up to accept commissions.

Kaiser looked up at the massive building and smiled.

"Finally... I’m here."

Countless times after returning from the academy, he had walked past this building and imagined himself entering it as an awakener.

Now, that day had finally come.

He was no longer an ordinary student.

He was an awakened human, ready to register himself and enter his first dungeon.

Taking a deep breath, Kaiser walked inside.

The lobby was spacious, with dozens of reception counters lined up in front of him.

Awakeners came and went constantly, some accepting quests while others submitted materials or collected rewards.

Kaiser walked toward an empty counter.

The receptionist smiled politely.

"Good morning. How may I help you?"
