Chapter 6: Broken

Kaiser searched through them for a few minutes.

Eventually, he found an old sword wrapped in a faded cloth.

He slowly unwrapped it.

It was a one-handed longsword with a dark crimson blade.

Although it had clearly been maintained over the years, a few scratches could still be seen on its surface.

Its name was Bleeding Edge.

It was only an Uncommon-Rank weapon, but it held great sentimental value.

This had been his father’s first real reward after clearing his very first dungeon.

His father had carried it for years before replacing it with stronger equipment.

Even after obtaining much better weapons, he had never thrown Bleeding Edge away.

After his father’s accident, Kaiser’s mother had been forced to sell most of his expensive equipment to pay for hospital expenses.

His legendary armor, high-grade weapons, and valuable artifacts were all gone.

But she had never sold Bleeding Edge.

She knew exactly how much the sword meant to him.

Holding the weapon in both hands, Kaiser smiled.

"Sorry, Dad."

"I’m borrowing this for a little experiment."

He then opened his Cosmic Sheet and focused on his Talent.

"Reconstruction."

The moment he spoke, a faint golden light began gathering around his hand.

It slowly spread over the surface of Bleeding Edge.

Then, just as quickly as it appeared, the light vanished.

A notification popped up in front of him.

Insufficient Mana.

Kaiser blinked.

"So I don’t have enough mana..."

He looked down at the sword before putting it back into its cloth.

"I guess I really have to start from the bottom."

After thinking for a moment, he searched through the storage boxes again.

This time, he picked up an old broken dagger.

Its blade was chipped, and the handle was cracked.

It was only a Common-Rank weapon that had long since become useless.

Nobody would even buy it.

His mother had simply kept it because she thought it might be useful one day if Kaiser awakened a blacksmith or crafting Talent.

Kaiser held the broken dagger in one hand.

"Reconstruction."

Golden light covered the dagger.

Unlike before, the process continued without stopping.

A few seconds later, the light faded.

The broken dagger had completely changed.

The cracks were gone.

The chipped blade had become smooth and razor-sharp.

Even the metal looked stronger than before.

A notification appeared.

Reconstruction Successful.

Common-Rank Dagger → Uncommon-Rank Dagger

At the same time, Kaiser felt the mana inside his body rapidly drain away.

Within seconds, almost all of it was gone.

His Cosmic Sheet updated automatically.

Mana: 5%

"So even upgrading a Common-Rank weapon to Uncommon-Rank consumes ninety-five percent of my mana..."

Kaiser looked at Bleeding Edge, which was already an Uncommon-Rank weapon.

"No wonder I couldn’t reconstruct it."

"If upgrading one rank already costs this much, there’s no way I have enough mana to upgrade Bleeding Edge."

Even so, a grin slowly spread across his face.

He looked down at the dagger in his hand.

"Holy..."

"My Talent is actually broken."

"I just turned a Common-Rank weapon into an Uncommon-Rank one."

"If I can keep doing this..."

"...Then this Talent is far more terrifying than I imagined."

Kaiser’s eyes suddenly lit up.

"I can even buy Common-Rank items, reconstruct them into Uncommon-Rank ones, and sell them for a profit."

He quickly took out his phone and checked his bank account.

After looking at the balance, he sighed.

"Well... I guess I’m officially broke."

"I need to earn some money."

Then another thought crossed his mind.

"My Talent also works on beasts..."

"I wonder if I can reconstruct a beast as well."

His eyes widened.

"Wait..."

"Doesn’t that mean even if I start with a Rank 1 beast, I can continuously evolve it all the way to Rank 10?"

"...Or maybe even beyond Rank 10, if such a level exists."

The more he thought about it, the more unbelievable his Talent seemed.

There were simply too many possible applications.

Weapons.

Armor.

Artifacts.

Skills.

Bloodlines.

Beasts.

If everything listed in the description could truly be reconstructed...

Then the potential of Reconstruction was almost limitless.

Kaiser took a deep breath.

"Okay."

"First things first."

"I need to increase my mana."

"My Talent is completely limited by my mana pool."

"If I don’t have enough mana, I can’t reconstruct anything."

He thought for a moment before nodding to himself.

"The easiest way to increase my mana is to level up."

"That means entering Cosmic as soon as possible."

He then glanced toward the empty corner of his room.

"But before that..."

"My beast has to hatch."

Kaiser opened his Cosmic Sheet once more.

This time, he tapped on the Bond section to learn more about his new partner.

Golden Fate Goblin King

Potential Rank: Peak Rank 8

Status: Hatching

Time Remaining: 16 Hours 32 Minutes

That was all the information available.

Since the beast had not hatched yet, most of its details were still locked.

"Hmm... maybe I should look it up online."

Kaiser took out his phone and searched for Golden Fate Goblin King.

After several minutes of searching, he found almost nothing.

The only results were old forum posts and rumors from Cosmic explorers.

According to those stories, a few people had encountered golden goblins inside Cosmic. They were said to be creatures blessed by the God of Fortune, capable of finding treasures wherever they went.

Some even claimed that becoming friends with one could make a person rich overnight.

Unfortunately, there were no reliable records.

Most people dismissed the stories as exaggerated rumors.

Kaiser scratched his head.

"Damn..."

"If even ordinary people can supposedly find them, maybe this beast isn’t as powerful as I thought."

Still, he didn’t lose hope.

After all, the internet was full of fake stories.

Without any official information, he couldn’t judge how powerful his partner actually was.

"It looks like I should start looking for a second beast sooner than I expected."

"If this little guy doesn’t have any useful combat skills, I’ll need another partner for fighting."

Putting those thoughts aside, Kaiser stood up and walked into the backyard.

He picked up his wooden practice sword.

Although his mana was nearly exhausted, he could still practice the Mana Arts.

Mana Arts were basic techniques developed by humans over centuries.

Unlike Skills granted by Cosmic, anyone could learn them through training.
