Chapter 5: Powerful

Kaiser shrugged.

"It’s not amazing, but it’ll do."

"My priority right now is earning money. Humans can form up to three Soul Bonds during their lifetime anyway. Once I have enough savings, I’ll look for a stronger beast as my second or third partner."

"For now, this is enough."

"That’s a good way to think about it," Alex said.

Kaiser smiled before looking at his two friends.

"What about you?"

Alicia’s face brightened.

"I awakened an A-Rank Talent."

"It’s called Amplify."

"It lets me overcharge my abilities up to ten times their normal power without increasing the mana cost."

Kaiser’s eyes widened.

"That’s... insanely strong."

Alicia nodded happily.

"It also works on the abilities I’ll gain from my bonded beast."

"And speaking of that," she continued, gently holding her Beast Egg, "I bonded with a Thunderbird."

"Congratulations," Kaiser said sincerely.

"That’s an excellent combination."

Alex folded his arms with a smug grin.

"As for me, you already know about my beast."

"The Fire Drake."

"My Talent is B-Rank."

"It’s called Charmer."

Kaiser raised an eyebrow.

"What does it do?"

Alex scratched his cheek.

"It naturally increases my affinity with the opposite gender."

Silence filled the space between them.

Alicia stared at him.

"...That’s it?"

Alex coughed.

"It also works on female beasts."

"It makes bonding with them much easier, and if they’re suitable, I can even tame them more easily than normal."

Kaiser nodded thoughtfully.

"Actually... that’s a pretty good Talent."

"If you focus on beast taming, you could build a very powerful team."

Alex immediately pointed at him.

"See? Kaiser gets it."

Alicia snorted.

"Beast Tamer?"

"More like a Pervert Tamer."

Kaiser burst into laughter.

Alex laughed as well.

"You’re both just jealous."

"Just wait."

"One day, I’ll build the strongest team of humanoid beasts in the world."

Alicia shook her head.

"I don’t think that’s the only reason you want a team of beautiful humanoid beasts."

Alex simply grinned.

"I refuse to answer that."

The three of them laughed together as the Awakening Ceremony continued around them.

Before long, the last group finished their awakening.

The City Lord gave a few final instructions about registering with the Awakeners Association and reminded everyone to return after their beasts hatched for the next stage of training.

With that, the ceremony officially came to an end.

Students began leaving the Awakening Hall one after another, reuniting with their families outside.

Kaiser soon spotted his mother waiting near the entrance.

The moment she saw him, she smiled warmly and walked over.

"How did it go?"

Kaiser scratched his head.

"I awakened a Repair Talent."

His mother was silent for a moment before gently patting his shoulder.

"It’s okay."

"No matter what Talent you awaken, as long as you work hard, you can still make a good life for yourself."

Kaiser smiled and nodded.

"Yeah."

He had already decided to keep his true Talent a secret.

At least for now.

An SSS-Rank Talent and a Rank 8 beast were simply too shocking.

Keeping them hidden until he understood both of them was the smarter choice.

"I also bonded with a Rank 2 Light Gnome," he added.

His mother smiled.

"A Light Gnome is a good support beast."

"And a Repair Talent isn’t bad either."

"There are many restoration awakeners working for the Awakeners Association."

"They repair damaged weapons, armor, magical artifacts, and equipment brought back from dungeons."

"They earn a stable income."

She looked at him reassuringly.

"If you want, you can work there for a few years, save enough money, and later buy a stronger beast for your second bond."

"Or, if you still wish to become an explorer, you can enter Cosmic or clear dungeons here in Solaris after you’ve prepared yourself."

Kaiser nodded.

"That’s what I was thinking too."

Of course...

That was only the plan everyone else knew.

As for his real plan...

It would have to wait until he understood exactly what his Reconstruction Talent and Golden Fate Goblin King were truly capable of.

After walking home together, Kaiser’s mother changed into her work uniform.

"I have to get back to the hospital," she said while putting on her coat.

Kaiser nodded.

"I’ll be fine."

"Don’t forget to eat."

"I won’t."

She smiled before leaving for work.

The house soon became quiet.

Since the Awakening Ceremony had just ended, all academies across the kingdom would remain closed for the next few days.

The break was given so newly awakened students could familiarize themselves with their Talents, meet their bonded beasts after they hatched, and learn how to use their new abilities safely.

Training classes would only resume after that.

Kaiser walked into his room and locked the door.

He sat down at his desk and took a deep breath.

"Time to see what I actually awakened."

He summoned his Cosmic Sheet.

A transparent blue screen appeared before him.

His eyes immediately moved to the Talent section.

Talent: Reconstruction

Rank: SSS

He tapped the Talent with his finger.

The description unfolded into a larger window.

Reconstruction (SSS)

Description:

The supreme power to reconstruct all things.

Matter, energy, mana, life, skills, bloodlines, equipment, formations, and even concepts can be reconstructed.

Every successful reconstruction creates a more complete and optimized version of the original.

Current Reconstruction Limit: 3/3 per day

There is no limit to simply repairing something back to its original state, other than the user’s available mana.

Kaiser read the description twice before scratching his head.

"So... it’s basically an upgrade ability?"

He tilted his head.

From the description alone, that was what his Talent seemed to do.

Kaiser looked at the words 3/3 per day.

"So I get three attempts every day..."

He thought for a moment.

"The only way to understand it is to test it."

He stood up and walked toward the storage room.

Most of his father’s belongings had been carefully packed away after the accident.

Armor, old backpacks, monster materials, broken weapons, and various dungeon supplies were neatly stored inside wooden boxes.

Kaiser searched through them for a few minutes.
