Chapter 39: First Fight
"I want to see how extraordinary a Divine Mark of that level really is."
Meanwhile, Kaiser was still lying on the boulder with his eyes closed.
Suddenly, a message came through his connection with Rite.
Three groups of students were approaching from different directions.
Kaiser slowly opened his eyes.
"Hmm."
"So someone’s finally coming."
"I guess it’s time to move my muscles."
He stood up and stretched his arms.
Then he calmly raised one hand.
"Spectral Blades."
Soul Mana gathered around him.
One translucent blade after another materialized in the air.
Within seconds, more than ten ghostly swords floated around his body.
Each blade shimmered with pale gray light and emitted a sharp aura of Death Mana.
They quietly hovered around him, waiting for his command.
This was the strongest offensive spell in his current arsenal.
Spectral Blades.
Unlike Spectral Hands, which excelled at versatility and utility, Spectral Blades existed purely for combat.
As for Undead Creation, it required a suitable corpse to create an undead servant.
There were no bodies nearby, making it useless in the current situation.
Familiar Call was already active through Rite, so there was no need to cast it again.
That left Spectral Blades as his primary weapon.
Kaiser looked toward the forest ahead.
Through his connection with Rite, he could clearly sense the positions of all three groups.
"They still haven’t noticed each other."
"But coincidentally they are all coming at my location and given their speed they will meet each other even at my location too."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"That makes things much easier."
With a thought, the floating blades silently disappeared into the surrounding trees, hiding among the branches while remaining under his control.
Kaiser then stood alone in the clearing, waiting calmly for the first group to arrive.
A few minutes later, the sound of footsteps echoed through the forest.
The first group emerged from between the trees.
There were three students.
The moment they saw Kaiser standing alone in the clearing, they stopped.
One of them smiled.
"Looks like we found someone."
Another student glanced around carefully.
"He’s alone."
The third nodded.
"Then this will be easy."
Kaiser simply looked at them.
He didn’t move.
The three students slowly spread out, trying to surround him.
At almost the same time, Rite sent another message.
The second group was only a few hundred meters away.
The third group wasn’t far behind either.
Kaiser smiled inwardly.
Perfect.
The first student raised his staff.
"Surrender now."
"It’ll save us some effort."
Kaiser calmly shook his head.
"I don’t think so."
The student sighed.
"Then don’t blame us."
Dark Mana gathered around his staff.
Just as he was about to cast his spell—
Rite sent another warning.
The second group had entered the area.
They could already hear voices from the clearing.
A few seconds later, four more students stepped out from another side of the forest.
The first group’s expressions immediately changed.
"You?"
"What are you doing here?"
The newcomers frowned.
"We could ask you the same question."
Before either side could say anything else, two more students emerged from the opposite direction.
The third group had arrived.
For a brief moment, the entire clearing became silent.
Nine students stood facing one another.
Everyone had originally come to eliminate a single opponent.
Instead, they had unexpectedly walked into a three-way confrontation.
Kaiser stood quietly in the center.
He looked from one group to another.
Then he smiled.
"It seems everyone’s here."
No one answered him.
Every student had shifted their attention away from Kaiser.
Instead, they watched the other groups with wary expressions.
No one wanted to be the first to attack and become everyone else’s target.
The atmosphere immediately became tense.
Whoosh!
Before anyone could make the first move, several ghostly blades suddenly shot out from the surrounding trees.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The Spectral Blades moved so quickly that none of the students had time to react.
One after another, they were struck.
Their bodies dissolved into particles of light as they were eliminated from the Death Realm.
Within seconds, the clearing became completely silent.
All nine students had been defeated.
Kaiser looked at the empty clearing and clicked his tongue.
"Tch."
"What an anticlimax."
"I thought they’d be stronger."
"They all went down too easily."
He glanced at the ghostly swords hovering around him.
With a snap of his fingers, all of the Spectral Blades dispersed into Soul Mana and disappeared.
Kaiser then looked toward the sky.
"Rite."
"How large is the map now?"
A moment later, information flowed through their spiritual connection.
Kaiser nodded.
"Hmm."
"So the island has already started shrinking."
"I’m almost at the border."
He looked toward the east.
In the distance, a massive white wall was slowly advancing across the land.
Everything behind it gradually disappeared.
"Time to move."
Kaiser quietly turned south.
According to Rite’s observations, that direction would eventually become the center of the battlefield.
Without wasting any more time, he began moving.
He calmly ran through the forest, jumping from tree to tree while Rite continued circling high above the clouds, keeping watch over everything within a one-mile radius.
Meanwhile, inside her private Castle...
Leoness was quietly eating potato chips while watching the battle unfold on the giant screens.
When she saw how quickly the nine students had been eliminated, she wasn’t surprised.
Instead, she shook her head.
"So that’s what happened."
"It wasn’t that they were weak."
"It’s that his spells are too refined."
She replayed the scene.
The Spectral Blades had moved with incredible precision.
Every attack had been perfectly timed.
Every angle had been calculated.
Not a single blade had been wasted.
Leoness immediately recognized the reason.
"Perfection."
"That Spectral Blade spell has already reached the Perfection stage."
She leaned back in her chair.
"For a normal student, reaching Adept rank in a month would already be impressive."
"Master rank would be considered genius-level talent."
"But Perfection?"
She shook her head again.
"That’s ridiculous."
Her eyes shifted toward another screen showing Rite flying high above the battlefield.
"And Familiar Call too."
"The Deathstorm Hawk is responding as if it were part of his own body."
"That’s another perfected spell."
Leoness opened a student report and glanced at it.
"One month."
"Only one month."
