Chapter 40: Fight
Chapter 40: Fight
She let out a small sigh.
"As expected of someone carrying the Mark of the Tomb."
"The Divine Mark isn’t just powerful."
"It grants terrifying comprehension."
"Spells that take ordinary students years to master are learned by him in weeks."
She looked back at Kaiser’s screen.
The boy was calmly moving through the forest without showing the slightest excitement after eliminating nine opponents.
His expression remained completely relaxed.
Leoness laughed softly.
"At this rate, the other students aren’t competing against each other."
"They’re competing against a monster."
She tossed another chip into her mouth and continued watching with interest.
Now she wanted to see how Kaiser would perform against the academy’s true elites.
Leoness continued watching the screen.
A thoughtful look appeared on her face.
"At his current level..."
"There are probably only two students who can truly challenge him."
She waved her hand, and two screens enlarged.
The first showed a girl with long crimson hair calmly walking through the forest.
Several powerful ghosts silently floated around her.
Every spirit moved with perfect coordination, protecting her from every direction.
"Cherry Heimball."
"Bearer of the Ghost Knight Path."
"One of the academy’s rare special paths."
The second screen showed the pink-blond young man from the Black Star Clan.
A silver spectral sword rested on his shoulder as he walked through the forest.
His expression remained completely emotionless.
"Ryder Blackstar."
"Bearer of the Spectral Knight Path."
"Another special path."
Leoness looked back at Kaiser’s screen.
"The Mark of the Tomb allows countless paths."
"But he hasn’t chosen one yet."
"He’s still building his foundation."
She smiled faintly.
"Cherry and Ryder have already committed to their own paths."
"They’ve spent years training specifically for them."
"Kaiser hasn’t."
"Even so..."
"He isn’t weaker than either of them."
She leaned back in her chair.
"If these three meet..."
"That should be the most interesting fight of today’s lesson."
With that, she quietly continued watching the battle unfold.
Meanwhile...
Kaiser continued moving through the forest at a steady pace.
Rite circled high above the clouds, constantly observing the battlefield.
Every few minutes, the hawk sent new information through their spiritual connection.
Kaiser silently memorized the locations of the remaining students.
"The map has shrunk again."
"There are seventeen students left."
He quietly changed direction.
There was no reason to fight unless he had to.
His goal was to reach the center before everyone else.
As he crossed a small hill, Rite suddenly sent another warning.
Two powerful Mana signatures had entered its detection range.
Kaiser immediately stopped.
"They’re stronger than the others."
He climbed onto a large tree branch and looked into the distance.
Although he couldn’t see them yet, he could clearly sense their direction through Rite.
"They’re fighting."
A few seconds later, waves of Mana spread across the forest.
The sound of explosions echoed through the trees.
Kaiser didn’t move.
Instead, he quietly watched from a distance.
"If they’re willing to weaken each other..."
"I’ll let them."
He patiently waited while the battle continued several hundred meters away.
High above, Rite remained hidden among the clouds, carefully watching every movement below.
Kaiser remained perfectly still.
He quietly listened to the sounds of battle echoing through the forest.
Every explosion became weaker than the last.
After several minutes, the fighting finally stopped.
Rite immediately sent him another update.
Only one Mana signature remained.
Kaiser smiled faintly.
He didn’t rush forward.
Instead, he waited another minute.
If the victor had set a trap, rushing in now would only be careless.
After confirming that nothing unusual was happening, Kaiser finally moved.
He silently jumped from tree to tree until he reached the edge of the battlefield.
Looking through the branches, he saw the aftermath.
Several patches of earth had been scorched black.
Trees had been cut down.
Deep craters covered the ground.
At the center stood a single student.
The student was breathing heavily.
His robes were torn in several places, and his Mana was clearly depleted.
He was searching the area cautiously, making sure no one else was nearby.
Kaiser stayed hidden.
"He used too much Mana."
"He won’t be able to fight at full strength anymore."
Just then, Rite sent another warning.
Another student was approaching from the west.
Kaiser quietly stepped back into the shadows.
"It seems I’m not the only one waiting for an opportunity."
He remained silent, allowing the two students to discover each other first.
The exhausted student slowly looked around.
He held his weapon tightly.
His breathing had not yet returned to normal.
A few seconds later, another student stepped out from between the trees.
The two of them froze.
Neither spoke.
Both immediately understood the situation.
The newly arrived student smiled.
"You don’t look so good."
The exhausted student didn’t reply.
He simply raised his weapon.
The second student rushed forward.
A short battle followed.
Without enough Mana left, the exhausted student could only defend himself.
After exchanging a few attacks, he was finally defeated.
His body dissolved into countless particles of light.
The victorious student let out a long breath.
"That was easier than I expected."
He lowered his guard for a moment.
Hidden among the trees, Kaiser quietly watched everything.
"He still has plenty of Mana."
"But his attention is elsewhere."
Kaiser slowly raised his hand.
More than ten Spectral Blades silently appeared behind the branches.
They hovered without making a sound.
The student below remained completely unaware.
Kaiser calmly pointed forward.
The ghostly blades shot through the forest like streaks of gray light.
Whoosh!
The Spectral Blades crossed the distance in an instant.
The student sensed danger at the last moment.
He quickly turned around and raised a barrier.
Bang!
The first two blades struck the barrier, causing cracks to spread across its surface.
His eyes widened.
"Someone’s there!"
Before he could react further, the remaining blades attacked from different directions.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The barrier shattered.
The student hurriedly dodged to one side, narrowly avoiding a direct hit.
However, two blades still cut across his shoulder and leg.
He stumbled backward.
"Who’s hiding there?!"
Kaiser calmly stepped out from behind the trees.
