Chapter 27: A New World

Chapter 27: A New World

Sunlight streamed through a nearby window.

The room was modestly furnished with a wooden table, a chair, and a wardrobe.

He immediately sat up and looked around.

"So..."

"This is the trial?"

Before he could examine the room any further, a series of system notifications appeared before him.

[You have selected Nightmare Difficulty.]

[Your second life will now begin.]

[To successfully clear this trial, you must survive for at least 10 years in this world.]

[Your final class will be determined by the life you live, the choices you make, the skills you master, and the knowledge you acquire during the trial.]

[All skills, techniques, and knowledge gained in this world will be preserved after the trial ends.]

[However, your Levels, Attributes, and items obtained here will not be carried over.]

[Today is the Awakening Ceremony of Blue Leaf Village.]

[First Objective: Attend the ceremony, awaken yourself.]

[ The way of Awakening in this world is different but you will still obtain a Talent.]

[The Talent awakened in this world will be one rank lower than your original Talent. It will not necessarily possess the same abilities.]

[Bonus Reward Conditions:]

• Survive for 20 years to receive additional rewards.

• Every additional year survived beyond that will further increase the quality of your rewards.

[Best of luck, Challenger Kaiser Storm.]

[We look forward to witnessing the life you create in this world.]

Kaiser silently read every notification.

Only after a few moments did he finally understand why he could no longer feel his pets.

He couldn’t sense Ripple.

He couldn’t sense the Giant Steel Slime.

He couldn’t sense the Blood Warlock either.

A hint of worry appeared on his face.

"Where are Ripple and my pets?"

He immediately asked the system.

A new notification appeared.

[Your bonded beasts are also undergoing separate trials.]

[Unlike you, their lives are not at risk.]

[However, if you fail this trial and die, all of your bonded beasts will also perish.]

Kaiser’s expression turned serious.

"So they’re safe..."

"But only as long as I stay alive."

He slowly clenched his fists.

"Then I have no choice."

"I’ll clear this trial."

"No matter what it takes."

A sudden knock came from the door.

Knock. Knock.

Kaiser walked over and opened it.

Standing outside was an elderly man with a long white beard and simple village clothes.

The moment Kaiser saw him, countless memories flooded into his mind.

The man before him was the village chief.

His name was Edward.

The memories blended naturally with his own, allowing Kaiser to quickly understand his identity in this world.

Edward frowned the moment he saw Kaiser.

"You brat!"

"What are you still doing here?"

"Today is the Awakening Ceremony!"

"The Holy Master from the city has already arrived."

"If you’re late, you’ll embarrass the entire village."

"We only have about ten minutes left."

"Come with me!"

Before Kaiser could reply, the old man grabbed his wrist and pulled him outside.

As they hurried through the village, more memories continued surfacing in Kaiser’s mind.

He finally began to understand the cultivation system of this world.

Unlike his original world, where people awakened Talents through the Cosmic Platform, everyone here awakened a Divine Mark.

Every Divine Mark was a blessing bestowed by one of the Ten Ruling Gods.

The Divine Mark determined a person’s natural affinity, future potential, and the type of Talent they would awaken.

A stronger Divine Mark meant a stronger blessing from a god, granting greater potential and making cultivation much easier.

Those with ordinary Divine Marks usually lived simple lives as farmers, craftsmen, or merchants.

Those blessed with powerful Divine Marks had the chance to become legendary warriors, mages, priests, beast tamers, or countless other powerful professions.

For countless generations, the strength of one’s Divine Mark had decided a person’s future.

Kaiser quietly absorbed all of the new memories while following the village chief toward the ceremony.

His curiosity only continued to grow.

What kind of Divine Mark will I awaken in this world?

Kaiser quietly followed the village chief toward the village square.

As they arrived, he saw that the entire square was already crowded.

Dozens of children around his age stood in neat lines.

Behind them were their parents, watching with nervous and excited expressions.

Not every child had someone standing behind them.

Several orphans stood quietly by themselves.

Kaiser naturally joined them.

His memories told him that his parents had died several years ago while protecting the village from monsters.

The village chief gently patted his shoulder before walking away.

At the center of the square stood a middle-aged man dressed in pure white robes embroidered with golden patterns.

A thick book floated beside him.

The villagers all looked at him with respect.

He was the Holy Master sent from the city.

His duty was to conduct the Awakening Ceremony in the surrounding villages every year.

Another child stepped forward.

The Holy Master calmly opened the ancient book.

Golden pages turned on their own.

He raised one hand toward the child.

"By the blessings of the Ten Great Gods..."

"May this child discover the path destined for him."

The holy or magical book began to glow.

At the same time, ten enormous magic circles appeared one after another around the child.

Each circle had a different color and symbol.

One represented flames.

Another represented oceans.

Another shone with brilliant light.

Others radiated darkness, wind, earth, lightning, and many more.

The ten circles slowly revolved around the child before merging into a single beam of divine light.

The light descended from the sky and entered the child’s body.

A few seconds later, the glow disappeared.

The child suddenly opened his eyes.

A crimson mark had appeared on the back of his right hand.

The Holy Master smiled after examining it.

"Congratulations."

"You have received the blessing of the War God."

"You possess a Warrior Divine Mark."

The boy looked at the mark on his hand before jumping excitedly.

"I did it!"

"I’m going to become an adventurer!"

His parents immediately rushed over and hugged him with tears in their eyes.
