Chapter 26: Class Trial II
"Amplify."
A gigantic pillar of lightning descended from the sky.
Boom!
The Bone Guardian’s left arm exploded into countless bone fragments.
Alex seized the opportunity.
"Drake Fang Slash!"
His flaming sword cut straight through the giant’s chest.
Cracks rapidly spread across its entire body.
Kaiser fired one last volley.
"Light Bullet."
More than fifty glowing bullets struck the cracked body simultaneously.
Bang!
The entire Bone Guardian shattered into thousands of bone fragments.
The blue soul fire inside its skull flickered once before disappearing completely.
The miniboss had been defeated.
Its broken body slowly dissolved into streams of black mana.
The mana gathered together before condensing into a treasure chest.
But no one looked at the Chest instead Alicia and Alex arrived before Kaiser.
" Kai, How did you get these two pets?" She asked as she can easily see thye are not Soul bonds but just pets.
" Yes, just how?" Alex also asked as he specifically looked at the Blood Warlock, the blood red skeleton is so cool for him.
" It’s one of the skill I recieved from Ripple..my soul bond, it allow me to beat other monsters and tame them" he said the excuse he have prepared long ago.
" Damm and here I was feeling pity for you for getting a Rank 2 egg, but who would have thought you hit the jackpot even with low potential egg" Alex said smiling and patting Kaiser as he shrugged.
" Anyway, let’s just see what rewards we get" he said as others nodded arriving before the chest.
Soon, they were before the chest.
Kaiser looked at it for a moment but made no move.
His Reconstruction limit had already been exhausted for the day.
Even if it hadn’t been, he had no intention of using such an eye-catching ability in front of everyone.
Some secrets were better kept hidden.
Alex stepped forward and opened the chest.
Three rewards lay inside.
The first was a black skill book.
Uncommon Skill Book: Summon Bone Golem.
Kaiser immediately became interested.
"A summoning skill."
Alex smiled and handed it to him.
"You should take this."
"You’ll make much better use of it than any of us."
Kaiser accepted it with a nod.
"Thanks."
The second reward was an enormous white greatsword carved entirely from monster bones.
Uncommon Weapon: Great Bone Cleaver.
Alex swung it a few times before smiling.
"This suits my fighting style."
No one objected.
Finally, Alicia picked up the last reward.
It was a white crown decorated with polished bones and blue soul crystals.
Uncommon Equipment: Crown of Bones.
The crown increased Mana, Intelligence, and resistance against mental attacks.
"It fits a mage perfectly," Alicia said with a smile before storing it inside her storage ring.
"It’s also the key to the hidden class trial," Marina added as she took the crown from Alicia.
Alicia didn’t said anything and just gave it to her knowing she is nothing but slave of Kaiser at this point.
Everyone else looked at the crown with curiosity, wondering how it can be a key.
Marina then led the group behind the Bone Guardian’s territory.
The others silently followed her.
After walking for nearly half an hour, they arrived at another graveyard.
Unlike the others, this one was completely isolated.
Not a single monster could be seen nearby.
"Hmm, it’s quite far in," Alex muttered.
"There wasn’t another graveyard for nearly half a mile."
Marina nodded.
"That’s because this place normally doesn’t exist."
"It only appears after the Bone Guardian is defeated and the Crown of Bones is obtained."
Everyone looked around in surprise.
No wonder nobody had ever discovered it before.
Marina walked toward the largest tomb located at the center of the graveyard.
"It should be this one."
She carefully placed the Crown of Bones into a circular indentation on top of the tomb.
Click.
The crown fit perfectly.
The entire graveyard suddenly began to tremble.
Rumble...
Ancient runes lit up across the surface of the tomb.
A few seconds later, the massive stone coffin slowly slid to one side.
A hidden staircase leading underground was revealed.
Cold air mixed with dense Death Mana flowed out from the darkness below.
"So this is the entrance," Alex said.
Marina nodded.
"Yes."
"This leads to the hidden class trial."
She stepped back and looked at everyone.
"I won’t be going with you."
"I’ve already cleared the trial once."
"The trial only allows each person to enter once."
She paused before continuing.
"Also, once you enter, each of you will be separated."
"The trial changes according to the difficulty you choose."
"So don’t expect to meet each other inside."
"Also, there is no death penalty unless you choose the Nightmare difficulty" she added.
Everyone nodded.
Kaiser looked at the dark staircase.
"I guess this is another independent space."
"Most likely a secret realm created long ago."
"Probably," Alicia replied.
One by one, they began descending the stairs.
The staircase continued downward for several minutes before finally ending in front of an ancient stone gate.
Strange runes covered its entire surface.
At the center floated a dark portal.
A system notification appeared before everyone.
[Hidden Class Trial Discovered.]
[Select Difficulty.]
Easy
Normal
Hard
Nightmare
Everyone exchanged glances.
Kaiser smiled.
"I guess this is where we separate."
The others nodded.
"And we’re all choosing Hard difficulty," Alicia said. "Death in the Nightmare Trial is permanent. There’s no reason to risk our lives."
Everyone agreed.
Only Kaiser remained silent.
Outwardly, he nodded along with them.
Inwardly, however, he had already made his decision.
I’m choosing Nightmare.
I trust my Talent... and I trust Ripple.
One after another, everyone selected their difficulty.
Their bodies disappeared into separate portals.
Kaiser walked toward the final portal.
A warning screen appeared before him.
[Warning!]
[Death inside the Nightmare Trial is permanent.]
[Do you still wish to select Nightmare Difficulty?]
Yes / No
Without the slightest hesitation, Kaiser selected Yes.
The world around him instantly dissolved into darkness.
When Kaiser opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a simple wooden bed inside a small room.
Sunlight streamed through a nearby window.
