Chapter 25: Class Trial
Chapter 25: Class Trial
Kaiser closed his inventory and looked deeper into the Black Bone Graveyard.
"We’ve defeated one miniboss."
"There are still three left."
Marina immediately stood up.
"Should we head to the next one, Master?"
Kaiser shook his head.
"First, let’s meet up with Alex and the others."
"They’ve probably made good progress as well."
With that, the two left the clearing and headed toward the rendezvous point they had agreed on earlier.
The rendezvous point was located on the only path leading to the dungeon’s final boss.
Black Obsidian Skeleton Lord
It was a powerful undead warrior renowned for its overwhelming physical strength and terrifying defensive abilities.
Among all Level 30 monsters, it was considered one of the strongest. Very few monsters at the same level could match its combat power.
After waiting for nearly twenty minutes, Alex’s group and Alicia’s group finally arrived.
Both teams appeared to have finished dealing with their assigned minibosses.
Alex smiled as soon as he saw Kaiser.
"So, how did it go?"
Kaiser nodded.
"I defeated the Soul-Sucking Butterfly."
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Already?"
"That was fast."
Alicia also looked surprised.
"Did it give you any trouble?"
Kaiser shook his head.
"Not really."
"My Light Magic completely countered its abilities."
"I attacked it from outside its Black Fog Domain, while Marina and my pets kept it occupied."
"The fight ended much more easily than I expected."
Alex nodded in understanding.
"Elemental advantage really makes a huge difference."
"So, what did the boss chest drop?"
A faint smile appeared on Kaiser’s face.
"Some decent rewards."
"I’ll show you everything after we finish the hidden class trial."
Neither Alex nor Alicia asked any further questions.
Everyone knew that revealing one’s equipment and skills was considered a taboo among Awakened.
Instead, Alex changed the subject.
"We also defeated our assigned miniboss."
"I fought the Half-Vampire."
"It was much tougher than I expected, but we managed to kill it."
Alicia nodded as well.
"My group took care of the Bone Necromancer."
"The battle wasn’t difficult, but it took some time because it kept summoning skeletons."
Kaiser looked around.
"So, that leaves only one remaining miniboss."
Marina nodded.
"Yes, Master."
"The Bone Guardian."
"It protects the entrance to the hidden class trial."
Kaiser smiled.
"Perfect."
"Let’s defeat it."
"Then we’ll head straight for the hidden trial."
The group rested for a few minutes before continuing deeper into the Black Bone Graveyard.
According to Dungeon’s map, the final remaining miniboss guarded the entrance to the hidden class trial.
After nearly half an hour of traveling, they finally reached a massive stone courtyard surrounded by broken pillars and ancient tombs.
At the center stood a giant creature over six meters tall.
Its entire body was constructed from countless white bones fused together.
Its arms were as thick as tree trunks, and it carried an enormous bone hammer almost as large as a carriage.
Blue soul flames burned within its empty eye sockets.
Above its head floated its status.
Bone Guardian
Rank: Rare Miniboss
Level: 25
Race: Undead Golem
"It really is a Bone Golem," Kaiser said.
Marina nodded.
"It possesses incredible physical strength."
"Its defense is even higher."
"It guards the entrance to the hidden trial."
Alex smiled.
"Then let’s bring it down."
The Bone Guardian suddenly sensed their presence.
Its soul flames blazed brightly.
Without hesitation, it lifted its gigantic hammer and charged.
The ground shook with every step.
"I’ll take it head-on," Alex said.
Flames erupted around his body as his Fire Drake released a powerful roar.
His entire sword became covered in blazing fire.
"Flame Burst Slash!"
A massive arc of fire struck the Bone Guardian’s chest.
The explosion forced the giant back several steps but failed to break through its thick bone armor.
"It really is tough."
Before the Bone Guardian could retaliate, Mary activated her talent.
"Super Recovery."
A soft green glow covered Alex.
His Mana, Stamina, and Health immediately began recovering at an astonishing speed.
At the same time, her Velith Bat flew into the sky.
Using its Darkness affinity, it continuously distracted the Bone Guardian by attacking its eyes and joints.
The giant swung its hammer upward.
The giant swung its hammer upward.
The bat easily dodged, forcing the guardian to waste its attack.
Meanwhile, Alicia raised her staff.
"Lightning Spear."
A bolt of lightning shot forward.
Just before it struck, she activated her talent.
"Amplify."
The single spear instantly multiplied in size.
The lightning became nearly ten times larger.
Boom!
The explosion blasted away several layers of bone from the Bone Guardian’s shoulder.
Lana immediately followed.
"Radiant Chains."
Golden chains made entirely of light wrapped around one of the giant’s legs.
Although they couldn’t completely restrain it, they slowed its movements enough for everyone else to attack safely.
Her Aurora-Eyed Swan flew above the battlefield, continuously releasing waves of holy light that weakened the undead miniboss.
Marina also joined the assault.
She activated Atomizer.
A cloud of holy water spread throughout the battlefield.
The mist continuously burned the Bone Guardian’s body, forcing it to endure constant holy damage.
Kaiser remained at the rear.
The Steel Slime positioned itself in front of him like a living fortress.
The Blood Warlock floated nearby.
"Blood Spear."
Several crimson spears pierced into the Bone Guardian’s joints.
"Blood Explosion."
The blood mana detonated inside the cracks created by Alicia’s lightning.
Boom!
Fragments of bone flew everywhere.
Kaiser calmly raised his hand.
"Light Bullet."
Dozens of glowing bullets shot toward the guardian.
Every shot accurately struck the damaged areas.
The holy bullets repeatedly shattered pieces of its body.
The Bone Guardian roared and slammed its hammer into the ground.
A powerful shockwave spread across the courtyard.
Alex immediately stepped forward.
His Fire Drake released a wall of flames that weakened the impact.
At the same time, the Steel Slime expanded its body into a massive steel wall.
The remaining shockwave crashed against it harmlessly.
Mary continuously maintained Super Recovery on everyone fighting at the front.
Even after repeatedly casting powerful skills, Alex never seemed to run out of stamina.
Alicia smiled.
"One more attack."
She pointed her staff at the Bone Guardian.
"Thunder Lance."
"Amplify."
