Chapter 24: Mini Boss Chest
Chapter 24: Mini Boss Chest
It was a brutal sight.
Within moments, its Health had fallen to the last sliver.
Seeing that it was on the verge of death, Kaiser finally stopped channeling Light of Purification.
He raised his right hand.
"Light Bullet."
More than a hundred glowing bullets condensed around him.
After repeatedly casting the spell throughout the battle, his mastery over it had increased significantly, allowing him to create far more bullets than before.
With a wave of his hand, every Light Bullet shot forward at once.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The barrage struck the Soul-Sucking Butterfly’s head simultaneously.
The holy bullets pierced straight through its skull, instantly shattering it into countless fragments of black mana.
The giant body went completely still before collapsing to the ground.
The Rare-rank miniboss had been defeated.
The giant body remained motionless for a few seconds.
Then it slowly began to dissolve.
Its flesh and wings broke apart into streams of black mana that gathered together in the center of the clearing.
The mana condensed into a wooden treasure chest covered with dark silver patterns.
Marina smiled.
"The boss chest appeared."
Kaiser nodded.
Boss monsters didn’t leave ordinary loot behind.
Instead, after they were defeated, their bodies transformed into a treasure chest containing all of the rewards.
He walked over and examined it.
Uncommon Boss Chest
"The chest is one rank lower than the boss itself."
Kaiser wasn’t surprised.
That was the normal rule.
Even if a Rare-rank boss was defeated, it usually only dropped an Uncommon-rank chest.
However, another thought suddenly crossed his mind.
His eyes lit up.
"If monsters can be reconstructed..."
"Can treasure chests be reconstructed too?"
Marina blinked.
"You want to evolve the chest?"
"I don’t know if it’ll work."
"So let’s find out."
" After all I still have one chance left today" he mumbled,
Kaiser placed his hand on top of the chest.
"Reconstruction."
Golden light immediately flowed from his palm and wrapped around the entire treasure chest.
The chest began to shake violently.
Large amounts of mana poured out of Kaiser’s body once again.
Fortunately, reconstructing an item consumed far less mana than evolving a living creature.
A few moments later, the golden light reached its peak.
Crack!
The surface of the chest split apart.
The old wooden material slowly transformed.
Dark silver patterns became bright golden runes.
The wood itself changed into an elegant crimson-black material that radiated powerful mana.
A new system notification appeared.
[Congratulations! Reconstruction successful.]
[Uncommon Boss Chest has evolved into a Rare Boss Chest.]
Kaiser smiled as he looked at the transformed chest.
"It worked."
"I can even reconstruct treasure chests."
Marina stared at the chest with disbelief.
"Master..."
"I’ve never heard of anyone upgrading a boss chest before."
Kaiser nodded.
"Neither have I."
He looked at the Rare Boss Chest with anticipation.
Without wasting another second, Kaiser slowly reached toward the lid of the Rare Boss Chest and lifted the lid.
A brilliant flash of light burst out from inside.
One system notification after another appeared before him.
[Rare Boss Chest opened.]

[You have obtained: Rare Equipment – Butterfly Wing Cloak.]
[You have obtained: Rare Weapon – Soul Reaper Staff.]
[You have obtained: Rare Material – Butterfly Wings ×5.]

Kaiser looked at the rewards with a satisfied smile.
"Five items."
"That’s much better than I expected."
He picked up the first reward.
It was a black skill book with a silver butterfly engraved on its cover.

Kaiser nodded.
"A good summoning skill."
"Unfortunately, I don’t have Darkness Affinity."
He stored the skill book inside his storage ring.
His eyes then moved to the second reward.
A beautiful black cloak lay folded inside the chest.
Its surface shimmered with countless tiny patterns resembling butterfly wings.

"These will be useful when exploring Darkness-type dungeons."
Marina looked at the five rewards with obvious surprise.
"Master..."
"Even an ordinary Rare Boss Chest shouldn’t contain rewards of this quality."
Kaiser smiled faintly.
"It seems upgrading the chest really improved both the quality and quantity of the rewards."
He suddenly looked at Marina.
"By the way, give me the Poison Powder skill book I gave you earlier."
"Yes, Master."
Without asking any questions, Marina immediately took the skill book out of her storage ring and handed it to him.
" I will return it to you later after increasing its rank" he said placing it back in the inventory as his talent limit have reached today.
