Chapter 13: Gate

The employee was pleasantly surprised to see him return so quickly.

Kaiser sold the five reconstructed Uncommon-Rank weapons at the current market price.

After the transaction was completed, he earned a little over 300,000 Cosmic Coins.

Including the money he already had, his total savings had now reached 350,000 CC.

With money finally in his account, Kaiser headed straight for the Skill Book section.

This time, he purchased two Rare-Rank skill books.

The first was Golden Wave.

It cost him 120,000 Cosmic Coins.

Golden Wave unleashed a massive wave of golden energy in a ten-meter arc, dealing 1000% of the user’s Magic Attack to every enemy caught within its range.

It was an extremely powerful area-of-effect attack.

The second skill book was Light of Purification.

It cost 150,000 Cosmic Coins.

Although it wasn’t an offensive skill, it was considered one of the most valuable Light-element abilities.

It could remove all negative status effects up to Rare Rank, including poison, paralysis, curses, burns, and other debilitating conditions.

With this skill, Kaiser wouldn’t have to worry about most status ailments during battle.

After paying for both books, he learned the skills on the spot.

The two books dissolved into streams of light and entered his body.

A moment later, the knowledge of both skills appeared in his mind as if he had practiced them for years.

Satisfied with his purchases, Kaiser left the Association.

With Ripple sitting on his shoulder and Bleeding Edge hanging from his waist, he headed toward his first dungeon.

The Slime Gate awaited him.

After about half an hour, Kaiser arrived at the Slime Gate.

The area around the gate was bustling with activity.

It had only been three days since the Awakening Ceremony, and countless newly awakened humans had gathered here for their first dungeon expedition.

The Slime Gate was the perfect beginner dungeon.

The strongest monster inside was only Level 10, a Giant Slime Boss. Apart from that, the dungeon was filled with ordinary slimes, making it the safest place for beginners to gain experience.

As Kaiser joined the registration line, someone suddenly patted him on the back.

"I thought that was you."

Kaiser turned around and smiled.

"Alex."

The two exchanged a quick hug.

Standing behind Alex were three beautiful girls, all wearing beginner combat gear.

"Nice to see you," Kaiser said.

"Here for your first dungeon too?"

Alex nodded with a grin.

"Yeah."

"My girlfriends and I are doing our first run."

He pointed at the girls behind him.

"What do you say?"

"Want to join us?"

The three girls immediately looked at Kaiser.

Judging from their expressions, it was obvious they hoped he would refuse.

Kaiser noticed their reaction and simply smiled.

"I’ll pass."

"I want to do my first dungeon alone."

"Besides, I can’t rely on you forever."

"I need to get used to fighting by myself sooner or later."

Alex nodded in understanding.

"Fair enough."

"But if you ever need help with higher-level dungeons, just call me."

"I will."

Kaiser smiled.

"Thanks."

Alex suddenly snapped his fingers.

"Come on."

"I can at least save you from waiting in line."

Kaiser looked at the enormous queue stretching outside the registration area.

There were well over a hundred people waiting.

He laughed.

"I’m definitely not saying no to that."

Using Alex’s VIP pass, the two skipped the long line and quickly finished the registration process.

A few minutes later, they stepped through the gate.

The scenery changed instantly.

A vast grassy plain stretched as far as the eye could see.

Dozens of blue slimes bounced across the fields.

In the distance, newly awakened adventurers were already fighting monsters in small groups.

Kaiser took a deep breath.

"So this is a dungeon..."

Everything felt incredibly real.

It was nothing like the games he had played in his previous life.

After walking a short distance together, Kaiser stopped.

"I’ll head this way."

Alex nodded.

"Good luck."

"You too."

The two friends separated and headed in different directions.

The moment Kaiser disappeared into the distance, one of the girls wrapped her arms around Alex’s arm, pressing herself against him.

"Alex..."

"Why are you still friends with someone like him?"

"I heard he only awakened a Rank 2 beast and a support Talent."

"He’ll just hold you back."

Slap!

Before she could finish speaking, Alex slapped her across the face.

The girl stumbled backward in shock.

Alex’s cheerful expression had completely disappeared.

His voice turned cold.

"He’s my best friend."

"Think before you speak."

"And from this moment on..."

"You’re no longer part of my team."

The girl froze.

She opened her mouth to apologize, but the words never came out.

A terrifying pressure suddenly filled the air.

The small Fire Drake resting on Alex’s shoulder slowly opened its eyes.

An invisible wave of draconic pressure spread across the area.

The girl’s face turned pale.

Her legs trembled uncontrollably.

This was Drake Fear, one of the Fire Drake’s innate racial abilities.

Without saying another word, Alex turned around and walked away.

The other two girls glanced at the dismissed girl with pity before quietly following him.

None of them argued with his decision.

After they left, the girl remained standing there with clenched fists.

Her name was Marina.

Hatred filled her eyes.

"It’s all that bastard Kaiser’s fault..."

She gritted her teeth.

"If he hadn’t shown up, Alex wouldn’t have kicked me out."

She completely ignored the fact that she had been expelled because of her own words.

Instead, she blamed everything on Kaiser.

"I’ll make him pay."

A cruel smile appeared on her face.

"Accidents happen inside dungeons all the time."

"He’s alone."

"He only has a Rank 2 beast and a support Talent."

"Killing someone like him won’t be difficult."

She gently stroked the creature resting on her shoulder.

It was a Nightmare Caterpillar, a beast with Rank 5 Potential.

Although it was still in its infant stage, it already possessed powerful Poison-type abilities.

With her Talent supporting it, Marina was confident she could easily deal with someone like Kaiser.
