Chapter 11: Buying

As evening arrived, Kaiser closed his stall for the day.

Before leaving, he claimed the booth as his own by scanning his temporary employee pass on the booth’s registration panel. This reserved the stall for him until the following day, saving him from searching for another empty booth.

He then looked at Ripple.

"Ripple, can you store all of these?"

The little goblin nodded enthusiastically.

"Ki!"

He waved his tiny hand, and one by one, the broken weapons disappeared into the crimson pouch on his back.

Within seconds, the entire pile had vanished.

Kaiser smiled.

"Good job."

With everything packed away, the two left Workshop Hall.

Instead of heading home immediately, Kaiser walked toward the Association Store.

Most awakeners preferred selling their dungeon loot or buying equipment there. The Association offered fair prices, and it was much safer than dealing with private buyers.

After entering the shop, Kaiser headed straight for the Skill Book section.

A female employee greeted him with a polite smile.

"Good evening, sir. How may I help you?"

"I’d like to see your Light and Gold affinity skill books."

"Certainly."

She walked over to a nearby shelf and returned a moment later with several books.

"Gold affinity skills are fairly uncommon, and Light affinity skills are even rarer, so our current stock is limited."

She placed five books on the counter.

"We currently have five Light affinity skill books."

"Three are Uncommon Rank, and two are Rare Rank."

She pointed to each book as she spoke.

Light Shield

Light Whip

Heal

Spear of Radiance

Palm of Purification

"The Uncommon-Rank skill books cost 10,000 Cosmic Coins each."

"The Rare-Rank ones cost 50,000 Cosmic Coins each."

Kaiser nodded as he carefully examined each book.

Then the employee brought over another stack.

"As for Gold affinity skills, we currently have seventeen."

She arranged them into three groups.

"Nine are Common Rank."

"Five are Uncommon Rank."

"And three are Rare Rank."

Kaiser’s eyes lit up.

Compared to Light affinity, there were far more Gold affinity skills available, giving him many more options for the future.

He spent several minutes reading the descriptions of every skill book.

Most of the Common-Rank Gold skills focused on creating weapons or strengthening defenses.

The Uncommon-Rank skills were more versatile, while the Rare-Rank ones had powerful offensive abilities.

After looking through all of them, Kaiser shook his head.

"I’ll come back later."

The employee smiled.

"Of course."

"You can purchase them anytime."

Kaiser thanked her and left the Skill Book section.

Next, he walked to the equipment area.

Rows of weapons and armor filled the shelves.

There were swords, spears, bows, shields, staffs, daggers, and countless other weapons.

Kaiser stopped in front of the sword section.

Most of the Common-Rank swords cost between 8,000 and 15,000 Cosmic Coins.

Uncommon-Rank swords started at around 60,000 CC.

Rare-Rank weapons were well over 300,000 CC.

Seeing the prices, Kaiser quietly walked away.

"I’ll keep using Bleeding Edge for now."

"There isn’t much point in buying another sword."

After all, Reconstruction could improve his current weapon in the future.

Spending money on a replacement would only slow him down.

He continued browsing through the store.

He looked at healing potions, mana potions, camping supplies, backpacks, and beginner dungeon equipment.

Eventually, he reached the materials section.

His eyes immediately fell on a shelf filled with broken weapons and damaged equipment.

Each item had been marked as beyond repair and was being sold at a heavy discount.

Kaiser picked up a broken Common-Rank dagger.

The price tag read:

500 Cosmic Coins.

Seeing the prices, Kaiser smiled.

Without hesitation, he spent the 50,000 Cosmic Coins he had earned that day on as many broken Common-Rank weapons and pieces of equipment as he could afford.

A few minutes later, an employee returned carrying several boxes.

"Here are your items, sir."

As Kaiser finished paying, the employee handed him a small silver ring.

Kaiser looked at it in surprise.

The man smiled.

"This is an Uncommon-Rank Storage Ring."

Kaiser’s eyebrows rose.

A storage ring like this was worth at least a million Cosmic Coins.

He looked at the employee.

"Why are you giving me something this valuable?"

The man smiled politely.

"I saw you earlier in the repair section."

"And now you’re buying broken equipment in bulk."

"I’m simply making an investment."

"If you manage to repair everything you’ve bought, I hope you’ll consider selling the finished items back to our store."

Kaiser immediately understood.

So this was a business investment.

He nodded.

"That’s fine."

"Although it’ll probably take me about a week to repair everything."

The man smiled and offered him a business card.

"My name is Michael Simons."

"If you decide to sell the repaired equipment, show this card at the front desk."

"I’ll come personally."

"And I’ll make sure you receive the best price we can offer."

Kaiser accepted the card.

"Thank you."

After storing everything inside the ring, he left the Association Store.

As soon as he was gone, one of the employees walked over to Michael.

"Do you really think he’s worth investing in?"

Michael smiled.

"My Talent is Greed Intuition."

"It has never failed me."

"I have a feeling that young man is going to make me a lot of money."

The employee looked confused.

"Just because he bought some broken weapons?"

Michael nodded.

"Think about it."

"Those weapons have already been declared beyond repair by several repair awakeners."

"If he still bought them in bulk, then he either knows someone who can repair those unreparable weapon..."

"...or he awakened an exceptionally powerful Repair or Blacksmith Talent."

He looked toward the entrance where Kaiser had disappeared.

"If my guess is correct..."

"His Talent is at least S-Rank."

"And if I build a good relationship with him now, it’ll be far more valuable than a single storage ring."

The employee slowly nodded.

"I understand."

Michael smiled.

" Juts Wait and watch, I am pretty sure that kid will return before the end of this week"

" What if can’t?"

" Then I guess it was just an beautiful dream and I woke up" Michael shrugged and left.
