Chapter 8: Punishment
Chapter 8: 8: Punishment
Roderic’s gaze immediately landed on the first listing.
Twin Dragon Hook Technique
Price: 9,000 Throne Coins
’Is there any more information?’ he wondered, cautiously reaching out to the screen.
As he pressed down, the window began to expand.
A beautifully illustrated pair of strange weapons appeared before him.
Unlike ordinary swords, each blade curved into a sharp hook at the tip. Even the handles ended in sharp metal spikes, making the entire weapon look dangerous.
’What kind of weapon is this...?’
He’d never seen or heard of anything like this. Not even back on Earth.
That’s when a description slowly unfolded beneath the image.
[Twin Dragon Hook Technique]
Grade: King Rank
Created by the Dragon Warrior of the Eastern Divine Dynasty.
Designed for hook swords, this technique is unmatched in one-on-one combat. Its relentless offense through chain attacks and weapon locks makes it invincible. Even against many opponents, its widespread aura attacks are more than sufficient.
Roderic read the description once more.
His breathing gradually slowed down.
’King Rank?’ he thought, his heart beginning to pound. ’A single technique for knights that costs nine thousand Throne Coins?’
He had no idea what King Rank meant or how high it was ranked.
Even so, one thing was abundantly clear.
If something cost almost every Throne Coin he possessed, it couldn’t possibly be ordinary!
His gaze drifted back to the beautiful blades for a moment.
Though he’d never been a swordsman in either life, even he could tell this technique was far more powerful than the ones he’d seen inside the Whitemane Territory.
Slowly, his hand hovered over the purchase button.
In the end, he stopped himself.
’There’s much more to check,’ he thought, clenching his fist. ’I have no idea how many of these coins I can gain in the future either.’
With a reluctant sigh, Roderic closed the listing.
Before he could continue browsing, soft knocks rang out behind him.
’’Yes?’’ Roderic said, glancing behind him.
’’Young Master...’’ Edmund said from behind the door. ’’The Master has been waiting for you.’’
Edmund paused for a moment, hesitant. ’’And it doesn’t seem like his mood has gotten any better.’’
A deep sigh echoed through the bathroom.
Roderic pushed himself out of the water, which had turned gray by now.
’I suppose I can’t keep him waiting forever,’ he thought, rapidly putting on his clothes.
With a casual wave of his hand, every system window vanished from sight.
As he left his bathroom, the servants who stood ready to clean up the bath stared inside, utterly disgusted by what Roderic had left behind.
Only after Roderic and Edmund had left the room completely did they get into action.
As the two walked through the corridors, every servant they passed stepped aside and bowed respectfully.
Though once they were a bit farther away, whispers immediately erupted.
’Only took a few actions,’ Roderic thought, smiling. ’And their attitudes have completely changed.’
He walked leisurely with both hands resting behind his head, not worried about his father in the slightest.
Within minutes, Edmund slowed to a halt in front of a large oak door.
Taking a slow breath, he knocked softly twice.
’’Master.’’
’’The Third Young Master has arrived.’’
Only a moment later, Arthur’s deep voice echoed from inside the study.
’’Come in.’’
Edmund slowly pushed open the heavy door before stepping aside and lowering his head.
Roderic casually walked inside with both hands still resting behind his head.
His gaze swept through the room once, landing on both present figures.
Arthur sat behind his desk, his expression dark.
Beside him sat a beautiful woman in an elegant crimson dress, appearing to be in her early thirties with an ice-cold face.
The moment he entered, her eyes locked onto him, her expression shifting to immense hatred and disgust.
’’So,’’ she said coldly. ’’The troublemaker finally decided to show himself.’’
This woman was Margaret, Arthur’s second wife and the current Madam of the Whitemane household.
Roderic merely glanced at her, rolled his eyes, and looked back at his father.
’’Good afternoon, Father,’’ he greeted respectfully. ’’I have come as you ordered.’’
Margaret scoffed loudly. ’’Mannerless swine.’’
Not paying any mind to Margaret, Arthur pointed at the chair opposite him, his eyes narrowed as he observed Roderic.
’’Sit down,’’ he finally said.
Roderic nodded once, casually taking a seat.
Folding his hands together, Arthur let out a soft breath.
’’Do you have any idea why you’re here?’’ he asked.
Without hesitation, Roderic nodded.
A small smile slowly grew on his face as he opened his mouth.
’’I can think of a few reasons.’’
Margaret’s expression twisted, fury written across her face.
"A few reasons?" she sneered. "You assaulted your own brother, destroyed part of this manor, and broke off a valuable alliance. Yet you still speak as though you’ve done nothing wrong."
Roderic simply looked at her.
This scene was all too familiar to him, having seen it countless times in the memories he’d inherited.
Only, the previous Roderic always shrank back in fear at the slightest bit of trouble.
He, on the other hand, had no intention of doing that.
’’I didn’t do anything wrong, though,’’ he said, shrugging lightly.
’’Hah?’’ Margaret stared at him, still smiling but caught off guard by his behavior.
Roderic’s smile widened, slowly turning into a vicious grin.
’’I only performed my duties as an elder brother,’’ he said. ’’With a mouth like his, Dennis would’ve caused this family far greater trouble someday.’’
Margaret stared at him, her eyes wide with surprise.
Quickly snapping out of it, she slammed her hand down on the table and turned to Arthur.
’’Do you see this?’’ she hissed angrily. ’’I told you, he has no remorse for his actions. He should be disowned on the spot!’’
Arthur remained silent for several long seconds.
His eyes swept over Roderic, lingering for a moment longer around his chest.
’’Enough,’’ he said, raising his hand.
The study immediately fell silent.
Roderic stared curiously at his father, not worried in the slightest, while Margaret seethed with fury.
"I will not punish you for the matter with Dennis," Arthur continued, his voice heavy. "But you still destroyed part of this manor and brought disgrace upon the family."
Before Margaret could even respond, Arthur nodded once.
’’I have decided upon a fitting punishment,’’ he said. ’’Pack your belongings. Tomorrow morning, you’ll leave for the southern forest.’’
He paused for a moment, narrowing his eyes.
’’You are to stay there on your own, without the slightest bit of help, and survive for two weeks.’’
The study went silent for several seconds.
Margaret’s eyes widened so much they nearly popped out of her head.
Her eyes darted between Arthur and Roderic, a red tint gradually appearing on her face.
Roderic only smiled as he stood up.
’’Thank you, Father,’’ he said, bowing slightly. ’’I will come back a changed man.’’
