As the door slammed shut, the room gradually fell silent once more.

Roderic’s lips were pressed tightly together, his gaze falling on the disgusting black sludge covering his body.

’’Yeah...’’ he muttered, disgusted. ’’I should take a bath first.’’

After calling out to Edmund, it didn’t take long before several servants arrived carrying buckets of steaming water.

The moment they reached the doorway, every single one of them froze, some even gagging outright.

Before long, wet cloths were wrapped around their faces, shielding them from the biological attack waiting inside.

Even with that, two servants nearly dropped their buckets.

Roderic simply folded his arms and watched them.

’Man,’ he thought. ’Can’t believe the first thing I miss is a decent shower.’

Just then, Edmund walked over to his side, a cloth covering his face.

’’Young master,’’ he said politely. ’’The bath is nearly ready.’’

Roderic nodded once but remained silent.

A few more servants hurried back and forth, pouring bucket after bucket into a large marble tub.

’’There,’’ Edmund finally said with a small nod. ’’Everything is prepared.’’

Roderic looked at the bath before letting out a quiet sigh.

"Thanks,’’ he said. ’’You can all leave now.’’

Edmund stared at him in surprise, but gave a respectful bow and turned around.

As for the servants? It was almost as though they’d been waiting for those words.

One after another, the servants hurried out of the room, some muttering under their breath.

’’Did he... in his own room?’’

’’Stop, you’re going to make me throw up!’’

’’It seems the third young master really did lose his mind.’’

"I heard he even punched Young Master Dennis unconscious."

Their voices gradually faded into the distance as the door clicked shut.

Without saying a word, he peeled off his ruined clothes and stepped into the steaming bath.

’Finally,’ he thought, letting out a deep sigh.

His gaze fell on the system screen still floating in front of him.

’Only four more minutes...’

He still didn’t exactly understand why he was able to complete the quest despite the system being locked away.

But what was new?

’From the moment I got this system, it’s been utterly broken,’ he thought, running a wet towel down his arms. ’At least its rewards were legit though.’

And for that reason, he truly didn’t pay the broken features any mind.

’It’ll probably get fixed once it’s done recalibrating anyway.’

Letting out another deep sigh, Roderic started scrubbing his chest.

Noticeably, the aura seal was no longer there!

Only after activating his aura did the intricate pattern reappear on his chest once more.

’Interesting,’ he thought, nodding slowly.

Roderic leisurely continued washing the last traces of black sludge off his body.

His eyes remained locked on the system’s countdown.

Finally, as the countdown approached the final seconds, he stopped and stared at the screen.

[System has completed recalibration.]

[Critical error unresolved.]

[Defaulting to the lowest values...]

Before he could react, a familiar system panel popped back up in front of him.

Never mind the changes in his status, Roderic looked over at the first few system windows with a frown.

’It wasn’t resolved?’ he thought. ’What does that even mean?’

He stared at the message for several long moments before shaking his head.

’Forget it.’

He’d never understood what the exact error was anyway. And it seemed like the status window worked just fine either way.

His gaze swept down each stat, noting the massive increases.

Finally, he stopped on the talent section.

’So they call that a talent, huh,’ he thought, smiling. ’It’s actually incredible how much it changed me.’

Dismissing the status window with a simple swipe of his hand, the general system screen appeared in front of him.

Roderic fell silent for a moment.

’Eh?’ he thought. ’That doesn’t seem too difficult?’

But as he pressed to expand the information, his mouth slowly fell open.

Reason for Quest: Has taken over the Kingdom of Valdoria through absolute economic control and many illegal dealings.

Roderic stared at the description for a few long moments.

Slowly, a deep frown began to grow on his face.

’Victor Fenwick... Victor Fenwick... Victor...’ he silently repeated, searching his memories through and through.

But even after doing so, the name still did not ring a bell.

’Now that’s slightly problematic,’ he thought, still frowning. ’How am I meant to find this Victor...?’

His gaze lingered on the quest for a moment before shifting over to its rewards.

There, he saw a familiar number.

’Twenty thousand throne coins...’ he thought. ’I’ve also gained some of those coins from the previous main quest.’

He paused for a moment.

’But what are they even good for?’

There was only one way to find out.

Without another thought, he dismissed the quest window and pressed the Shop tab.

The screen in front of him instantly changed.
