Chapter 11: 11: King-grade Technique Acquired!
Early the next morning, Roderic jumped out of bed.
Unlike the sluggish body he’d woken up in the day before, he now felt strangely refreshed.
’Creating my first aura seal really wasn’t a joke,’ he thought, grinning.
Even after sleeping for hours, his body felt lighter and his senses were far sharper.
Stretching his arms above his head, he walked to the window and pushed it open.
A breeze of cold morning air washed over Roderic. Even so, he remained standing at the window, watching the scene below.
’Who would’ve thought,’ he mused. ’Just yesterday morning, I was worried about paying rent and food.’
Now he was standing inside the bedroom of a noble estate, preparing to spend two weeks surviving in a forest with magical beasts.
Knock! Knock!
’’Young master?’’ Edmund’s voice rang out behind him.
’’Come in,’’ Roderic replied, turning away from the window.
The door immediately flung open. Walking through it came Edmund, carrying a large leather bag over his shoulder.
’’As promised, young master,’’ he said, smiling proudly.
Roderic’s eyes immediately fell on the leather bag. Compared to what he’d expected, it was surprisingly compact.
Carefully placing the bag on Roderic’s bed, Edmund opened the straps.
’’I selected only the finest essentials,’’ he said as he began explaining each item one by one.
After going through the entire bag, Edmund finally took out a small pouch with a serious expression.
’’Basic medicinal herbs,’’ he said, gesturing at the green tar. ’’They’re enough to treat cuts, insect bites, and minor fevers.’’
Roderic couldn’t help but nod in satisfaction.
’’This is perfect,’’ he said, smiling widely. ’’Thanks a lot, Edmund.’’
Without another thought, Roderic slung the bag over his shoulder, pleasantly surprised by how light it felt.
’’Let’s go,’’ he nodded to Edmund.
’’Wait!’’ Edmund called out, reaching into his pocket. ’’There’s one more thing...’’
Carefully, he handed over a tiny pouch no larger than his palm.
As Roderic opened it, he was stunned to see several silver coins placed inside.
’’Should the need arise,’’ Edmund said softly. ’’Just purchase some supplies from nearby villages.’’
For a moment, Roderic remained silent, his lips slowly curving into a warm smile.
He knew very well that Edmund wasn’t wealthy.
After serving the Whitemane family for decades, his wages were comfortable, but far from extravagant. He still had a wife waiting at home and two young grandchildren he spoiled whenever he could.
The few silver coins inside this pouch... they were enough to feed his family for months.
’’Thank you, Edmund,’’ he said slowly as he gratefully accepted the coins. ’’I’ll repay you in the future.’’
The chubby middle-aged man simply smiled.
’’You’ll do that by staying alive,’’ he said, his expression softening.
Roderic glanced at the pouch again, a warm feeling slowly spreading through his chest.
In his previous life, very few people had ever shown him kindness like this without expecting something in return.
Yet this man, who wasn’t even related to him by blood, was willing to hand over months of his own savings without the slightest hesitation.
’Truly a great new life,’ he thought, stashing the pouch away.
Nearly three hours later, Roderic jumped off a simple carriage at the edge of a forest.
The moment his boots touched the ground, he looked up at the sea of large oak trees in front of him.
As the carriage clattered away behind him, a gentle breeze swept through the forest, rustling the leaves.
’So this is the Southern Forest,’ Roderic thought, taking out his hunting knife.
His gaze swept through the trees as he carefully began advancing forward.
’Let’s search for a river,’ he thought. ’Best place to stay for now.’
There wasn’t that much time left before darkness would set in. He wanted to find a place to stay long before then.
The farther he walked, the denser the forest around him became.
Despite having an aura seal and basic survival knowledge from his previous life, each rustle made him look over, just in case a magical beast appeared.
After roughly an hour, Roderic finally came to a stop at the edge of a riverbank.
’Good,’ he thought. ’This’ll make food and water easy.’
As he began walking down the riverside, he spotted a massive tree. Its trunk was nearly five meters wide, while several broad branches stretched out not too far above.
A smile slowly appeared on his face.
’Perfect for now,’ he thought.
After checking his surroundings, he leaped onto the trunk and quickly began climbing up.
Only after he reached its broadest branches did he finally sit down, leaning comfortably against the bark.
From here, he had a clear view of both the river and the surrounding forest.
Even if a magical beast wandered over during the night, he’d notice it long before it reached him.
’’That should do,’’ he mumbled, letting out a deep breath. ’’System! Now it’s your turn.’’
A familiar blue window materialized before him right away.
Without another thought, he pressed the shop tab once more.
—————World Throne Shop—————
Auction
Spells & Techniques
Equipment
Talents
Blueprints
Miscellaneous
Current Balance: 10000 Throne Coins
’As expected,’ he thought, nodding slowly. ’Nothing has changed.’
During the carriage trip, he’d glanced through each of the shop’s pages, carefully analyzing them.
The Spells & Techniques section only offered the basics for each weapon.
It also had mortal-rank techniques and spells, but nothing exceeding 150 coins.
The other pages had been far more interesting, with countless more options. But none of them interested Roderic at this moment.
’’I need a weapon technique,’’ he mumbled, pressing the auction tab. ’’Only in that way can I grow stronger.’’
If he prioritized something else right now, he’d be like being a mage without spells.
While he might have a ton of aura, with no efficient way to use it or train further, he’d just be stuck at his current strength.
His gaze landed on the first listing in the auction right away.
[Twin Dragon Hook Technique]
Rank: King-grade
Price: 9000 Throne Coins.
It was by far the most expensive and highest-ranking technique he’d found.
’’My personal strength comes first,’’ he mumbled once more.
With that, he pressed the purchase button.
[Purchase successful.]
[King-grade technique acquired.]
Before Roderic could even react, a searing pain exploded through his mind.
