Chapter 68: Are You In Love With Angel
April
I should have just left when I had the chance. Now I am being held hostage inside this room.
Oh, Angel Morningstar, when I get hold of you, I’m going to kick that dragon ball of yours. I will kick it so hard that you won’t be able to fuck any girl your red eyes see.
You stupid idiot. Argh!
I threw my hands in the air, let out a loud groan, and marched right back over to the door.
I grabbed the metal handle, yanked it up and down as hard as I could, and threw my shoulder against the frame, but it didn’t budge even a millimeter.
After fighting with the door, I gave up and let the door win.
I sat down on the bed, waiting and hoping that either that annoying bitch or someone else would come and open the door.
Seriously, she was just acting like a normal human being when she suddenly started acting like a freak.
A freak dickhead.
The silence of the room settled around me, heavy and suffocating.
Being alone made me wonder why she acted like that.
I replayed the entire scene in my head over and over again.
One second she had her warm arms wrapped tight around my waist, resting her forehead on my shoulder and whispering soft apologies right into my ear. The next second, her face went totally pale, her eyes widened in pure terror, and she started screaming at me like I had pulled out a hidden weapon.
From calling me a witch to calling me a disease...
I’m infecting her?
What am I infecting her with?
I lay flat on the bed, staring at the ceiling as I tried to figure it out.
The ceiling fan spun in slow, lazy circles above my head.
Angel had been vulnerable for a moment, then suddenly stopped.
It was right when she was about to admit why she didn’t like other people looking at my body.
The moment those words almost spilled past her lips, her whole system seemed to shut down. She had gone from acting cocky to acting completely different.
For a moment, she wasn’t arrogant or dominant.
Scared that I was somehow affecting her.
She was terrified that the walls she built around her heart were starting to crack, and instead of facing it, she panicked and treated me like some dangerous plague.
While I was lost in my thoughts, I heard the door click, and I quickly sat up. I threw my legs over the edge of the mattress, my chest tightening as I prepared myself to yell at whoever walked through that entrance.
I thought it was Angel returning after locking me up for no reason.
But it was the bride, Abigail.
"There you are, girl." Abigail walked in with a smile.
She held the brass room key between her fingers, tossing it lightly in her palm as she stepped inside, her bright hair swinging over her shoulders.
"Oh God, thank goodness you came to my rescue. That crazy girl locked me up in here!" I said, standing up.
I let out a huge breath of relief, smoothing down the front of my jersey as I took a fast step toward her.
"Yeah, that’s Angel for you. Always doing the unimaginable. Are you okay by the way?" Abigail shook her head with a light chuckle, shutting the heavy door behind her.
"Yes I am. She’s evil, annoying, and a heartless bitch. She insulted me in front of everyone at the beach and then locked me up like I’m her captive."
My voice was rising with every word as the frustration rushed right back to the surface. I pointed dramatically toward the hallway outside, my cheeks burning with lingering heat.
"Apologies for her attitude. Angel is complicated. Just hope you won’t leave before my wedding is over."
"I was going to leave, but then Angel apologized."
"She apologized?"
Abigail’s eyes widened.
She froze right in her tracks, her mouth dropping open so wide her jaw almost touched her collarbone.
"Are you being for real? That girl apologized to you? Please tell me, how did she do it? How did she summon herself to actually say those magical words, was kneeling or begging hard?"
Abigail sat me down, waiting for me to spill her the tea.
Then sat down right beside me. Her eyes were sparkling with intense curiosity, staring at my face like she was waiting for me to reveal a massive world secret.
But I wasn’t the chatty type.
I pressed my lips together, shifting uncomfortably under her sharp gaze and keeping the embarrassing details of Angel holding me from behind to myself.
"Since you don’t want to say how she did it, next time she does it, please take a video. I want to see that magnificent beast saying something that isn’t in her dictionary."
Abigail laughed, waving her hand casually in the air as she leaned back against the mattress frame.
"That bitch hardly apologizes for anything. She is too proud and full of herself, thinking that no one can break through her walls."
So I’m not the only one who knows about her firewall.
This girl must know Angel far beyond just having sex with her.
"You have no idea how many times I’ve tried to make that girl bend the knee for me. I did so many things, but she just doesn’t want to believe that love exists." Abigail sighed, her cheerful voice dropping into a much softer, quieter tone.
"You’re in love with Angel?" I muttered,
"Of course I am. Who wouldn’t be in love with that girl? She’s sexy, looks like a goddess with a dick, charismatic, and has a kind, cute personality. But sometimes annoying and Coco crazy.."
Wow.. I’m speechless.
I stared at her, completely stunned by how openly she confessed her feelings for the girl she used to sleep with, right after getting married to an older man.
"It’s not just about the sex we used to have. I challenged myself to make that girl believe in love. But now that I’m married, I can’t do that anymore." Abigail tilted her head back, staring up at the ceiling fan with a faint, sad smile playing on her lips.
"Why do you want to devote yourself to that?"
"Angel and I grew up together. My mom and her mom were best friends. Angel’s parents are the reason that girl doesn’t want love. Growing up and watching her parents live in a loveless marriage made her hate the idea of love."
A heavy weight settled in my stomach as I listened to her words.
"Then, when her mom died, she became different from the friend I grew up with. She became someone difficult to understand."
"I didn’t know that. I just thought Angel acted that way because she was Angel."
My voice came out barely above a whisper. I thought about the way Angel spoke about her mother, the bitter venom in her voice whenever she mentioned my mom spending Mrs. Morningstar’s money, and how she stayed away from the mansion as much as possible.
"Well, Angel is Angel because it’s how her parents shaped her."
Abigail sighed. She shook her head, as if brushing away the dark clouds that had settled over the room, and turned her attention back to me.
"But let’s not talk about that. I don’t want her getting mad because I told you all this."
She turned to me with a curious smile.
Her eyes narrowed slightly, inspecting my flushed cheeks, my messy hair, and the way I held my hands tight in my lap.
"Let’s talk about you instead. Are you in love with Angel?"
