Chapter 67: You’re In Love With April.
Angel
Fuck that bitch!
How dare she try to enchant me?
Trying to bewitch me, huh? I’m sure those people come from a long line of witches or sirens.
Enchantress!
My heart was still pounding against my ribs like a wild beast trying to kick its way out of my chest.
I never beg anyone to stay. Me? Saying the words I’m sorry and please?
The mere thought of those filthy words coming out of my mouth made my skin crawl with pure embarrassment.
Damn it. She must have possessed me with something. I must be drunk on something she gave to me...
And this must be the exact reason I’m attracted to her pussy.
There was no other explanation for it.
The way my voice had softened, the way I had wrapped my arms around her waist like some desperate puppy begging for scraps... it was unnatural.
Contagious bitch.
I reached the wide, tiled lobby, my chest heaving as I tried to regain my composure. I was standing in the lobby by the front desk when I realized the receptionist’s eyes were on me.
The young guy behind the counter froze, his hand hovering over a stack of check-in papers, staring at me with his mouth slightly open.
"What? Why are you staring at me? Is this your first time seeing me?" I snapped at him, forcing him to find something else worth doing.
He jumped, his eyes darting away instantly as he aggressively began sorting a pile of blank room keys.
Nonsense.
Begging her to stay?
I paced back and forth across the floor, running a hand through my messy hair. Since when did that start?
She isn’t the only girl in this district. Why am I going crazy over her?
There were dozens of beautiful, willing omegas walking around this beach right now, even the streets.. practically throwing themselves at my feet.
Any one of them would happily let me break them all night long without making my head spin like this.
And I’m sure if I find someone else, I’ll stop thinking about her.
I just needed to flush her out of my system.
"Angel, there you are!" Abigail came out of nowhere.
She trotted over from the lounge area, holding an iced drink in one hand and looking at me with a sly, knowing grin.
"Did you make her stay?"
"I don’t know. Go ask her for yourself,"
I looked away, crossing my arms over my bare chest and leaning against the edge of the counter to avoid her gaze.
"Is that the room key? Don’t tell me you locked April inside the room..."
When Abigail said that, I just stared at the key in my hand.
The brass room key sat right in the center of my hand, against my skin.
I swear to God, I had no idea I had locked that girl inside.
I must have clicked the lock from the outside on pure instinct while I was fleeing her spell.
Abigail bumped my shoulder playfully.
She let out a loud, delighted laugh that echoed off the high lobby ceiling.
"So you locked her inside because you don’t want her to leave. You like like her, Angel. I’ve never seen you like this..."
"It was a mistake. I had no idea I was locking her in. Here, take it. Go get her out," I instructed, shoving the piece of metal straight into her hand, trying to get rid of it like it was burning my delicate skin.
"And stop saying I like her, okay? I do not like April."
"You’re right. You don’t like her."
"Yes, I don’t."
"You’re in love with April."
"Abigail, stop talking nonsense."
My voice rose, a sharp, cold threat lacing every single word as I glared down at her. But Abigail didn’t even flinch.
"You disappeared for a week, losing money just because you wanted to spend time with her. The way you look at her is different. You’re changing because you’re falling for her. Ohh she doing what I failed to do..."
What the hell was wrong with everyone today?
My jaw clenched until my back teeth throbbed.
First Carlos, and now Abigail.
Why did everyone think I was falling for that girl?
They are all blind, seeing things that aren’t there, trying to turn a simple physical fixation into some cheesy romance story.
I’m Angel Morningstar.
I don’t love.
I don’t have the capacity for it, and I sure as hell don’t have the desire for it. Love was a weakness that destroyed people from the inside out.
I only want sex. Sex is what I thrive on. It’s what I live for.
It was clean, simple, and meant nothing once the high wore off.
"Old me would have been jealous of her," Abigail continued.
She took a slow sip from her straw, her eyes twinkling with pure amusement as she watched my face turn redder by the second.
"But I can’t believe that girl is the one who’s going to break the yoke and finally make you believe in love."
"Abigail, read my lips. I will never fall in love with anyone. No one on this planet can make me fall. You and every other girl couldn’t do it. April won’t either."
I leaned down, getting right into her face, spelling out every single syllable with cold, hard precision.
"Tsk, tsk. You used to call her Ghost, and now you’re calling her by her name. Sooner or later, you’ll be calling her by your own name... Hahaha!"
She burst into another fit of giggles, taking a step backward before I could react.
I was about to grab her, reaching out to snatch her by the shoulder, but she ran away, still mocking me.
Everyone in this goddamn district was fucking insane, mentally and physically.
I shook my head, running both hands over my face and letting out a long, growl into the lobby.
I won’t ever let that girl change me.
I refuse to turn into some pathetic fool who gets turned upside down over a girl with round glasses and a soft voice.
I like being me. The devil of seduction.
The one who takes whatever she wants, whenever she wants it, and walks away without a single scratch on her heart.
Love is nothing but an illusion. A phase. Nothing but a fantasy.
It was a stupid lie people told themselves so they wouldn’t feel so alone in the world.. There’s no such thing as love in this world.
April January can never change the way I feel.
