Chapter 6: Angel Tells April Her Revenge Plan (2)
When someone can’t swim and asks for help, the other person is supposed to help, right?.
But instead, Angel just stood there, watching as I drank water, begging for her mercy.
I broke through the surface for a split second, my glasses gone, the blurry shape of her stupid tall figure standing perfectly still on the edge of the deck. She didn’t move a single muscle, her arms crossed over her chest as she looked down at my struggling form with cold eyes.
"Please... help... me."
The words were instantly cut off by another wave crashing over my mouth, the salty chlorine filling my lungs and making me choke violently.
I continued to beg, but there was no response from her.
Then she left, just walked away....
Was this her revenge? To leave me to drown?
Panic exploded in my chest, a tight, suffocating heat that squeezed my lungs as the bubbles slowed down around my face.
I had always begged Mom to get me out of this mansion, but no.
Every single phone call, every tearful conversation in the middle of the night, she had always shut me down with the same calm voice.
"This is your home now. They are your new family."
She didn’t care about the cold looks or the quiet bullying, completely blind to the reality of what living here actually felt like.
"Angel is your sister. Learn to love and accept her as your family."
The words felt like a cruel joke now, echoing in my mind while the water dragged me further down into the darkness of the deep end.
How am I supposed to accept her when she doesn’t?
She hated me from the very first day, treating me like an unwanted stray that had ruined her perfect, luxury life.
Now, I’m going to die, all because of my own mother’s ignorance.
If only I had enough savings to rent my own apartment in this fucking expensive city, I wouldn’t be drowning to death.
Every single paycheck from the library had been too small, leaving me completely trapped under this roof because I couldn’t afford a single room of my own.
...
Please... I don’t want to die.
I can’t die yet.
There was still so much I hadn’t seen, so many things I wanted to experience away from this terrible house.
I haven’t done anything yet.
My whole life had been nothing but studying, working, and hiding in the corners, completely waiting for a future that hadn’t even started.
I might not find love, but I still need to find my father.
The thought of his face, the missing pieces of my childhood, gave my heart one last, desperate jolt against my ribs.
I need to know why he gave me up and let Mom take me.
I needed answers, a real explanation for why I had been abandoned to face this nightmare alone.
I still want to live.
I forced my eyes open one more time, staring up at the shifting blue surface that looked completely out of reach.
Just when I thought I was dying, I felt something lifting me, like I was being raised from the water.
At first, I thought it was my soul leaving my body, but...
The cold night breeze suddenly hit my wet skin, and I let out a loud, hacking cough, vomiting up a mouthful of stinging pool water.
I was being carried.
I wasn’t floating, and the pressure around my ribs was tight and rough, scraping against the wet fabric of my red dress.
And it wasn’t by someone’s hands.
There were no fingers holding my shoulders, just a strange, scratchy grid of plastic cords wrapping tightly around my legs and waist.
I was inside a fishing net.
The green mesh was tangled all around my limbs, holding me suspended in the air like a heavy sack of laundry.
I was rescued by a fishing net.
I swung slightly over the concrete, the water dripping heavily from my hair as the mesh pulled me completely clear of the pool edge.
Angel came back to rescue me.
She was standing at the other end of the long aluminum pole, her muscles straining under her shirt as she dragged the net across the tiles.
She had gone to pick up the fishing net from the storage room and fished me out of the swimming pool.
She dropped the pole with a loud clatter, leaving me to roll out onto the hard concrete, gasping and shivering violently as the air rushed into my lungs.
Who saves someone like that?
I lay on my side, coughing up the last of the pool water, my chest burning as I stared up at her in complete disbelief.
She could have just dived in and saved me.
Instead of running to the shed and grabbing a tool for fishes, she could have simply reached out a hand and pulled me up.
I know she could swim.
During family dinner, her mom always boasts about her daughter being a great swimmer.
The trophies in the glass case in the living room were proof enough of her speed and power in the water.
Angel was an athlete during her school days.
She had the medals and the training, meaning she could have fetched me out in a single second if she actually cared.
Well, at least I’m not dying today.
I pushed myself up onto my elbows, my teeth clicking together loudly from the sudden blast of the midnight wind against my wet clothes.
A heavy towel was suddenly thrown over my trembling shoulders, cutting off the worst of the cold breeze.
"This should keep you warm, Four Eyes," Angel said.
Her voice was completely calm, devoid of any panic or worry, as if she had just performed a completely normal chore.
She bent down and was now in front of me with a stupid smirk.
The blue underwater lights illuminated the sharp lines of her face, the mocking twist of her lips making my blood boil all over again.
"You could have just dived in instead of doing that," I said, my mouth shivering.
"You’re welcome."
She didn’t even look apologetic, her crimson eyes scanning my dripping wet hair with pure amusement.
"I’m not thanking you. You’re the reason I fell in, in the first place," I reminded her.
I wiped a layer of wet hair out of my face, glare upward through my blurry vision since my glasses were somewhere at the bottom of the deep end.
"You fell in on your own. It’s not my fault you lost your balance."
There is no way I will ever get along with this kind of despicable person.
The pure arrogance radiating from her made me want to push her right into the water alongside my ruined shoes.
I gritted my teeth, locking the hatred deep inside my chest as I struggled to stand up on the wet concrete.
Just when I thought she was going to say something meaningful....
She leaned down again, her shadow completely covering my face, her expression turning completely serious in a split second.
"You should get yourself checked tomorrow. I don’t want you catching a cold or some stupid virus. You need to stay strong, so when I dive into you, making sure I dislocate every joint in your body, if you end up paralyzed, it’ll be because I conquered you, not because of a pathetic cold."
The words were dropped like heavy stones into the quiet yard, her husky voice low and perfectly steady as she stared directly into my eyes.
"What do you mean by those words?"
My heart skipped a beat, a completely different kind of chill running down my spine as I tried to read her unblinking gaze.
"It means I need you to be strong and prepared for your destruction... I’m going to fuck you."
I thought I had heard wrong, because who would say such things to their own sister?
The sheer craziness of the sentence made my brain stall completely, my mouth dropping open as I stared at her.
"That is a rubbish thing to say, and to someone who is your sister," I said.
I pulled the heavy towel up to my chin, my voice rising slightly in pure disgust as I took a tiny step away from her.
"You are not my sister. We are not related by blood... You kicked me, and you are going to pay severely for it. You mentioned earlier that I can hit you as payback, but I’m not the one who’s going to. My dick is going to be the one punishing you for hurting it."
She didn’t blink, completely solid as she laid out her terms without a single trace of hesitation or shame.
I still couldn’t believe she was saying all this.
The reality of her words hung in the air between us, thicker and more dangerous than the scent of the pool chemicals.
And with such a straight face.
There was absolutely no smirk left on her lips, just a cold, focused determination that made me realize she wasn’t playing a game anymore.
"You’re disgusting."
I spat the insult right at her chest, my entire body trembling with a mixture of raw anger and deep, hidden fear.
"Call me whatever you want. I have already made up my mind."
"I am never going to let you fuck me. It will never happen. Never!."
"Oh, Four Eyes, it will happen, and don’t think I’m going to force myself on you. You," Angel said, pointing her finger at me, "will be the one begging me to fuck you. You will beg for my dick inside you..."
Angel stood up after that.
She straightened her spine, her massive height completely dwarfing the space around the pool as she prepared to walk away.
"I will never beg you for such a thing, even if you are the last person on this planet."
I shouted after her, my hands clenching the fabric of the towel so hard my nails bit into my palms.
"We will see about that... Coco, it’s time to go to bed."
She whistled softly, a low sound that brought the orange cat trotting out from the shadows near the back door instantly.
I watched as she and Terror walked into the house.
Angel must be out of her mind to think I would ever give myself to her.
There’s no fucking way I will beg Angel Morningstar to sleep with me.
