Chapter 20: Buying A Sex Toy..
I had never been to a sex shop before. This was something I felt embarrassed and shy to do.
The bright pink and white neon sign hummed softly against the dark brick exterior, the glowing light casting long, distorted shadows across the pavement.
I was just standing in front of the shop, looking up at the signboard, when I felt eyes on me.
Everyone who passed looked at me, but I was wearing thick clothes to cover my shame. I adjusted my glasses, and I also put on a face cap to hide my face and keep my head down.
All this was happening when it was nighttime. It was past 8.
I walked into the shop and unknowingly bumped into someone due to me facing down.
"Oh, I’m so, so sorry..." I instantly apologized, still looking down.
"It’s no problem, girl." The voice happened to be male, and he touched my hand in a way I didn’t quite like.
His fingers slid over the back of my wrist with a slow, deliberate pressure, the skin-to-skin contact sending a sudden shock of pure irritation straight up my arm.
When I looked up at him, he had this smile that gave me irritated chills.
My body was too weak to force my hand away from him, but then another customer arrived, and he quickly let me go.
I adjusted my face cap and walked as fast as I could away from him.
Finding the item I was here for.
While looking at the different varieties of sex toys, I still felt eyes on me.
I don’t know if it was because of my heat or if I was just hallucinating.
I felt an awful smell around me. It was suffocating, and I couldn’t stay inside the shop any longer. A sour, bitter scent of Alpha pheromones began to fill the aisle, choking my lungs and making my chest tighten with a sudden, desperate need to escape the building.
So when I got to the dildo section, I grabbed the first sealed box my fingers touched, not even looking at the size or the color as I bolted back toward the front register with my heart hammering against my ribs.
When the cashier was scanning the product, he kept looking at me in a strange way.
Seriously, why is everyone in this shop such a freak?
It’s not like I’m the first Omega to enter a sex shop.
"Do you have an Alpha with you here?"
The cashier leaned forward across the counter, his voice dropping into a low, inquisitive tone that made the sweet scent of my un-mated heat feel suddenly exposed.
"No. Just hurry up and let me make payment. I need to leave," I said.
I shoved my debit card toward his hand, my voice carrying a sharp, defensive edge that showed him I wasn’t in the mood for any casual conversation.
"I need your ID, please."
He slid the plastic card back across the counter, his expression turning perfectly flat and professional as he tapped the digital screen of his register.
"Why do you need my ID? It’s not like I am buying something illegal."
"Obviously not, but it’s mandatory. Lately, things have been happening in the neighborhood, and it’s a must to check identities."
I had no choice but to give him my ID.
As he was scanning it to confirm the card, he muttered,
"April Morningstar... 21..."
Then he looked at me again, then at the card.
This was getting too embarrassing and annoying.
I had to summon my voice and demand my card back.
"Can I have that, please?"
He gave it to me, and I made my payment.
Finally, I got what I wanted, and it was time to go home.
I was walking home when I still had the same feeling of being followed.
I felt cold even though I was burning up inside.
I hastened my pace, walking as fast as I could to get home.
I kept my eyes pinned straight ahead, my sneakers pounding against the concrete as I tried to reach the bright lights of the main intersection.
Then, from nowhere, someone stood in front of me.
I couldn’t see properly, and when I adjusted my glasses, it became clear.
It happened to be the man from the sex shop.
Why was he here?
My mind raced through a hundred panicked thoughts, my chest heaving as the thick scent of his sour Alpha pheromones hit my nose again.
Was he following me?
The realization turned my stomach into ice, the reality of my vulnerable Omega heat making me feel completely stranded in the dark evening.
I would have turned away and made a run for it, but my destination was in the direction he was standing.
So I adjusted my glasses, tightly held my paper bag, and walked forward, passing him.
"I could do better than that toy you just bought."
The low, mocking voice rolled out right next to my ear, the crude words turning my face a deep, furious shade of red under the cap.
I ignored him and kept walking, wishing I was already at the bus stop where I could take a bus home.
I didn’t say a single word, my fingers clenching the paper handles until the cardboard started to crinkle loudly under the sheer pressure of my grip.
The man wouldn’t leave me alone.
Even when I got to the bus stop, he was still there.
He leaned against the metal frame of the glass shelter, his eyes tracking every single breath I took as I stood near the curb.
"An Omega like you needs a real man to suppress that heat of yours."
The sour scent of his presence grew thicker, a demanding, aggressive push of pheromones that made my knees feel incredibly weak and unsteady.
I still did not answer him.
I kept my jaw clamped tight, staring straight down at the white painted lines of the asphalt while the internal fever took another sharp step upward.
Even though people were around us, I kept my distance.
Then, when the bus arrived, it happened to be rush hour, and then...
It hit me again. Hard.. a sudden, violent wave of dizziness crashed right through my skull, the severe heat in my stomach surging upward until my vision began to tilt.
My vision began to spiral, and little by little, everything became blurry.
I was dizzy and felt like collapsing.
My knees buckled slightly underneath the weight of my heavy sweater, my fingers losing their grip on the canvas strap as I leaned toward the metal pole.
"Are you okay, miss?" I heard someone say.
I couldn’t bring out a word from my mouth.
My throat was completely locked tight, a dry gasp the only sound I could manage as the darkness started to creep into the edges of my sight.
Then I felt a hand wrap around me.
It was unfamiliar. An awful scent.
"My wife is not doing quite well. Don’t worry, you can enter the bus. I will drive her home myself."
His loud, confident voice easily dismissed the concerned looks of the surrounding passengers, his hand tightening around my waist with an unyielding force.
I couldn’t stop him or defend myself.
My muscles were completely paralyzed by the sudden peak of the heat cycle, my head rolling back against his shoulder as my glasses slid down my nose.
Everyone entered the bus, and it left.
I was left alone with the man at the bus stop.
"Let go of her."
