Chapter 19: I Would Never Go To Angel Morningstar
And there I was on the bed, naked, my fingers curling inside me, trying to make myself come, but still nothing.
The slick, heavy heat between my thighs was pulsing with a raw, demanding intensity, but my clumsy movements did absolutely nothing to break the tight, suffocating knot of pressure building up in my lower stomach. The friction felt completely flat, a useless, frustrating ache that left my body trembling with a deep, empty hunger that I couldn’t seem to satisfy no matter how hard I tried.
I was still sweating, my breath uneven.
Struggling to dial the number I intended to call...
I finally dialed Katie’s number.
She also happened to be an omega, someone who was just like me.
She knew the exact rules of the monthly cycle, the weight of the biology that could completely derail a normal person’s life if the proper medicine failed to do its job.
I needed to ask her how she always got through her heats when they came.
She was the only person I could turn to without risking my pride, the only source of practical advice I had left before the primal instincts completely wiped out my ability to think straight.
Even when we talked on the phone, my voice was low but audible enough for the girl to hear my question.
And this is what she replied.
"There is an Alpha you live under the same roof with... why don’t you go to the Alpha?"
The question rolled out of the speaker with a lazy, obvious weight that made my stomach do a sudden, violent flip of pure disgust.
Like, she had to be kidding.
Didn’t I know that?
I know there’s an Alpha in this house, but why would I go to my own stepsister for help like this?
Why would I ask Angel to help me with my heat?
This is exactly what Angel wants.
She was playing that ridiculous scrapbook game just to break my pride, waiting for a single crack in my armor so she could claim her victory and push me around for the rest of my days.
Me begging her, i’d rather stay in heat than let Angel Morningstar help me with it.
There is no fucking way I’d give her the pleasure.
She would never get the satisfaction of seeing me drop my defenses, never get to use my own biology as a tool to mock my plain librarian life.
Even if it kills me, I would never go to Angel Morningstar.
"Katie, please say something else, another alternative... please. I feel like I’m dying here," I muttered.
I squeezed my eyes shut, my voice cracking into a desperate plea as the internal temperature of my body took another sharp step upward.
"I don’t think so. It hasn’t hit you yet because when it does... you won’t be looking for an alternative."
"Katie..." My voice was barely a gasp now, my throat tightening as the deep, throbbing pressure in my lower stomach pulled another ragged breath out of my lungs.
"Try fingering yourself. It sometimes helps, but there’s no guarantee."
"I’m currently doing that right now... and it’s not doing a thing. I’m not even feeling anything."
My slick fingers moving in a frantic, useless rhythm that felt entirely numb against the raging heat of my core.
"How long are your fingers? Because I have seen those fingers of yours, and they don’t look like..."
"Katie, say something positive," I let out a small groan.
"If you don’t want the Alpha under your roof, then go find other Alphas. I have many Alpha contacts who help me during my heat..."
She spoke completely casually, as if she were offering to share the phone number of a reliable mechanic or a good takeout restaurant down the street.
"You don’t take suppressants for your heat?"
"Why would I need suppressants when I got Alphas to suppress me? They do it better than those artificial pills. Even the rutting ones are the best. I always know how to handle them. Should I send you maybe two to five contacts and see who is available?"
"No, thank you," I said quickly.
The response flew out of my mouth before she could even think about opening her contact list, the mere thought of inviting a complete stranger into my room making my skin crawl with fear.
I can’t be losing my virginity to some stranger Alpha.
And what if I meet the dangerous ones who can’t handle omegas?
"Any alternative?" I asked.
Katie sighed loudly over the phone.
The sharp rush of air through the line told me exactly how thin her patience was growing with my stubborn, old-fashioned refusal to follow her path.
She was getting pissed at my rejection.
She couldn’t understand why I was fighting so hard against the natural flow of the cycle, treating my physical boundaries like a set of rigid, unbroken laws.
Well, I’m not like her.
She embraced the wild, dangerous side of the secondary genders, while I preferred to keep my life completely simple, predictable, and quiet behind the desk.
She likes bad things, and I don’t.
Her stacks of dark romance paperbacks were proof enough of her taste, full of red flags and dominant characters that would make me run in the opposite direction.
I’m not the type to do all that.
I belonged in the quiet aisles, surrounded by neat rows of cataloged books and normal, peaceful interactions that didn’t involve raw pheromones or intense power struggles.
"Oh, dear virgin omega, since you don’t want the Alpha under your roof or my contacts, and you’ve been masturbating but it’s not working... use a dildo, maybe a vibrating one. It might help you get there," she said.
"I don’t have one," I muttered.
"Girl, what kind of world are you living in? Why don’t you go find the Beta book girl? Maybe she can help. It’s not going to work because, well, she’s a Beta, but you can try, who knows..."
She scoffed lightly, her mind instantly searching for another person to throw into the mix just to get my problem off her hands.
"We are not a thing, Katie. I lied about the date. It never happened."
I confessed the small deception quickly, the energy required to maintain the fake romance completely vanishing under the intense pressure of my fever.
"April, I gotta go. You have three options... Angel, my Alpha contacts, or go to a fucking sex shop and buy a fucking sex toy. Bye.."
And she hung up without waiting for me to respond.
How easy does she think all this is?
So I had no choice.
I had to take control of the situation myself before the primal instincts grew too powerful for my mind to manage, forcing me into a corner I couldn’t escape.
I’d rather choose a machine than let any Alpha get near my body.
The mechanical option was completely safe, a clinical, private solution that wouldn’t require me to compromise my boundaries or give up my pride to anyone else.
So I took a few of my pills.
They helped a little.
A small, temporary coolness washed through my veins, dulling the sharp edge of the intense hunger just enough for my mind to clear for a brief moment.
It was like a limited-time effect.
I knew the fire would be back within an hour or two, the medicine acting like a leaky dam that could barely hold back the massive weight of the cycle.
I put on my clothes and glasses.
When I stepped out, I realized that Angel wasn’t at home.
It was a good thing because I don’t know how my body would have reacted with her around.
If her dominant Alpha presence had crossed my path while I was in this fragile state, the weird, sparking connection from my dream might have taken over completely.
I’m not going to give her the pleasure.
So, around the evening, I went to look for a sex shop.
Something I had never done before.
