Chapter 3: WE ARE GOING TO FIX THIS

Eudora burst into tears when Daven raised his voice at her, something he had never done before, and Daven felt the headache that crept in.

He was going to deal with Eudora later.

"That was a mistake, Seara," Daven said after Eudora had left, but Seara ignored him again and entered the pack house. "You need to understand."

"What should I understand?! It was you who had been fooling around with the woman you kept saying was your ’little sister,’ but why is it I who needs to understand?!" Seara gritted her teeth, holding herself back from crying. "How could you betray me?"

"Seara, let me explain. It was only a one-time thing; don’t make it sound like I have been betraying you all this time."

Seara was very disappointed. From the way Daven talked, he downplayed what he had done and pictured Seara as the irrational one.

He thought it was only a simple mistake that could be fixed.

Seara was filled with disgust even at the sight of his face, which reminded her of what they had done the night before. It was something that you couldn’t erase.

"I, Seara Easton Thorne, reject you..."

However, before Seara could finish her sentence to reject Daven, he had slapped her so hard that she fell to the floor.

The room was spinning, and her cheek was burning as she held it. The skin was hot, and for a while, she couldn’t comprehend what had struck her until Daven yelled at her. He was livid.

"I have had enough of your tantrum!" Daven roared at Seara. His eyes filled with rage. "I say we will talk about this! I have tolerated enough of your misbehavior! You should be the luna of this pack! This is not how we fix problems! How could you want to reject me for one mistake?!"

Seara had never seen him so furious before, and truth be told, it was very terrifying. He was the Alpha, after all. He looked like an entirely different person.

"I will not tolerate this anymore! You have humiliated me and put me through an uncomfortable situation! You made me deploy all the warriors to look for you, leaving them wondering about what happened between us!"

Daven showed her the side that she had never seen before, which confused her even further.

Seara stopped listening when Daven spoke about how important communication was and the sacred mate bond between them, about how it was not strong enough because he had not yet marked and mated with her.

At that time, Seara was too young; she was seventeen, while Daven was twenty-four, so he decided to wait until she was eighteen, which should be now.

Seara turned eighteen two weeks ago, and they would have a ceremony for the alpha and the luna within a month; only then would the mating and the marking follow.

But unfortunately, that didn’t seem to happen.

By the time Daven knelt in front of Seara, his expression softened. "I don’t want to hurt you, but you should know that you are the luna of the pack. You have to be mindful of your actions and think carefully before throwing a tantrum." He stretched out his hand to caress her cheek, his brows furrowed. "We can fix this." His voice was gentle.

And the monologue continued.

"I will forgive you for your outburst this time, but you are not a child anymore, and that’s not a proper example of a luna." Daven grabbed her elbow to pull Seara up. "Next time, don’t throw the words of rejection easily."

"Next time? Are you planning to sleep with her again next time?" Seara’s voice was icy cold.

"That was a mistake. It will never happen again." Daven shook his head. "You need to calm down, and we will talk about this again tomorrow with a clear head. You are my mate. Someone with whom I will spend the rest of my life. Don’t throw it away for an impulsive anger."

Daven leaned over and kissed her forehead as he always did. He furrowed his brows when he saw the redness on her cheek and kissed it as well.

Daven talked some more, and after that, he left, while Seara sat there, watching him walk away. She was still astonished at how he turned things around and made them sound as if they were her fault.

He emphasized the fact that she ran away, not the reason behind it.

Her head ached, and if Daven was right about anything, it was that she was in dire need of rest.

Seara couldn’t even feel her body when she went to her bedroom and lay down.

Soon enough, Seara fell asleep, only to wake up an hour or so later to someone shaking her shoulder to wake her up.

Her eyes were so heavy, but the person was persistent.

"Wake up now."

Seara recognized his voice. It was his adoptive father, the former gamma of the pack. Currently, his son was the gamma for Daven.

With a heavy heart, Seara opened her eyes and found Javen was not alone; he had come with Tansy. Both of them looked rigid, and she immediately knew it must be something very important.

She wouldn’t be surprised if they had learned what had happened.

"What did you say to Eudora?" Javen asked; his voice was tight with emotions, while Tansy, her adoptive mother, looked at her with disappointment.

"What?" Seara sat down in her bed. Her mind was alert now.

"Did you call Eudora a ’whore’?" Javen narrowed his eyes angrily.

"I did," Seara admitted that easily.

"How dare you?" Tansy gasped in surprise. "How could you pick up such crude words?! That must be because you befriend those omegas!"

Tansy was referring to Neriah and Eira. Both of them were the omegas of the pack.

There was no small talk; they didn’t even care enough to ask how Seara felt after the betrayal. "Do you even know why I called her that?"
