Chapter 22: THE COMFORTING FEELING
Zade entered the ward, and he looked at the bed right away, only to find it was empty. His heart skipped a beat until he found Seara at the corner of the room.
She sat on the floor, hugging her legs and burying her face in her knees. Her long auburn hair was like a blanket, cascading down to cover her body. It was a little disheveled, but it was already way better after Zade spent 10 hours detangling every knot. He personally washed her hair as well.
Only when he saw her did he calm down significantly.
With a careful step, Zade approached Seara. She was like a skittish kitten that would run away if you made a sudden move to startle it.
"Seara?" Zade knelt in front of her and caressed her head. Her hair was rough, and the color was dull.
Hearing his voice, Seara lifted her head slowly, and Zade saw the blood on her hand. She yanked the IV drip again and caused the bleeding.
"What are you doing here?" Zade grabbed her hand and put pressure on the wound from the syringe. He mind-linked Zephyr, who was still outside the door, to call for Caroline.
Seara was scared because without Zade, the room felt enormous, and it made her panic. She was used to the walls surrounding her; somehow, the walls had become a sense of safety for her.
"Too spacious..." Seara said in a small voice. She rarely spoke, and when she did, it was almost like a whisper, as if she were mumbling to herself. "Too big... You were gone..."
"It’s okay. I am here now." Zade stretched out his hand and waited until Seara took it.
Caroline had told him that he had to be patient with her, and it would be better to wait until she took the first initiative.
Well, needless to say, patience was not the Lycan king’s forte; everyone knew that.
But in front of his mate, he showed exceptional patience, as he waited until Seara moved closer toward him and took his hand.
Zade said he wouldn’t hurt her, and so far, he hadn’t, despite how scary he was occasionally. Moreover, Seara liked his touch. There was this odd sensation when they made skin-to-skin contact.
"I will take you back to your bed."
Gently, Zade carried Seara back to the bed. Her blood stained her white hospital gown and the sheet. It also stained his expensive shirt.
However, blood was an intimate sight for the Lycan king. It wouldn’t upset him, nor would it faze him, but when it came to her, Zade was a little bit upset because she got hurt again.
Thankfully, not long after, Caroline came with a few nurses. She fixed the IV drip and checked on Seara’s condition. She was way better now and was ready for the transfer. Ace also told Zade that everything was ready now.
But they had a new problem because it turned out that the whirring sound from the helicopter blade was too loud for Seara, and it caused her a breakdown.
She thrashed her body and clutched Zade desperately, especially when she saw there were a lot of people there—too many unfamiliar faces in the crowd.
Zade could feel her body trembling, just like that night when she heard the voice of the alpha from the Blackthorne Pack.
For a moment, Zade remembered what Zephyr had informed him.

"Your brother is so cold with me," Eudora said to Enid. Daven might not realize it, but the way he treated her was back to square one.
It was the same as when Seara was just imprisoned, if not worse.
"Probably because you still can’t produce an heir after three years together," Enid replied casually as she sipped her drink.
Currently, the three of them were in a bar. Daven and his beta and gamma were busy strengthening the security of the pack; they also sent some people to get more information about the Lycans’ whereabouts and what they were up to.
Therefore, Eudora invited Enid and Brigid to go out, since she knew Daven wouldn’t come home.
"Maybe that’s karma," Brigid said lightly, but then she raised both of her arms. "I am just saying. You were the reason why Seara lost her wolf spirit."
Brigid must have been drunk because she couldn’t control herself with the things that she was saying.
"What did you say? The idea came from you and..." Eudora turned her head at Enid. "You were the one who provided the poison."
Enid frowned; she disliked the way Eudora talked to her. "Don’t blame me; you were the one who agreed to it and was so eager. So, the karma is yours alone."
Hearing that, Brigid chuckled. "If Daven had fucked me instead of you, he would have three pups by now," she laughed mockingly at Eudora.
Brigid had too many drinks; she let her tongue loose.
However, in the next moment that she saw, she found herself on the floor as Eudora pummeled her fists against her face, and both of them shifted into their beast forms.
It was a good thing that the bar was located within the pack, as it meant only shifters were there...

They had to sedate Seara to lift her onto the air ambulance that would take her to Wvern City, to their hospital.
But even in her sleep, Seara clutched Zade’s hand. She furrowed her brows, showing a sign of distress, and when she woke up, she had another breakdown; therefore, she had to be sedated again.
Meanwhile, Ace went to Wvern City by car, which would take him two days, and Zephyr had to stay behind to gather more information about what actually happened in the Blackthorne Pack.
This time, he didn’t come openly.
It was well known that the Lycan king had left the town, and the royal beta was spotted leaving the area as well; therefore, they assumed Zephyr had left too.
