Claimed by the Mad Lycan King

Chapter 21: THE SIGN OF MADNESS

Daven attended the funeral of the warriors that the Lycan king had killed when he trespassed on the pack. The families were mourning; they demanded justice for their sons, but when the compensation from the Lycan arrived, and they learned who had killed their family members, they shut up quickly.

Zade’s name was enough to instill fear in their hearts. They knew him as the mad Lycan king from the Shadow Blood Kingdom.

Even though not all of them had seen him in person, the story about him was a horror lullaby for the werewolves.

"The royal gamma has left," Eudora said. She hugged Daven from behind while she was only in a towel. "You don’t need to worry about anything."

"Do you think he will believe that?" Daven glanced over his shoulder and saw the sweet smile on Eudora’s lips.

He knew what information Eudora had spread among the pack members about Seara and realized how wrong it was and how harmful it could be for her.

But then, what other options did he have?

"Is there a reason he will not believe it?" Eudora moved to stand in front of Daven. "It’s not like there will be someone who will say otherwise." She tiptoed and kissed Daven on the lips as she took off the towel that wrapped her body. "What is weighing on your mind now?"

Seara.

But Daven couldn’t say the name out loud. He still couldn’t get rid of her completely.

"Nothing."

"She is a cheater," Zephyr said.

He just returned from the Blackthorne Pack and told Zade about the information that he got from there.

Currently, the two of them were in the corridor, right outside Seara’s bedroom. This was the only moment when Zade left her alone, since he thought she was sleeping, and Zephyr returned with the information that he had been waiting for.

"A cheater?" Zade raised his brows, and Zephyr elaborated on the information he got.

Based on what the pack members said, Seara was initially the future luna of the pack, but she cheated on the alpha. On the day the alpha learned about the betrayal, he severed the mate bond between them.

"And because of that, she lost her wolf. The people in that pack believed that a shifter who lost their wolf spirit was a runt, and it happened because the Moon Goddess unfavored them; that’s why they are a sign of bad luck. Based on the tradition, they should have killed her, but because of the alpha’s compassion, they locked her away at the outskirts of the pack."

Zephyr then told Zade a few more stories that he got from the people there.

"People remembered her as an uncultured young girl who had loved to tangle with men ever since she was very young, and having the alpha as her mate didn’t stop that."

Zade didn’t say anything even after Zephyr finished with his story.

"Zade?" Zephyr called him carefully. "What now?"

Disloyalty was a distasteful trait for a Lycan, especially when it came to a mate. A werewolf might have a slip in that matter, but a Lycan... they were loyal to their bond; it ran in their blood, notably to their other half.

Therefore, to know that you were having a cheater as your destined mate was a rather unpleasant reality.

"Who is the man she cheated on with?" Zade’s voice was harsh even though he didn’t shout the words, and Zephyr could feel the rage beneath it.

"I have asked around; they said the man was banished, but some people said he was killed because it was an act of betrayal, and some others said they didn’t know who the man was." Zephyr touched his chin. "I tried to dig deeper, but I still can’t find a clue. I need more time."

This was all the information that he could gather within three days.

"Stay and get more information." Zade walked away. He wanted to go back to the room with his mate, but Zephyr blocked his way, preventing him from leaving.

"Are you going to keep her?" Zephyr furrowed his brows. It was so rare for the Lycan to find their destined mate. Most of the time, they would take a chosen mate from the werewolf race; but even so, it was even rarer for a child to be born from such a union.

That was why the number of the Lycans didn’t increase for so many years; if anything, their number would decrease.

Zade didn’t answer the question, but the way he glared at Zephyr was enough for the royal gamma to realize that he had phrased the words wrongly.

"No, I mean... if that were true, what if she did that to you? Disloyalty has no place in our kind, Zade."

"Then I will kill every man she touches. Until she understands I am the only one she can be with." Zade pushed Zephyr aside.

Zephyr was too stunned to speak because the thing was that he believed Zade would do exactly that. He was indeed crazy enough to keep his word.

"What are you doing staring at the door?"

Ace’s voice startled Zephyr, and when he turned around, he saw the royal beta walking toward him. He wanted to inform Zade that they were ready to move Seara to the Wvern Hospital. They would use an air ambulance to move Seara.

"Ace." Zephyr grabbed Ace’s elbow before he could enter the room. "No matter what, don’t touch that woman and don’t let that woman touch you."

Ace furrowed his brows when he heard what Zephyr said out of the blue. "What? You skipped your meal, so your brain doesn’t function well?"

Zephyr hit Ace on the back in response to the comment. "I had my meal; my brain and my stomach were full. Just remember what I say, because I still want to see you live for another hundred years. We need to reproduce more baby Lycans."

Ace palmed Zephyr’s face and pushed him away. "Get lost, Zeph."

"No, I am serious; Zade showed the sign of his madness again."
