Chapter 23: MY FRIEND
However, the people Daven sent to keep their eyes on the Lycans had missed an important thing: Zephyr stayed near the pack.
This time, he did not approach openly as he had during his first visit. It helped by the fact that not many people were familiar with his face.
For a small pack like this, they didn’t interact or have a business relation with the Lycans. Only the larger packs had the opportunity to conduct business with Lycans and see them in person.
Therefore, even though this was the second time Zephyr was here, among people in this bar, he was still a stranger.
The reason why he ended up in the bar and carried out the gamma’s sister was that he followed Eudora with her other two friends.
He was sitting too far away; thus, he couldn’t hear their conversation. However, when the fight broke out and people tried to separate the two women, who had shifted into their wolf forms, Zephyr joined in.
"I dare you to say it again!" Eudora roared angrily at Brigid, while Enid held her back.
"Enough! You make a fool of yourself!" Enid snapped at Eudora and glared at Brigid to stop her provocation. "You are the luna! Behave yourself!" she hissed viciously at Eudora’s ear, while the music still blasted the bar.
"I think Seara is not the bad luck here, but it’s you," Brigid said her final words before she turned around and left with difficulty as she shoved the other people around her.
Zephyr was intrigued by what Brigid said, so he followed her out of the bar and saw her passed out in the parking lot.
"Well, what now?" Zephyr crouched down and scratched his head, staring at the unconscious woman in front of him.

Seara woke up and stared at the ceiling. It was a familiar place, since she had been here for a week now. Whenever she woke up from her sleep, she would look for something familiar to her, just in case she had been moved somewhere when she was asleep.
Or... she might find herself back in that cell.
She lifted her hand and saw that the IV line had been put back there.
"Don’t take it out."
The voice was different from Zade’s, which startled her, and when she looked to her left, she saw a man in a black suit staring at her from the door.
This hospital room was significantly smaller than the previous one, probably twice the size of her cell, with only her bed, a table, a sofa, and an en suite bathroom.
Therefore, the man was not too far from her. He had dark copper hair with brown eyes and was well-built with a quiet manner.
She knew him; if she was not mistaken, his name was Ace. Zade happened to mention his name once in their conversation; she had seen him a few times before, though he always came to talk to Zade about a few things.
Seara looked around, but she couldn’t find Zade.
"Zade...?" She mumbled the name. She was anxious because she felt uncomfortable with Ace being here. But she tried to calm herself down.
It was not like Seara didn’t realize she had caused a lot of trouble with her breakdown, but there was a time when she couldn’t even control that.
Even now, her mind told her to pull out the IV drip because it was uncomfortable, but she remembered the look on Zade’s face when he saw the blood on her.
With that reminder, Seara balled her fists so she wouldn’t yank it out again.
"Zade will be here soon. He has some business that he has to attend," Ace replied, knowing Seara was looking for Zade.
Ace had heard the report that Zephyr had managed to gather. This woman was a cheater, and she lost her wolf spirit because of the rejection.
He didn’t completely believe that.
As a Lycan, he had lived long enough to know that stories could be manipulated. But it didn’t mean he easily trusted this frail woman, especially now that Zade had completely put his guard down against her, since she was his destined mate.
And then silence followed; neither of them talked, and Seara kept staring at the door behind Ace, waiting for Zade to step in.
"Tell me something." Ace couldn’t help it. "Why did you end up in that cell?" He was not allowed to ask Seara anything, especially about her imprisonment.
It was too early. That was what Zade said to Ace, warning him not to ask questions.
However, this might be the only moment Ace could be alone with Seara, and he wouldn’t skip this chance to see for himself whether this woman was as bad as the information said about her.
On the other hand, Zade had tried to ask Seara once, and she looked scared. She showed the sign that she was in pain when she tried to remember, so Zade had never tried it again.
"How did you end up in that cell? What happened to you?"
Seara lowered her head. She tried to remember, but whenever she got close to the memory, an excruciating pain hit her. It almost felt as if it were something that she should have buried and kept there.
"I don’t... know..." Seara fiddled with the blanket; she felt the discomfort that gnawed in her.
"Why are you alone there?" Ace stared at the sign. He had to stop, but he didn’t know when he would get the chance again, so he pushed it a little bit more.
"I—I was not..." Seara remembered Sybill. "I had a... friend."
"A friend?" Ace recalled that Zade had mentioned once that Seara was alone in that cell. "Who?"
"Sybill..." Seara said. "She is still there... can we get her out too?" She bit her lip nervously. Would it be too much for her to ask? Would they be upset and send her back there?
"Where?"
"In—In the cell."
