An Awakener with the Gamer Class
Chapter 39: Strong

Chapter 39: Strong

Violet stopped a short distance from the dome’s wall, which was formed entirely of light.

It posed no obstacle to humans, whether entering from outside or leaving from within.

To make things even more interesting, Violet released three insect drones to record everything.

The python stopped trying to escape and turned its gaze toward her.

Like a cobra, it could raise its body upright—only much higher. With a body over thirty meters long and three massive heads, it looked even more terrifying.

At that moment, Enzo frowned again.

For some reason, he suddenly had a premonition that Violet wouldn’t be able to kill this python.

It sounded ridiculous.

If its vital point was destroyed, how could a python possibly survive?

But perhaps this one was different. A snake’s vital point was in its head, and this python had three heads. Enzo suspected she would have to sever all three necks or destroy all three heads.

"Release!"

He activated Violet’s newest skill, Instant Death.

With nothing more than a glare, an invisible attack shot from Violet toward the python.

A weaker target would die instantly from the skill. If it survived, its strength would be reduced as it struggled to resist the attack.

The last time Enzo had used it, the target had trembled violently while resisting Instant Death.

This python, however, merely shivered slightly.

ROAR!

All three mouths opened as it roared at Violet.

Instant Death had affected it, but only enough to reduce its power by roughly thirty percent.

The remaining seventy percent was still overwhelmingly powerful.

Enzo couldn’t help wondering how a mere Level 16 monster could be so tough.

’Could it be because it has three heads?’ he wondered.

Instant Death was a mental attack.

With three heads, the python could seemingly divide the burden of resisting the skill, greatly reducing its overall effect.

Shua! Shua!

Violet immediately released countless invisible Mana Threads.

The python remained unaware as the threads wrapped around its body and all three heads.

"Damn it!"

The moment the python pulled backward, Violet was nearly dragged along with it.

Fortunately, she could extend the threads.

The gap in physical strength between them was simply too great.

Trying to restrain it with the threads only placed Violet at a disadvantage.

Whoosh!

Perhaps enraged, the python suddenly unleashed an immense suction force from all three of its open mouths.

Violet’s eyes widened.

Even though she stood outside the dome, she found herself being pulled toward it.

The barrier only blocked physical objects—not elemental effects.

"Take this!"

Violet hurled the red axe.

The suction only accelerated its flight.

Spinning like a propeller, it shot straight toward the middle neck.

Just when Enzo thought it would succeed, the python’s tail whipped out with incredible speed, intercepting the attack.

The axe embedded itself in the tail.

With a violent flick, the python sent it flying high into the air.

’This is bad!’ Enzo exclaimed inwardly.

Violet immediately fired several Mana Threads in the opposite direction, wrapping them tightly around a massive boulder.

BANG!

A loud explosion echoed as the threads stretched to their limit.

Veins bulged across Violet’s body as she desperately held onto the threads, preventing them from slipping off the rock.

Pulling her own lightweight body was naturally easier, even while fighting against the suction behind her.

By continuously shortening the threads, she managed to inch herself farther away.

The farther she got from the python, the weaker the suction became.

In the end, Violet successfully escaped.

She let out several relieved breaths, mirroring Enzo’s own relief.

How could Enzo not panic?

The thought of Violet being swallowed whole by that python terrified him.

Violet then shifted her gaze toward the man who had followed her.

He was currently recording everything with his phone.

"Did you know the python was this powerful?" she asked coldly.

The man hurriedly shook his head.

"I only knew the Three-Headed Python gives an enormous amount of EXP. I had no idea it was this strong. Even if I reached Level 21, I probably still wouldn’t be able to kill it," he answered with a bitter smile.

He was telling the truth.

He was just as shocked as Enzo.

No wonder Augus had dared to leave it here.

It wasn’t just because of his reputation.

The python itself was powerful enough to fend off any Awakener hoping to use it as an EXP farm.

Shua!

Violet’s hand moved in a blur and snatched the man’s phone.

With a single squeeze, she crushed it into pieces.

"Y-You...!"

The man stared in disbelief.

Before he could say another word, countless invisible threads suddenly wrapped around his body.

He immediately lost his balance and crashed to the ground.

No matter how desperately he twisted and struggled, it was completely useless.

"What are you trying to do?" he asked in panic.

"I need bait," Violet replied.

She hadn’t given up.

Her goal now was to sever as many of the python’s necks as possible in one attack.

To do that, she needed something to divert the monster’s attention away from her.

Even though she possessed Invisible Mode, she believed the chances of success would be much higher if the python focused on something else.

"Y-You...! You dare do this? It’s illegal! It’s a serious crime!" the man shouted between ragged breaths.

"You can relax. I’ll pull you back out afterward. Just pray you’re not unlucky," Violet answered.

Without giving him another chance to speak, she swung her arm.

The Mana Threads followed her movement.

The man was flung straight into the dome.

His terrified scream echoed through the valley.

BANG!

He landed a considerable distance away from the python—but still inside the barrier.

The python immediately shifted all three heads toward him.

Its cold eyes locked onto the man as it charged forward.

"N-No! Not me! I’m just bait! That woman will kill you if you come after me!" the man screamed frantically.

But he wasn’t dealing with an intelligent creature.

He was facing a monster driven by savage instincts and an overwhelming desire to kill humans.

With a human much closer to it, the python naturally focused on the nearest prey instead of Violet, who was still farther away.
