Chapter 38: Three-Headed Python
"Not bad..." Enzo nodded, his reaction surprisingly calm.
What he had truly hoped for was the ability to borrow all of Violet’s power, but it seemed things wouldn’t be that simple.
Although he wasn’t overly excited about this skill, it was still an S-Class Skill, so he hadn’t lost anything.
If he could make good use of it, it would allow him to grow even further.
However, this skill was incredibly expensive.
He would have to spend SP to obtain Talents and Skills for any new characters he created.
He doubted other Awakeners would willingly spend their own SP on his characters.
After all, wouldn’t it be better for them to roll the Gacha for themselves?
"Mm!"
Enzo suddenly straightened his back.
He had spotted a snake nearly fifteen meters long swimming through the canal.
It slithered effortlessly between the gaps in the rocks, its flexible body squeezing through even the narrowest openings.
As he observed it, another strange expression appeared on his face.
He realized there was a man hiding inside a hole along the canal bank.
The man had already drawn his bow, aiming at the path the snake would pass through.
It seemed he had deliberately lured the snake here somehow.
This was clearly someone from the previous year’s batch.
He was probably rather weak, though, having only reached Level 15 by now. Even at this point, he seemed to rely entirely on his bow rather than his own strength.
If Enzo remembered correctly, this was also one of the people who had mocked him on his first day in the Sanctuary.
Naturally, Enzo wasn’t about to pass up an opportunity to gain more EXP.
Violet immediately leaped into the air.
From a great distance, she hurled her dagger.
Just how much Agility did she possess now?
Even Enzo couldn’t calculate it anymore.
The dagger shot forward like a bolt of lightning.
It was unbelievably fast.
BANG!
It pierced straight through the snake’s head before exploding into the rock beneath it.
DING!
(Your character has killed a Level 15 Monster. You and your character gained 5,000 EXP!)
(You obtained 50 SP!)
[Level: 11]
[EXP: 110,500/180,000]
[SP: 100]
The snake died instantly.
Violet’s attacks were simply too precise, striking directly at its most vital point.
Seeing this, the man immediately emerged from his hiding place and glared at Violet with an ugly expression.
"Do you have a problem with that?" Violet asked casually, her sharp gaze fixed on him.
There was no way Enzo wouldn’t use Violet to intimidate him.
When asked that question, the man’s already sour expression darkened even further.
"You’ve violated the Association’s rules. Awakeners are forbidden from stealing monsters that have already been lured by another Awakener. I worked hard to bait this snake here. If you don’t apologize and compensate me, I’ll report you," he said.
Different people reacted differently.
If it had been Bryan, he would have ignored the rules and attacked out of anger.
This man, however, could only hide behind regulations.
A faint smile curved Violet’s lips.
"Go ahead. But be prepared for me to beat you up afterward."
With that, she leaped forward and sprinted away at incredible speed.
Her speed left the man frozen in place.
He was instantly intimidated.
’How can this woman be so strong?’
Then his eyes suddenly lit up.
’Wait... Didn’t Augus seal a Three-Headed Python up ahead because he wanted to tame it? If this woman does something to it, I can record everything and show it to Augus...’
His eyes gleamed.
He had just thought of a perfect way to get revenge by borrowing someone else’s hands.
Without hesitation, he chased after Violet.
Before long, Violet came to a stop.
A valley lay before her, covered by a massive dome of light roughly the size of a football field.
Inside it was an enormous python.
Its body stretched well over thirty meters long.
More importantly...
It had three heads.
DING!
(Level 16 Monster!)
The notification surprised Enzo.
He had assumed it was at least Level 20.
Instead, it was only Level 16.
For a monster to grow this massive at such a level, this Three-Headed Python was undoubtedly an exceptionally powerful species.
However, it seemed unable to leave the dome of light.
It repeatedly slammed into the barrier, only to be violently thrown back every time.
’That must be a Seal Dome,’ Enzo thought.
It was a special sealing artifact designed specifically for monsters.
Monsters couldn’t pass through it from either side.
Of course, its effectiveness still depended on how much Mana had been poured into it.
The advantage of this artifact was that once the dome had been deployed, the artifact itself could be removed and taken away.
The barrier would continue to exist for several days until its stored energy was exhausted.
"Augus imprisoned this python," the man who had followed Violet finally said.
"His goal is to enslave it, so he hasn’t injured it at all. He’s preparing a Slave Seal. If I killed this Three-Headed Python at my current Level 15, I’d level up immediately."
Violet frowned for a brief moment before smiling.
"So... you want me to kill it and make Augus angry?"
If Enzo couldn’t understand something that obvious, he’d truly be an idiot.
Augus had confidently left behind the monster he intended to enslave.
He clearly believed no one would dare interfere with him, while those powerful enough not to fear him wouldn’t bother with a mere python.
The man remained silent, pretending he had merely been explaining the situation.
After all, he didn’t want Augus blaming him for encouraging someone else to kill his target.
"You’ve made yourself pretty obvious."
Violet shot him a mocking look before walking toward the dome.
The man couldn’t hide his surprise.
This was exactly what he wanted.
Even so, he hadn’t actually expected Violet to be bold enough to do it.
Apparently, she really wasn’t afraid.
Enzo himself had a simple philosophy.
Since they were already enemies, there was no reason to hold back from causing the other side as much trouble as possible.
