Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Blood Contains Trace Elements Not Belonging to Humans

’I celebrated too soon...’

Jian Yu was held down, her wrists once again bound by crossed silk ribbons.

"I keep forgetting. My darling isn’t an object. How could she possibly be traded?"

Round and round, and round again.

The gaps were stuffed with soft down, leaving no coarse friction as the ribbons tightened.

Xi Yu grabbed the end of the soft silk ribbon and casually tied a tight dead knot on the back of the chair.

"I wasn’t planning on running..." Jian Yu didn’t understand why she was being tied up just because she’d zoned out for a moment.

Xi Yu looked up, his prominent Adam’s apple bobbing sensually. "Mhm, my darling is such a good girl."

Slime oozed from his fingers as he spread it on her neck.

Jian Yu shook her drowsy head and turned to look at the other person.

"Xi Yu said you’re immune to his Soul Beast’s toxin, so we have no choice but to tie you up."

Ling Yanzhi sized her up openly. It was as if he’d been infected with a ’Xi Yu’ virus; his own Adam’s apple began to bob rhythmically as well.

The sound of his gulp was distinct. Veins stood out on his long, pale neck, and his gaze was feverish, as if he’d just discovered a fun new toy.

’I’m so sleepy.’ Jian Yu couldn’t stop her eyes from drooping. She blinked, forcing them wide.

Tears welled in her eyes, her beautiful gaze growing misty and damp.

Ling Yanzhi took the soft silk ribbon from Xi Yu and said, a little shyly, "I’m very sorry, I don’t want to do this either. But the person you like is coming, and we’re a little worried."

He smiled and crouched, taking her ankle in his hand. The soft silk ribbon wound bit by bit around the chair leg, securing her feet.

A long stretch of the ribbon brushed coolly against her calf before sliding sideways across her stomach.

Breathing grew heavy. It was impossible to tell whose it was, or who was getting excited.

’What?’ Jian Yu forced herself to focus.

’The outcome is what I wanted, but isn’t this going a little too far?’

’So I can’t even see Sheng Yue now?’

’So what if Sheng Yue is coming? It’s not like I can’t just go back to my room. Are they actually afraid I’ll try to peek or something?’

Jian Yu couldn’t comprehend the logic of these psychos.

She didn’t mind them fighting over her or using her as a bargaining chip for their own gain. She didn’t even care if they resorted to using force on her.

The only thing she couldn’t accept was losing consciousness. That feeling of being completely out of it made her panic.

Xi Yu raised his hand and covered her eyes.

He said, "Just sleep for a bit. It’ll be fine."

Jian Yu didn’t want to sleep. The previous two times she had been forced; she had no choice.

She’d been lucky, managing to fight her way back to consciousness both times. She really didn’t want to gamble on a third.

She had spent much of her life since birth asleep in a hospital bed. Once her condition stabilized, most of the part-time jobs she took were either at the hospital or online.

Professor Lin’s medicine was working so well. She was afraid that falling asleep now would mean wasting this past month of feeling good.

"Please, don’t." Jian Yu struggled weakly, but all she managed was the soft rustle of fabric.

Far from loosening her bonds, the struggle only made her more aware of how tightly she was restrained.

"Be a good girl, darling." Xi Yu leaned in close, gazing at the fragile, broken look on her face before stooping to kiss a tear from the corner of her eye.

’So pale. So soft to kiss.’

A subtle, orchid-like fragrance burst in his senses.

Ling Yanzhi suddenly looked up. "Where’s the bracelet Sheng Yue gave her?"

Xi Yu froze. ’The bracelet is from Sheng Yue?’

His expression darkened, his features turning grim.

"Give it to me!" Ling Yanzhi demanded, looking at an entry request for Villa No. 6 that had just appeared on his Star Brain.

That was a repair request automatically submitted after the villa was damaged.

"My people are here. Yours will probably be here soon, too. Her scent is... unusual. We need the bracelet to mask it."

Xi Yu retrieved the bracelet from his Space Button and reluctantly handed it to Ling Yanzhi.

Only after it was placed on Jian Yu’s wrist did the subtle fragrance filling the room finally stop spreading.

Xi Yu didn’t press the matter of Jian Yu’s uniqueness. He just asked, confused, "Why isn’t she unconscious yet?"

He had increased the dose a bit this time. By all rights, it should have knocked her out for at least half an hour.

’A little more, then.’

"Wait! You don’t have to knock me out. I won’t see him."

Jian Yu’s heart was pounding erratically.

She understood Xi Yu’s intentions and knew he wouldn’t truly harm her. Because of that, the idea of resisting naturally took root.

"I can go back to my room. I promise you, I definitely won’t peek."

Xi Yu hesitantly withdrew his fingers.

After a moment of internal conflict, Jian Yu said, "Actually, I don’t like Sheng Yue. I was lying."

Ling Yanzhi stood up. His expression was unreadable, his voice soft. "Your lips say you don’t like him, but your heart is madly in love."

He looked at Xi Yu. "She’s lying."

’Are you serious?’

’Is there something wrong with you?’

"You like him enough to lie to me?" Xi Yu’s gaze darkened, his breathing growing heavier.

He lowered his head and forced a kiss on her.

Ling Yanzhi impatiently pulled him away. "That’s enough."

"Ngh..." Jian Yu pressed her lips together. Her body was still bound to the chair, the down-lined satin ribbons digging into the fabric of her nightgown.

Tears welled in her eyes, her eyelashes trembling uneasily.

No sooner had they tied her up than they were untying her again.

Her limbs now free, Jian Yu looked up, utterly bewildered.

"What are you crying for? I saw you spacing out and just wanted to scare you." Ling Yanzhi picked her up with one arm, patting her back with the other. "Pathetic."

He gave Xi Yu a look. "I’m taking her to the guest room. You keep watch, don’t let anyone in."

It had been Xi Yu’s idea to tie her up, but someone else was reaping all the rewards. His eyes smoldered with anger.

He vented his anger on Sheng Yue, who had brought people in.

He looked up, his gaze sinister. "Did you bring that many people just to wreck the place?"

"To repair it." Sheng Yue tilted his head, and a dozen or so people carrying tools walked out from behind him.

They wore matching white uniforms. Below the multi-colored brooches indicating their various Levels was a particularly conspicuous student council emblem.

Every one of them stood ramrod straight, their presence formidable.

"Since when is this the student council’s business?"

Xi Yu waved his hand lazily and warned unhurriedly, "The first-floor guest room is off-limits."

The group nodded and cautiously headed towards the second floor.

Sheng Yue walked over to Xi Yu and, looking down at him, asked in a low voice, "Is she here with you?"

"I can deal with Ling Yanzhi, but you want to fight me for her too?" Xi Yu’s narrow eyes glinted coldly as he shot him a sideways glance.

Sheng Yue frowned tightly and sat down beside him.

"I just want to know where she is. Since she can free us from the afflictions of the Threshold Devouring Period, there’s no way I can just ignore her."

’He’d better mean that.’

Xi Yu immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn’t know much, but from those few words, he could piece a lot together.

Seeing that he didn’t react much, Sheng Yue thought that Ling Yanzhi had told him everything and that they had reached an agreement.

That meant Pei Yin’s little scheme was doomed to fail.

He smiled faintly. "I heard the recording. I was right there when you sent it to Pei Yin."

As soon as he played it, Pei Yin started cursing up a storm, saying Xi Yu still wasn’t cured and was forcing people to say things like that.

Xi Yu’s mind wasn’t on this.

He let his mind wander for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Did you draw her blood for research?"

’She has a problem with blood coagulation. That’s why she can’t be allowed to bleed.’

The doubt that lingered in Xi Yu’s mind was instantly resolved.

His expression was grave. "How many times did you draw it?"

"Once," Sheng Yue said. He strongly suspected that if he’d given any other answer, a fist would have connected with his face.

He changed the subject. "Jian Yu’s blood contains several trace elements that are not human."
