Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Something’s Wrong with Him
"Ahem, ahem." Jian Yu choked.
’It seems this Qingshui Wen is starting to get a little R-rated, all thanks to this little butterfly.’
Xi Yu patted Jian Yu on the back.
She turned her head. "Aren’t you going to say something?"
"What do you want him to say?" Ling Yanzhi set down his utensils and pushed the fish dish in front of her.
A smirk played on his lips, his tone casual. "You’d be happy if you got to live with Sheng Yue, wouldn’t you?"
Jian Yu was instantly speechless. "..."
She watched as the gloomy, spectral aura around Xi Yu intensified.
She silently lowered her head and ate.
"Good girl." Ling Yanzhi’s eyes curved into a gentle smile.
He draped his arm over the back of Jian Yu’s chair and raised an eyebrow. "Give us an answer."
"Mm," Xi Yu agreed with a slight nod. He had already tacitly consented to Ling Yanzhi’s proposal.
The three of them sleeping together. It was better than letting Sheng Yue take advantage of an opening.
His expression was calm and relatively restrained. If one ignored his tea-brown eyes, which were filled with keen interest, you couldn’t see any hint of madness.
Jian Yu felt his reaction was a bit lacking. ’Maybe his feelings are fading.’
’When playing hard to get, you’re supposed to reel them in again and again. Maybe I didn’t get the balance right.’
Jian Yu gave a small nod, deciding she had to refuse one more time. "I want to go back to my own dorm."
As expected, she was met with a dual rejection: "No."
Looking up at the sound, she saw the two men, each with an expression darker and gloomier than the other.
’How can their expressions change faster than I can flip a page?’ Jian Yu’s breath caught.
It was time to back down.
"What I mean is, I want to go back to my dorm to pack a few things. I’ll leave the rest of the arrangements to you."
The difference in their status was too vast. Jian Yu had no choice.
Since they were proactively offering her resources, connections, and all the special privileges a specially-admitted student could ever want, she would just accept.
As long as the money was good and her life was safe, everything else was negotiable.
If she ran into problems at school, the male leads could even help her solve them.
As for where those problems might come from... she decided not to think about that for now.
The atmosphere froze. After several seconds, Ling Yanzhi finally let out a cold snort. "What is there to pack? If you need anything, just have them send it over."
He wished every single thing she owned was stamped with his label.
Jian Yu frowned. "My books have notes in them."
’A lie.’
’She never took notes; she just processed everything in her head.’
She had too many questions she wanted to confirm, and she also wanted to sound out the heroine.
Ling Yanzhi pulled his arm back, propped it on his own leg, and leaned his body toward her.
"School started two weeks ago. The welcome banquets alone took up a week. You’ve only attended your major-specific classes for two days, right? What notes could you possibly have?"
"As far as I know, you sold your first-year high school textbooks less than half a month after you got them. You didn’t even read them twice, did you? Someone like you takes notes?"
His voice was lazy. His red pupils had faded back to their normal light black, losing their Attack Power and gaining a touch of languor.
Thinking about it made Jian Yu angry. Brand new books worth several hundred Star Coins, without a single creased page, had sold for less than the price of blank paper!
She puffed up her cheeks and met Ling Yanzhi’s probing, teasing gaze.
Her anger vanished.
Her eyes darted around until she found the one thing she could argue. "Three days. I attended my major-specific classes for three days."
She was met with another teasing chuckle.
Jian Yu’s gaze drifted downward. She saw how Ling Yanzhi’s shirt tightened around his toned waist as he propped himself up.
His arms were taut, the lines of his muscles distinct. Even his clothes couldn’t hide the sense of power emanating from him.
Her fingers itched. She hesitated, debating whether to poke him.
"Weis Lan’s books are quite expensive," Ling Yanzhi suddenly commented.
’Oho?’ Jian Yu’s eyes lit up as she pondered this internally.
Ling Yanzhi turned his head and looked at Xi Yu, displeased. "Before you came, she always slept with me and never once mentioned going back to her dorm. Why does she want to leave now that you’re here?"
In other words, it was definitely his fault.
Xi Yu seized on the opening. "The one she likes is Sheng Yue, so why was she living with you?"
His eyes were mocking. "Isn’t it because you imprisoned her? How is that any different from me?"
"Don’t mention Sheng Yue." The calm in Ling Yanzhi’s eyes shattered instantly.
It once again proved the old saying: ’He only gets triggered over his one true love.’
Xi Yu’s expression wasn’t any better.
"Let’s lock her up."
His eyes darkened, and his Adam’s apple bobbed unconsciously. "I’ll have her withdraw from school."
Jian Yu was shocked. "No, I promised the dean..."
"What’s the rush? He’s a psycho, but I’m not." Ling Yanzhi soothingly patted her head, indirectly vetoing Xi Yu’s suggestion and ignoring his cold expression.
He leaned down. "Kiss me, and I promise I won’t let you get kicked out."
Jian Yu grumbled internally, ’He’s a psycho, but you’re a complete madman.’
Her eyes fell on his pale face, and her heart skipped a beat. ’To be honest, I really do want to kiss him.’
"No."
Jian Yu averted her gaze, her face an impassive mask in clear rejection.
No matter how handsome a face was, if it was always cold and icy, it would eventually drive people away. Jian Yu wasn’t ignorant of this fact.
She was conflicted, but she just wanted to avoid it, stubbornly refusing to take the initiative.
Her chin was gently lifted, the pad of a man’s thumb stroking the corner of her mouth.
Jian Yu was forced to tilt her head up, her eyes slowly widening.
Her long, curled eyelashes were like two little fans, looking inexplicably fluffy.
"You don’t get a choice." Ling Yanzhi pressed a quick, soft, and lingering kiss on her lips, grinding against them in a way that permitted no refusal.
He raised an eyebrow smugly.
Then he discovered that Xi Yu was even more excited than he was.
"My baby is so cute." Xi Yu’s eyes were glued to Jian Yu’s swollen lips.
"..." Goosebumps erupted all over Jian Yu’s body. She felt both humiliated and uncontrollably happy.
Hearing the word "baby," Ling Yanzhi was also a little speechless.
But he still offered an explanation. "His family recently got into the entertainment industry as a side business. The hottest celebrities, and the most popular virtual game streamers lately, are all signed by the Xi Family."
"He researched some streamers back then and came back to complain to us that those people on the Star Network were nuts, calling everyone they saw ’baby.’"
Ling Yanzhi curled a finger and tapped his own head. "He’s got issues."
The boomerang came right back and hit Xi Yu.
But he was unfazed, staring intently at Jian Yu. His voice was husky as he proposed in a negotiating tone, "You get her Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I get Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday."
He even tried to ’bribe’ her. "That A-level Exotic Beast Egg you want? I’ll have it sent over to you."
"Not necessary." Ling Yanzhi’s eyelids fluttered, a brilliant smile on his face. "How about this: I get Monday, Wednesday, Friday; you get Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; and Sunday goes to Sheng Yue?"
It was like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on him. Xi Yu instantly calmed down.
"I was fortunate enough to acquire an S-Class Primordial Beast Egg."
To classify the Exotic Beast Levels, the Interstellar Alliance collectively refers to the purest-blooded Alien Beast races as Primordial Beasts, grading them as S, 2S, and 3S.
Primordial Beasts are the highest tier of Alien Beast. Not only can they intimidate a Soul Ghost Body, but they can also command all other Alien Beasts.
It is said that someone once witnessed a Primordial Beast’s Transformation with their own eyes. There are many videos on the Star Network as well, but unfortunately, they are all fake composites and have never been verified.
Primordial Beasts generally have higher intelligence than humans. Even the lowest, an S-Class Primordial Beast, has never been possessed by anyone to this day.
Even if it was just an egg.
"Someone like us doesn’t really need an egg," Xi Yu said, eyeing him.
"But if this egg hatches successfully, your family will have the chance to tame it and gain an S-Class Half-awakened."
Ling Yanzhi narrowed his eyes. "I can trade you three A-level Exotic Beast Eggs for it."
...
’Here we go again.’
Back and forth they went, their arrogance flaring.
’Only Jian Yu, with her three hundred million, would have the last laugh. Hahaha.’
