Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?
Chapter 15: You’ve Become a Dog

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: You’ve Become a Dog

Ling Yanzhi’s lips quirked into a nasty smile. "Have I been too good to you?"

Sheng Yue lowered his eyes, silent.

Pei Yin’s arrogant expression stiffened slightly.

His eyes were still manic, but upon closer inspection, they held a hint of probing.

"After all these years of our connection, you won’t even give me half a vial of blood?"

He detailed his research plans, painting a grand picture for everyone present.

"When the time comes, we can solve our Threshold Devouring Period problem, and she’ll be able to understand her own condition better. It kills two birds with one stone. What’s not to like?"

His expression hardened, and Pei Yin’s voice was as cold as ice shards. "Don’t push me."

Jian Yu’s skin crawled at the sound of his voice.

’Thinking about the plot points where Pei Yin used people for experiments at school, and the female lead stumbled upon the test subjects’ gruesome deaths...’

Jian Yu’s breath caught in her throat. She was so panicked that the color drained from her lips.

’I can die—this world is just a book, after all—but I can’t suffer a fate worse than death, and I definitely don’t want to die a pathetic death at someone else’s hands.’

Just then, Sheng Yue suddenly spoke up. "Did we forget the red dates?"

"Oh, I think you’re right." Ling Yanzhi abruptly uncrossed his legs and virtuously went to wash a few dates.

Pei Yin’s face darkened.

’Two morons!’

THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.

Jian Yu held her cup, letting Ling Yanzhi drop the red dates in.

Steam rose, moistening her long, thick lashes and softening the contours of her face until they blurred.

Her emotions gradually stabilized.

"This will have to do for now." Ling Yanzhi sank lazily back down beside her.

They were so close that with every slightly hurried breath, Jian Yu inhaled a noseful of his cool fragrance.

Her fingers curled. She couldn’t help but raise a hand to rub her forehead, feeling a strange, throbbing pain in her head.

’It felt like a director was forcing her to pull an all-nighter for extra scenes without any extra pay.’

"So dramatic." Pei Yin watched the scene with cold eyes. ’Putting goji berries and red dates in water, of all things.’

He didn’t restrain his strength and accidentally crushed a corner of the table.

Realizing what he’d done, he opened his hand and, right in front of Jian Yu, gave a sinister quirk of his lips.

Splinters from the sandalwood table trickled from his hand.

Jian Yu froze, then turned her head. "Xiao A, clean up the trash."

After a brief whir, the robot activated. With its aloof appearance, it coolly swept away the wood splinters on the floor.

Watching Jian Yu’s obedient, head-bowed posture as she sipped her water, the smile on Pei Yin’s lips froze. He wanted to curse.

’Three morons!’

He tapped his Space Button and took out a syringe. "If you won’t let me draw it, I’ll take it by force. Stop being so wishy-washy! It’s just 2ml. You lose more blood on your period!"

Sheng Yue leaned to his right, his heart sinking violently.

’A madman.’ Ling Yanzhi’s eyes filled with disgust. "We had an agreement this morning. What’s wrong with you now?"

"This morning, she also agreed to cooperate with our investigation." The chill in Pei Yin’s eyes was no less than Ling Yanzhi’s.

He shot to his feet, a sarcastic smile on his face. "Don’t tell me you plan to worship her like this for the rest of your life."

’It’s just for a bit of research, not like he’s trying to kill her. Surely half a vial of blood isn’t more important than solving their Threshold Devouring Period?’

Pei Yin didn’t understand, nor could he accept that his future during the Threshold Devouring Period would be dictated by Jian Yu.

After suffering for so long, he’d suddenly had a taste of relief today. How could he possibly hold back now?

The atmosphere was oppressive. The spiritual power overflowing from the two men scraped wantonly against the walls, leaving deep gouges in its wake.

Jian Yu’s body tensed, and she breathed cautiously.

She lowered her gaze to the goji berry water in her cup, not daring to take another sip, afraid the sound of her swallowing might startle the two titans.

Ling Yanzhi’s spiritual power was clearly stronger. It not only shielded her but also easily suppressed Pei Yin.

The perfectly fine living room was now a complete mess.

She and Sheng Yue had become spectators to the drama—one trembling inwardly, the other wearing a mask of indifference.

RRRIP.

Pei Yin’s clothes tore open, revealing layered metal accessories on his lower half, and an aura of rugged, dark-style fashion washed over them.

The young man’s sharp-edged intensity was on full display.

Jian Yu’s gaze shifted back to Ling Yanzhi.

For an instant, his figure overlapped with that of the Red Snake.

The looming snake’s head looked as if it were about to "grow" out of Ling Yanzhi’s body, its form constantly shifting between red and black.

The cold light from its scales washed over his profile. When its maw gaped open, the crimson Snake Tongue faintly grazed his jaw.

With every breath, Jian Yu felt as if she could smell the cold reek of snake saliva.

’She wanted to let out a groundhog scream, but it was caught in her throat.’

Jian Yu’s face was a taut, cold mask as a sharp pain shot through her heart.

She instinctively clutched her chest.

Ling Yanzhi frowned, no longer wanting to be entangled in this.

"Stop, stop, stop." Pei Yin tactfully withdrew his spiritual power.

The Black Eagle that had been on the verge of emerging from his back dissipated like black mist, receding back into his body bit by bit.

The serpentine shadow on Ling Yanzhi also vanished in an instant.

A blush of moisture welled up in Jian Yu’s eyes.

She glanced to the side, her gaze meeting Ling Yanzhi’s crimson eyes, which were overflowing with violent energy.

The vertical slit of a snake’s pupil still lingered in his.

Jian Yu felt as if a basin of cold water had been dumped over her head, chilling her until she trembled.

A blanket was draped over her. She was wrapped up completely and locked in Ling Yanzhi’s arms.

She looked up, dazed.

The word "cute" suddenly pulsed at the tip of Ling Yanzhi’s heart.

He looked down, and seeing Jian Yu’s body sliding down, he gently clasped her waist and pulled her a little higher onto his lap.

"Did you want to see him beat me to death?" Pei Yin wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, immediately turning on Sheng Yue.

’Even though I knew I couldn’t win, I still wanted to take a gamble that Sheng Yue would join in.’

He gritted his back teeth, forcibly suppressing the displeasure in his heart.

Looking at Sheng Yue, who was as calm as still water, Pei Yin couldn’t stop himself from being sarcastic. "You’ve really got some patience."

’He’d also gotten a taste of relief from the Threshold Devouring Period’s onset, yet he could act so indifferent.’

"She didn’t say she wouldn’t give it to you," Sheng Yue said, his voice cool.

His gaze swept lightly over Ling Yanzhi before landing on Jian Yu, who was a fluffy bundle.

Pei Yin’s violent anger suddenly stalled. "?"

Jian Yu pulled down the blanket and shot a quick glance at Sheng Yue.

She let out a light cough. "You can have it. I also want to figure out what’s going on."

Ling Yanzhi’s expression shifted, but he finally nodded with a sour look on his face. "Keep it confidential."

"Obviously." Pei Yin rolled his eyes at him, momentarily speechless.

He took out the syringe again.

"I’ll do it." Sheng Yue took it, not trusting him.

In the end, the syringe ended up in Jian Yu’s hands.

"Can you even do it?" Pei Yin frowned, the three men’s expressions matching for once.

"I have a nurse’s license. I’m very professional." The moment Jian Yu finished speaking, the needle was in her arm.

Her veins were prominent, and the blood draw went smoothly.

Ling Yanzhi averted his eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable. "You were only in the hospital for four months. How professional can you be?"

"That’s enough." Jian Yu handed it to Pei Yin.

Having gotten what he wanted, Pei Yin wasn’t particularly happy.

He looked at Jian Yu’s pale face and the still-bleeding needle mark, then inconspicuously moved his hands behind his back.

"Hey, what are you licking?" Jian Yu pushed at Ling Yanzhi’s head in embarrassment.

"Don’t move." Ling Yanzhi grabbed her wrist, his words and actions etched with an innate domineeringness.

Sheng Yue lowered his eyes. "His saliva has a healing effect."

’Xi Yu... Xi Yu’s can too.’

’He and Pei Yin, and the others, can’t do it.’

’It’s a secret of the Xi and Ling Families, one that’s never been made public.’

Pei Yin couldn’t stand the sight of Sheng Yue acting like this. "You don’t actually like her, so stop pretending to be so smitten. You’re just pathetic. Whatever Ling Yanzhi likes, you have to like it too."

Catching sight of Ling Yanzhi shamelessly licking Jian Yu’s arm, he grew angrier the more he thought about it. "Still licking... You’ve become a dog. What the hell do you even like about her?"
