Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Shooting Immediately

At Ronan Lewis’s words, the nearby crew members were left speechless.

’Just because of Hailey Paige, we’ve been held up this long. Is she the only one who’s tired? What about the rest of us? She can just decide not to film whenever she wants, and all our hard work and dedication go down the drain?!’

’So what if she bought her way into the cast?’

Director Wallace glanced at Hailey Paige’s current state and took a deep breath. Insisting any further would be pointless.

She’d never be able to give him the performance he wanted.

"Everyone, take a break. Get ready for the next scene."

The moment Hailey Paige heard she was dismissed, she shot to her feet and walked off without a word of thanks to the crew.

The crew had no choice but to start preparing all over again.

When Director Wallace turned around and saw Melody Monroe standing behind him, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. The others nearby noticed her too, their faces filled with astonishment.

After Melody Monroe’s injury, the director had replaced her as the second female lead, choosing Hailey Paige, who had paid for the part. Hailey Paige had been competing with Melody for the role from the beginning—a rivalry more dramatic than the actual script.

’Why would Melody Monroe show up on set now?’

"Hello, Director Wallace." Melody Monroe stepped forward to greet him.

"Come with me." Director Wallace headed toward a makeshift rest area nearby.

’He hadn’t thought Melody would actually come.’

’After all, the role she was here to play now barely even qualified as the fourth female lead.’

’His first impression of Melody Monroe was that she was a proud person; a minor role like this was something he thought she’d look down on.’

Although the character didn’t have much screen time, she was the male lead’s first love and had scenes with both the male and female leads. The character was also a recurring presence throughout the series, so in terms of overall exposure, the role still carried some weight.

Director Wallace had always been pleased with Melody Monroe, initially because of her appearance. But now, seeing her again after the recasting, his opinion of her had improved.

After all, her injury hadn’t been her fault; it was a mistake on the production’s part.

Melody Monroe hadn’t blamed anyone, nor had she complained about being replaced. So when Rose Shaw approached him saying Melody wanted this new role, he had agreed immediately.

He just hadn’t expected her to actually show up.

This was one of the roles he’d struggled with the most.

As the woman the male lead yearned for, his first love, the actress playing her had to be beautiful. In that respect, Melody Monroe was absolutely flawless. He had to admit, in all his years in the industry, he could count on one hand the number of artists he’d met with as much versatility as her.

"Thank you, Director Wallace, for giving me this opportunity," Melody Monroe said, breaking the silence.

"Have you gone over your scenes?"

"Yes, I’ve read them."

"Zane Langdon isn’t on set yet, so we’ll have to wait for him to arrive to shoot your scenes together. We’ll film your other parts first. Is that alright with you?"

"That’s fine."

"Your part isn’t very large, so I’ll do my best to schedule your scenes close together. That way, we won’t take up too much of your time."

"Thank you, Director."

An idea suddenly struck Director Wallace. He immediately stood up. "Can you shoot right now?"

Melody Monroe paused, taken aback. "Which scene are you referring to, Director?"

"The one where Willow Lynch returns from abroad and visits the school."

"The one where she meets Julian Hale for the first time?"

"Yes, that’s the one! But we’ll shoot the first half of it now. When Zane Langdon gets here, we’ll shoot the rest of your parts separately! Come with me."

Melody Monroe followed Director Wallace. She understood what he meant now. She had just seen the set, and it was dressed as a school campus.
