Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: She Wants to Check the Surveillance Footage

"I believe I can definitely do it, too."

Stella Winters nodded vigorously. "Mhm!"

’It didn’t matter if her best friend could actually do it. The important thing was to agree and offer encouragement.’

The teacher arrived, and the students who had gone to the restroom trickled back in. Everyone settled down and focused on the lecture.

Within two class periods, the entire high school knew about the bet Chloe York had made with her homeroom teacher.

"Weren’t they supposed to be investigating the three-timing scandal? How did it turn into a bet about the second mock exam?"

"I’d heard stories about how bold Senior Chloe York is, but I never thought she’d actually dare to make a bet with a teacher. That’s seriously impressive."

"She’s always been over the top. Back then, her family and Campus Prince Prescott’s family only arranged their marriage. They hadn’t even held an engagement party, but Chloe York was already calling herself his fiancée and clinging to him!"

"Oh my god, isn’t that basically dating in school? And now she’s supposedly three-timing. If Campus Prince Prescott’s family finds out, won’t that affect the engagement?"

"The engagement already changed. Brooke York is the real heiress of the York Family!"

"Well, that’s a relief. In that case, Campus Prince Prescott isn’t so pathetic. Otherwise, can you imagine how miserable he’d be if his fiancée was juggling so many guys and he couldn’t even break the family-arranged engagement?"

In the hallways, the restrooms, the athletic field, the tree-lined paths... wherever there were students, you could hear them discussing Chloe York.

Students in Class 3-6 were also gathered in small groups, discussing the matter.

"Chloe York can’t possibly think that just by acting like a good student and studying hard for a few days, her scores will magically skyrocket, right? Fifty points? She’ll be lucky to improve by ten."

"Seriously. I don’t even know how she got into high school in the first place."

"I heard the York Family donated a building to get her in."

A student who overheard this couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up. ’Money really can do anything!’

"Brooke, this has nothing to do with us anymore, right?" Clara Bell was actually feeling a lingering fear. Others didn’t know, but she knew the photos had been posted to frame Chloe York. She was afraid that if she was found out, it would affect her academic career.

Brooke York looked at Clara Bell’s timid expression with disdain. ’If I had a better pawn, I wouldn’t be using her.’ "What does it have to do with us? We didn’t make the bet with her, and we didn’t force her to make it."

"Right. It has nothing to do with us."

When the morning classes ended, Chloe York stepped into the cafeteria. A number of students noticed her immediately.

Ignoring everyone’s stares, Chloe York walked over to the spot where the secret photo of her eating had been taken. She looked up and, just as she expected, saw a security camera.

"Chloe, we haven’t gotten our food yet!" Seeing Chloe walk straight into the seating area, Stella Winters thought she must have studied her brain into a knot. She grabbed her and pulled her toward the food line.

After they got their food and sat down, Stella Winters stared in shock at Chloe’s tray, which was piled high like a small mountain. Chloe’s appetite had been even bigger than hers lately. ’So why am I the one gaining weight while she isn’t?!’

"Stella, are there security cameras in our classroom?" Chloe suddenly asked.

"Yeah, there are!"

Hearing there were cameras, Chloe’s eyes lit up. "Then where can we view the footage?"

"There’s a security room. You can view all the camera feeds there."

Then Stella Winters suddenly realized it too. "That’s right, Chloe! We can check the security footage! If we check the footage, we can prove that there were three of us eating together that day."

"Exactly. And we can also check the classroom footage to prove that Henry Ford just gave me a schedule. And of course, we’ll be able to see who secretly took the photos."

"But they won’t necessarily let students review the footage. You need approval, and the person who has to approve it is the principal."

’The principal? This isn’t exactly a small incident. He must have caught wind of it by now, but he hasn’t responded at all. So, does that mean he’s planning to stay neutral and not get involved?’

After lunch, the two of them went to the principal’s office.

"Principal, I’d like to view the security footage in the monitoring room," Chloe said, getting straight to the point.

"Young lady, the monitoring room isn’t a place you can just access on demand. If every student made a request like yours, there would be no privacy left for anyone."

The principal, sitting in his office chair, kept his eyes on his computer, not even sparing Chloe a glance.

"Principal, a student deliberately posted photos that are affecting my life and mental well-being. Shouldn’t that be investigated?"

The principal finally tore his gaze away from the computer screen and looked at Chloe. He said in a serious, drawn-out tone, "Young lady, I’m already aware of the bet you made with your homeroom teacher. The most important thing for you right now is to pour all your energy into your studies. If you can win that bet, then these defamatory photos won’t seem so important anymore."

"So you’re saying I should just let people slander me for supposedly three-timing?"

’This fictional world was once again shattering Chloe’s expectations. In her original world, if something like this happened, the school would have called the parents, provided counseling for the student, and in serious cases, even expelled them and barred them from taking the college entrance exams. They wouldn’t just brush it off like this.’

"I’m not saying you should just let it happen. You know you didn’t do anything wrong, so does it really matter what other people say? You need to keep a positive mindset."

The principal, however, wasn’t completely clueless. He had already checked the security footage. The person who had photographed Chloe was none other than Brooke York. Even on the classroom camera, zooming in revealed that Brooke was the one who had secretly taken the picture.

But now, Chloe York was just the fake heiress, while Brooke York was the York Family’s true heiress. He saw no need to offend Brooke for Chloe’s sake, nor did he want to get dragged into their drama. The best solution was to play the peacemaker and smooth things over.

Chloe didn’t say another word and turned to leave.

Stella Winters hurried after her. "Chloe, what do we do now?"

"The principal has definitely seen the footage. He knows who did it, and he’s choosing to protect them," Chloe said, voicing her suspicion.

"What?" Stella was shocked. "So that means the principal is siding with the person who took the photos? How are you going to prove your innocence then?"

"We’ll have to think of something else."

Unbeknownst to her, right after she left, Ethan Prescott went to the principal’s office.

"Principal, the cafeteria and the Class 3-6 classroom both have security cameras, correct?" Ethan Prescott had thought of this as well.

In stark contrast to his cold indifference toward Chloe, the principal was much more enthusiastic with Ethan Prescott. "Yes, that’s correct."

"Pull the footage from the last few days for both of those locations and send it to me. And don’t give the footage to anyone else who asks."

’I suspect Brooke York might have done this. If it really was her, and she gets scared, she might have Miles York come to the principal and tamper with the footage after it’s been extracted.’

’That would make things much more complicated.’

’Ethan Prescott’s words made the principal mistakenly believe he was acting on behalf of Brooke York. After all, Brooke was the true York Family heiress, and he’d heard rumors that Ethan was quite fond of her. She must have sent him. Good thing I didn’t agree to let Chloe York see the footage in the monitoring room just now.’
