Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: A Daring Rescue

Godly Rich System: [Yes, save him! It’s three thousand!]

"This isn’t about the three thousand. He’s being hunted down. I could easily get dragged into his mess."

Chloe York was finally starting to understand. The Godly Rich System based its rewards on the mission’s danger level. A task like this was worth three thousand, while just taking Evan Shaw to the nurse’s office had only been three hundred. Helping Miss Prescott, an elderly woman, had netted her one thousand.

Godly Rich System: [Don’t worry, Host. With me here, you won’t be in any danger. Trust me.]

As Evan Shaw ran, he suddenly felt something was off. Every time he’d slowed down before, he could feel Chloe York catching up in no time. But this time, he realized she didn’t seem to be behind him anymore.

He glanced back. Sure enough, she wasn’t there. Instead, he saw her turning into a small alley, where it looked like a man was losing his strength and slowly slumping to the ground.

Evan wanted to call out to her, but he instinctively felt that shouting wasn’t a good idea right now. He had no choice but to jog after her.

Chloe had actually wanted to call out to Evan, but the system told her she couldn’t involve him.

"Are you okay?"

A crisp, clear female voice suddenly rang out. It jolted Adrian Kane, who had been on the verge of passing out. Using his last ounce of strength, his eyes flew open and his hand shot out. His arm, like an iron vise, clamped across the girl’s neck as he yanked her forcefully toward him.

The moment Chloe’s eyes met his—cold as ice and brimming with killing intent—she froze in terror. Before she had any chance to retreat, the man’s arm tightened around her neck, pulling her forcibly into his arms.

’Godly Rich System, you said I’d be fine! You’ve gotten me killed! If I die, you’ll never find another host as diligent as me! Any new host would never bind with you; they’d all choose the other two systems!’

Scholar System: [How dare you, Godly Rich System! If you get my host killed, I’ll kill you!]

Physical System: [I go to all this trouble issuing missions to get her a healthy body, and what do you do? You go and get her killed! I’ll beat you to a pulp!]

Godly Rich System: [It’s not my fault! That’s just how the mission is.]

"What are you doing? Let go of my classmate!"

Evan’s words made Adrian’s grip loosen slightly. Only then did he realize he was holding a girl, one who was wearing a school uniform. Her face was flushed red from his hold on her neck.

Adrian released her, and Chloe immediately broke into a fit of violent coughing.

Seeing his chance, Evan quickly pulled Chloe over to his side. At that moment, Adrian could no longer hold himself up and passed out. As he lost consciousness, two voices seemed to drift toward him from a great distance.

A male voice: "Looks like he fainted!"

A female voice: "There’s blood. He must be hurt somewhere. We should help him!"

A male voice: "He was so defensive, he nearly strangled you. He’s probably not a good person. Shouldn’t we just call the police?"

Hearing the word "police," Adrian panicked internally. He couldn’t let that happen. If he was taken in, everyone would find out he was injured. Those people at the company would seize the opportunity...

Just then, the girl’s clear voice spoke up. "Look, he’s dressed pretty well. He’s probably not a bad person. Let’s call the hospital and have them send someone to get him."

"Okay, that works."

After the call, she remembered the system saying this man was being hunted. The alley was a bit of a walk from the main road. If his pursuers showed up, she couldn’t let Evan get hurt because of her. "Let’s move him out to the main road! That way, when the ambulance arrives, they can get him right on board."

"Okay."

Together, they half-carried Adrian toward the roadside. The jostling was enough to bring him back to a state of semi-consciousness. He had heard their conversation, so he didn’t struggle.

Once they reached the road and set him down, Chloe finally got a good look at the unconscious man. Despite his suit, he had a youthful air about him and didn’t seem much older than they were.

He had a handsome face. With his eyes closed, his eyelashes were as thick and curled as tiny fans. Even in his disheveled state, he couldn’t conceal his air of cold, noble dignity.

"Wipe it off."

Looking at the tissue offered to her, Chloe realized that her hands and clothes were stained with blood.

"Thanks." She began to wipe the bloodstains off herself.

The driver, who was sitting in the car, saw the scene and was about to get out. Evan shot him a look, and the driver immediately sat back down.

While Chloe wasn’t looking, Evan took out his phone and sent a text to his driver: "Follow the ambulance to the hospital. Find out who that man is."

The driver in the car received Evan’s text and sighed. ’Great,’ he thought. ’Looks like I’m working overtime tonight.’

When she saw the headlights of a vehicle approaching in the distance, Chloe instinctively grabbed Evan’s hand and pulled him into the bushes to hide. In the dark, Evan couldn’t see her hand holding his, but the soft, warm feeling in his palm was unmistakable.

She watched as a few people in white coats got out and immediately spotted the man on the ground. They probably assumed he had called for himself, and with no one else around, they worked together to lift him onto the gurney and into the ambulance. Only after the vehicle drove off into the distance did Chloe finally let out a sigh of relief.

Godly Rich System: [Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission. Reward: 3,000 yuan.]

With three thousand yuan secured, Chloe’s mood brightened considerably. "Shall we continue our race?"

"Sure!"

The two resumed their run home. Ten minutes later, a system’s voice sounded.

Physical System: [Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission. You have been rewarded with the Sprinting Skill.]

With her missions finally complete, Chloe breathed another sigh of relief. She was too tired to run anymore and slowed to a walk. Evan seemed to sense this and slowed down with her. In the end, they both walked the rest of the way home. There was no winner or loser.

They used the facial recognition scanner to enter Avallon. Since they lived in completely different sections, it was time to part ways.

"Anyway, thanks for running with me today." Thanks to Evan joining her, completing her two missions hadn’t felt so lonely.

"You don’t have to thank me. You’re the one who saved me first, remember?" Originally, Evan had thought Chloe was just trying to use him to make Ethan Prescott angry. Since he’d been at odds with Ethan for three years, he’d decided to just play along if she was going to approach him.

But after tonight, he realized Chloe was genuinely kind; she wasn’t using him in the slightest.

Chloe knew Evan was talking about what happened on the field, and she felt a little embarrassed. ’If it weren’t for the system,’ she thought, ’I probably wouldn’t have actually helped him.’

"Well, see you tomorrow!"

"See you tomorrow!"

Back home, the house was completely silent. It seemed everyone had already gone to bed, as if no one cared in the slightest whether she returned. Unsurprised, Chloe went straight to her room.

After a quick shower, she lay in bed and started thinking about how to thank Evan. She could use part of the three thousand yuan to buy him a gift.

「The Shaw Family Villa」

Evan stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows as he answered a call from his driver.

"Young Master, the man you and Miss York saved... it’s Adrian Kane, the new CEO of the Kane Group." The driver’s voice came through the phone.

Evan blurted out, "Adrian Kane?"
