Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Binding with 3 Systems upon Transmigration

"Congratulations to Ms. Chloe York. She outworked her colleagues, outworked her bosses, and outworked her peers, and in the end, she successfully outworked herself to death."

Despite being at a funeral hall, thunderous applause suddenly rang out. Chloe York, in her spiritual form, floated in the air, watching her own funeral.

But in the blink of an eye, the scene before her changed to a classroom, and a sarcastic voice rang out, "Congratulations to our student, Chloe York, for scoring a grand total of 6 points on this mock exam, breaking her previous record of 0."

"Haha, one point per subject. I guess that makes Chloe York the master of controlling her scores!"

"That’s an improvement! She used to get zero on everything!"

Her gaze swept around the room, and she saw that everyone was looking at her with mocking expressions.

’One point? How could I possibly have scored only one point? What kind of joke is this?!’

’Ever since I was little, I’ve gotten a perfect score on every single test. I was always first in my class, first in my grade—even the top scorer in the city and the province on the college entrance exams.’

Just then, a wave of memories that didn’t belong to her washed over her.

She had transmigrated into a book as Chloe York, the brainless, malicious villainess who constantly opposed the real heiress.

The original owner of the body was the young miss of the York Family—arrogant and stupid. After she was exposed as a fake heiress in her senior year of high school, the York parents provided for her room and board and paid her tuition, but otherwise ignored her completely.

The real heiress, Brooke York, who had returned, provoked the original owner at every turn. On top of that, her fiancé fell in love with Brooke, so she repeatedly tried to frame Brooke, only for it to backfire every time.

In the end, the original owner fell into depravity, getting into a relationship with someone outside of school, becoming pregnant out of wedlock, and dropping out. When the York parents saw she had no more use, they kicked her out of the house, and she starved to death on the streets.

After absorbing the memories, Chloe York shook her head. ’If she’d just put in the effort, how could her life have ended up like this?’

[DING~ Host, I am the Scholar System! Just bind with me and complete practice problem missions, and you’ll be rewarded with Wisdom Value. The more problems you solve, the more Wisdom Value you’ll get. Your Memory will also get better and better, you’ll have a photographic memory, and you’ll have the most powerful brain.]

Before she could even feel happy about it, another system’s voice rang out: [DING~ Hello, Host. I am the Godly Rich System. Bind with me, and you’ll receive monetary rewards for doing good deeds. The amount is based on the scale of the good deed—the greater the deed, the bigger the reward!]

’Godly rich!’ Chloe York’s eyes lit up. "Yes, yes, yes, I’ll bind."

[DING~ Host, I am the Physical System. I’m your best choice. Good health is the number one priority, isn’t it? Choose me, complete your exercise quotas, and I’ll make you beautiful and invincible. You’ll be a real-life muscle Barbie.]

She knew that transmigrating into a book often meant binding a system, but she never expected to get three of them.

Seeing Chloe York remain silent, the three systems, afraid she would refuse, started to argue amongst themselves.

Godly Rich System: [Host, choose me! With money, you have everything!]

Scholar System: [Host, don’t pick that tacky one. Money is just a worldly possession. Choose me! There are houses of gold to be found in books! I can also help you thoroughly humiliate the heroine!]

Physical System: [Host, have you forgotten? You died precisely because you overworked your body to exhaustion. Choose me, and sudden death will be impossible.]

The three systems’ electronic voices argued back and forth in Chloe York’s mind.

"Alright, quiet." The bickering was giving her a headache. At Chloe York’s command, her mind instantly fell silent.

The Physical System added weakly, [Exactly! What’s all the arguing about? If the Host decides not to bind with any of us, we’re all screwed.]

"Can’t I choose all of you?" Only children make choices; she wanted them all. ’With three systems, I, a master overachiever, refuse to believe I could die from overwork again. I’m sure I can change the book’s original ending too.’

Scholar System: [Binding with Scholar System successful. Name: Chloe York, Wisdom: 10, Memory: 10.]

Godly Rich System: [Binding with Godly Rich System successful! Balance: 0.]

Physical System: [Binding with Physical System successful!]

The three systems’ voices announced one after another, as if afraid that Chloe York would go back on her word if they were a second too slow.

"Chloe York, are you too embarrassed to come get your test paper?" Ms. Leighton’s voice rang out from the teacher’s desk.

Everyone knew how stupid Chloe York was. Her parents had to donate an entire building just to get her into this high school; otherwise, she would have never even made it through the school gates.

Before, Ms. Leighton would never have spoken to her like this, simply because she was the young miss of the York Family. But now, Chloe York was just an imposter, a good-for-nothing who was dragging down the class average.

She stood up and, amidst all the disdainful and mocking stares, walked to the teacher’s desk to get her test paper. She then returned to her seat in the back corner.

"Our student, Brooke York, did very well this time, with a total score of 550." In stark contrast to her earlier disgust, Ms. Leighton’s face was now filled with happiness and pride.

The other students were also lavish with their praise for Brooke York.

"As expected of the real young miss of the York Family. She clearly inherited the York Family’s superior genes. It’s no surprise she isn’t a troublemaker as dumb as a pig like Chloe York."

"And Chloe York had the nerve to say Brooke came from the countryside and that her grades were worse than hers. She stole someone’s identity as the real heiress and then slandered her. How shameless."

Brooke York walked up to the teacher’s desk with a gentle smile on her face. "Thank you, Ms. Leighton."

After getting her test paper, Brooke York glanced smugly at Chloe York as she walked back to her seat.

Staring at the test paper in her hand, which was covered in big, bright red X’s, Chloe York felt her heart sink lower and lower. She didn’t even spare Brooke York a single glance.

’These scores... even if I took the test with my eyes closed, I wouldn’t have done this badly!’

The bell rang, the teacher left, and the classroom instantly became lively.

Scholar System: [Host, read a book for three minutes and you will be rewarded with 5 Memory Value and 5 Wisdom Value. You will also receive a ten-minute ’Photographic Memory’ trial card to motivate you to complete your missions seriously.]

Hearing this, Chloe York didn’t hesitate. She immediately took out a book and started reading. All those big, red X’s—this was something she could not accept.

But clearly, someone wasn’t going to let her complete her mission that easily.

"You’ve got to be kidding me, Chloe York. You’re actually reading? Can you even understand it?"

"Yeah! No matter how much you read, you’ll never be as good as Miss Brooke."

The words were dripping with sarcasm, but Chloe York ignored them. Her mission could not be interrupted.

Seeing that Chloe York was ignoring her, Clara Bell got annoyed. She slammed her hand on the desk. "Hey, Chloe York! Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten the bet you made!"

A gentle voice interjected, "Alright, you two, don’t talk to Chloe like that. Maybe she’s just trying to work harder because her scores weren’t good!"

Brooke York walked over. Seeing Chloe being picked on by Clara Bell, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

’I should have been the rightful young miss of the York Family, enjoying all its glory and wealth. But for the past ten-plus years, someone else has usurped my place, wantonly squandering the life of luxury that should have been mine.’

’And me? I could only live a humble and difficult life in a remote mountain village.’

’Now that I’m back, I certainly won’t let the person who stole my life have an easy time.’

"Brooke, don’t stick up for Chloe York. If you ask me, she’s just someone who won’t take responsibility for her actions. She lost the bet and is pretending it never happened, just putting on a show of reading to try and get away with it."

Scholar System: [Three-minute reading mission complete. Reward: 5 Memory Value and 5 Wisdom Value, plus a ten-minute ’Photographic Memory’ trial card.]
