Chapter 26: The Blood Prison

Chapter 26: The Blood Prison

Darkness clung stubbornly to Anya’s mind long after the gas had stolen her consciousness. Memories surfaced in scattered fragments, each one sharper than the last. She remembered Dmitri’s arms wrapped around her as the laboratory collapsed, the thunder of distant explosions, and the suffocating sting of the strange vapor filling the air. Then there had been nothing.

A dull ache spread through her body as awareness slowly returned. Every muscle felt heavy, as though invisible hands were pulling her deeper into the chair beneath her. She forced her eyes open against the blinding white light overhead, blinking several times before her vision finally steadied.

The room surrounding her looked less like a prison and more like an advanced medical facility. Polished white walls reflected the sterile glow of countless ceiling panels, leaving no shadows where secrets could hide. Stainless steel equipment stood in perfect rows, each instrument carefully arranged with unsettling precision.

The scent of antiseptic filled the air, masking something far more disturbing beneath it. There was blood here. Not enough to stain the room, but enough for her heightened senses to recognize the faint metallic trace lingering in every breath she took.

She instinctively tested the restraints around her wrists.

Cold reinforced alloy answered with a sharp metallic rattle.

The cuffs were unlike anything she had encountered before. They allowed only enough movement to keep circulation flowing while preventing any meaningful attempt at escape. Whoever designed them had anticipated extraordinary strength.

A familiar voice broke the silence.

"You’re finally awake."

Anya turned toward the sound.

Elena sat several feet away in an identical restraint chair. Fatigue showed clearly beneath her violet eyes, while loose strands of dark hair framed a face that had endured far too much in too little time. Despite her exhaustion, determination still burned behind her gaze.

Relief softened Anya’s expression.

"They brought you here too."

Elena managed a weak smile.

"I was beginning to think I’d have to escape alone."

Anya glanced around the laboratory once more before lowering her voice.

"Have you seen Dmitri?"

Elena slowly shook her head.

"No."

The single word settled heavily between them.

Before either woman could speak again, the laboratory doors slid open with a quiet mechanical hiss. Every scientist inside immediately stopped working, straightening their posture as though royalty had entered the room.

A woman dressed in a pristine white laboratory coat walked inside without haste. Her movements were calm and deliberate, each step carrying absolute confidence. Cold blue eyes studied the room before settling on Anya with unmistakable satisfaction.

Dr. Valeria Voss smiled.

It was not the smile of someone greeting guests.

It was the smile of a scientist who had finally acquired the last missing piece of a lifelong experiment.

"Welcome," she said evenly. "I hope your rest was sufficient."

Anya met her gaze without blinking.

"I’ve had better mornings."

Valeria’s smile widened ever so slightly.

"I appreciate resilience."

She approached until only a few feet separated them, placing a slim electronic tablet onto a nearby workstation. Streams of biological data illuminated the screen, displaying readings that changed almost faster than the eye could follow.

"You’ve become quite extraordinary."

"I didn’t ask for it."

"No one ever does."

Valeria folded her hands behind her back.

"The greatest discoveries in history rarely begin with permission."

Anya remained silent.

Silence often revealed more than anger.

Valeria appeared to understand that.

"You believe the Syndicate created Krov."

She touched the screen, replacing the biological charts with faded black and white photographs. Old laboratories appeared beside military compounds, while groups of researchers stood around unfamiliar machines that looked decades ahead of their time.

"We merely perfected someone else’s work."

Elena leaned forward as much as the restraints allowed.

"What are we looking at?"

"The beginning."

The photographs continued changing one after another.

Some showed children receiving medical examinations. Others captured scientists standing beside handwritten research boards covered in symbols and formulas. Many faces had been scratched away, while names had been covered with thick black ink.

"They were the first Blood Carriers."

The laboratory fell completely silent.

Anya studied every image carefully.

Most of the children looked no older than ten or twelve. Some smiled nervously toward the camera, unaware of the future waiting for them. Others stared directly into the lens with expressions that carried far more fear than innocence ever should.

"What happened to them?"

Valeria did not answer immediately.

Instead, she allowed the silence to linger.

"They advanced our understanding."

Elena’s expression darkened.

"They died."

"They changed history."

Anya’s crimson eyes hardened.

"They were children."

"They were pioneers."

The calm certainty in Valeria’s voice made her words even more chilling.

"You call them victims because you only see the lives they lost."

She looked toward the photographs once more.

"I see the foundation upon which a stronger humanity can be built."

Anya shook her head.

"No."

Valeria looked back at her.

"I see someone willing to sacrifice anyone for power."

For the first time since entering the room, Valeria’s smile faded.

"You sound remarkably similar to Dmitri Volkov."

Anya answered without hesitation.

"That’s because he taught me something your scientists never will."

"And what is that?"

"People aren’t experiments."

The words lingered between them.

Several researchers quietly looked away from the confrontation, pretending to focus on their equipment. Even among the Syndicate, not everyone appeared comfortable with the work being carried out inside the facility.

Valeria noticed.

"Begin today’s examinations."

The command instantly returned the room to motion.

Researchers approached carrying compact medical cases filled with sealed instruments. Their movements were cautious, almost hesitant, as though they feared making the slightest mistake around the restrained women.

While they prepared their equipment, Anya carefully observed every corner of the laboratory.

Four armed guards remained inside.

Two security cameras monitored the main entrance.

The ventilation grilles were reinforced, but one appeared newer than the others.

She committed every detail to memory.

Across the underground complex, another prisoner slowly opened his eyes.

Dmitri Volkov remained chained inside a reinforced containment cell built from thick steel and concrete. Heavy restraints secured his wrists above his head while additional locks held his ankles firmly against the floor.

Pain pulsed through his body.

Not from injury.

From whatever chemical the Syndicate had used to suppress the effects of Krov.

He lowered his head, breathing slowly until his heartbeat steadied.

Anger would accomplish nothing.

Observation would accomplish everything.

He listened.

Boots echoed somewhere beyond the steel door.

Electronic locks cycled open and closed at measured intervals.

Voices drifted faintly through the ventilation system.

One guard complained about changing shifts.

Another laughed.

Dmitri smiled to himself.

Every prison followed routines.

Every routine eventually created opportunity.

A speaker hidden within the ceiling crackled to life.

"Good morning, Thorn."

Valeria’s voice flowed calmly through the cell.

"I trust your accommodations are acceptable."

Dmitri raised his eyes toward the speaker.

"Where is Anya?"

No greeting.

No threats.

Only the question that mattered.

Valeria seemed almost amused.

"You continue to disappoint me."

"I asked you a question."

"And I expected you to ask about your empire."

Dmitri’s expression remained unchanged.

"My empire can rebuild itself."

A brief silence followed.

"My concern is my family."

For the first time, Valeria did not respond immediately.

Instead, a monitor mounted on the opposite wall flickered to life.

Anya appeared on the screen.

Alive.

Unbroken.

Their eyes met through the camera.

Though separated by layers of reinforced concrete and steel, neither looked away.

Valeria’s voice returned.

"She is alive."

Dmitri continued watching the monitor.

"For now."

A slow smile formed across his face.

Valeria noticed it immediately.

"You find this amusing?"

"No."

His silver eyes remained fixed on Anya.

"I was just thinking."

"About what?"

Dmitri finally looked toward the camera.

"You built this prison to keep me inside."

His voice remained calm.

"You should have built it to keep me out."

The monitor went black.

Somewhere else within the facility, Valeria stared thoughtfully at the blank screen.

For the first time since Dmitri’s capture, an unfamiliar feeling settled quietly in the back of her mind.

Doubt.

Later that night

The guards brought Anya to Dmitri’s cell that night, a brief reward for their twisted delight. The door locked behind them, chains gave some slack.

Dmitri pulled her close, no time to hold back.

Their kiss was fire, desperate and deep.

His hands roamed her body, making her weep with need.

He lifted her high, pressed her against the wall, pushing her gown up.

His thick cock thrust in, hard and so deep.

Anya moaned loudly, her pleasure complete.

"Fuck me, Dmitri, claim what is yours," she begged him wildly.

He pounded her cunt with powerful strokes.

Her heavy tits bounced, her pussy soaked.

"Say you’re mine," he growled in her ear.

"I am yours," she cried, shedding a tear.

He bit her neck, drinking her blood with greed.

The taste made him wild, fulfilling his need.

Anya came hard, screaming his name.

Her walls clenched tight, playing his game.

Dmitri exploded, flooding her deep.

Thick hot cum filled her, making her weep.

They whispered plans between every thrust.

Plotting their escape, building their trust.

The hour ended, guards came too soon.

But their love burned bright beneath the moon.
