The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 30: Practicing the Extraordinary, One Person’s Perseverance

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Practicing the Extraordinary, One Person’s Perseverance

Wang Ya read through the entirety of *Wizardry Theory*, trying to discover what Truth really was... but in the end, he still came up empty-handed.

The Wizard, Angelle Guanxi, hadn’t explained what Truth was in the Witch Book. Instead, it was a recounting of his experiences—an autobiography, one might say.

He was once a descendant of mortal nobility. A chance encounter led him down the path from Knight to Wizard, and eventually into the Wizard World. He experienced immense hardship and pain: the torment of time, the tragic deaths of his wife and children, until finally, he was left all alone. His Wizard Qualification wasn’t exceptional, and as his life was nearing its end, he acquired a sliver of the Time Ouroboros’s Extraordinary Bloodline. Relying on it, he advanced to the rank of Great Wizard and became known as the Ancestor of the Ring of Time. This was the story of one man’s perseverance!

How hard is it for one person to persevere?

Why persevere at all!

Wang Ya quietly uttered four words: "To pursue the Truth!"

He couldn’t answer what Truth was.

Every Wizard pursues Truth, and it was a question that inherently had no single, definitive answer.

A thousand Wizards, a thousand answers!

Some pursued it, persevered for the thrill of it!

Some pursued it, persevered out of a sense of duty!

Some pursued it, persevered for the sake of ambition!

Wang Ya closed *Wizardry Theory*. He wasn’t discouraged. ’Through practice and experience, I will eventually find my own Truth.’

’Truth is right there, right in front of me—the journey from the beginning of the path to its end. Perhaps after pushing open the Gate of Truth, I’ll only find an even longer road... but since I’ve persevered this far, I must continue on.’

His gaze fell upon the wooden box resting on a corner of his desk. With his Eye of Truth, he could see the illusory Spirit Body sleeping within. A girl with long, green hair. Even in her sleep, her brows were knitted with worry, her thin lips seeming to murmur something...

......

The process of studying Extraordinary Knowledge was incredibly tedious. As Wang Ya studied one Witch Book after another, he inevitably grew irritable and felt the urge to slack off. ’Persevering alone is hard, but it has to be done.’

Time flowed on. The pile of Witch Books he had studied and mastered on his desk grew, one after another. The stack of scratch paper had reached the thickness of two thumbs.

「Three days later.」

He put down his feather pen and ceased his study of Extraordinary Knowledge. It was a case of diminishing returns. His Spiritual Power and consciousness were exhausted; continuing to study would have little effect.

Wang Ya left his room and went to the Cultivation room. Harak flew over and plopped down on his shoulder. Confined in the Cultivation room, the Blue Poison Monkey appeared listless. The loss of freedom was a bitterness that an endless daily supply of nutritious food could not remedy.

Wang Ya only wanted the Blue Poison Monkey’s body, not its heart. Now was the perfect time to put what he had learned to the test.

The Blue Poison Monkey was of no use for verifying anything related to Elemental Energy. However, Wang Ya had also studied and mastered *Extraordinary Anatomy Basics* and *Extraordinary Extraction Basics*.

Both were indispensable abilities for any Wizard.

When conducting a Wizard Experiment, one faced various Extraordinary Raw Materials, such as Extraordinary Magical Plants and Extraordinary Creatures. It was crucial to know the proper points for dissection to avoid destroying the inherent Effect of the Extraordinary Materials.

Extraordinary Extraction was used to further refine raw materials to obtain pure, unadulterated Extraordinary Material. For Alchemy—or Magic Potion Science, as it could also be called—both dissection and extraction were indispensable.

These two skills were relevant across many other Extraordinary Disciplines as well.

The most crucial step in an Extraordinary Bloodline implantation surgery, for example, was extracting the bloodline essence from an Extraordinary Creature and perfectly activating the Extraordinary Bloodline factors within for fusion with the Wizard.

Seemingly noticing Wang Ya’s unsettling gaze, the Blue Poison Monkey began to squeak, its gem-like blue eyes filled with terror.

A smile appeared on Wang Ya’s face—a very benevolent one. The door to the Cultivation room closed. A complete set of the necessary Extraordinary Dissection implements, as well as tools for extraction, were available inside.

’The accommodations for new students at Ancient Forest Mountain are so much better than the ones on the Wizard Ship,’ Wang Ya thought, ’whether it’s the collection of books on the shelves or the facilities we get to use.’

"It’s even a brand name," Wang Ya said, surprised, as he examined the Wizard Dissection Knife in his hand. There was a special mark engraved on the hilt. It was the symbol of the knife’s creator, equivalent to a brand certification from his past life. Its function and quality should be superior to that of a standard Wizard Dissection Knife.

He weighed it in his hand; it wasn’t light. The material was likely an Extraordinary Metal. Its value might not be high, but adding even a small amount allowed it to channel a Wizard’s Particle Energy, enabling special effects and functions in certain aspects.

The books he’d read even recorded Wizards who fought using Wizard Dissection Knives. By injecting Particle Energy, they could extend the blade to about a meter in length and imbue it with all sorts of special attribute-enhancing functions.

Of course, the Wizard Dissection Knife provided to new students wasn’t so advanced in terms of Wizard Technology. After handling it for a few minutes, Wang Ya had more or less gotten used to it and figured out its only function.

Extensibility!

By injecting Particle Energy, he could extend the Wizard Dissection Knife by about three centimeters, making it exceptionally sharp. The hardest of bones would be no match for it.

The Blue Poison Monkey, strapped to the dissection table, gazed pitifully at Wang Ya, its body trembling. The monkey was terrified, a fear that intensified the moment it saw the silver blade in Wang Ya’s hand.

Monkeys were an intelligent species to begin with; as an Extraordinary Creature, this one’s intelligence was even greater.

"Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon. I’m going to carefully study your anatomy and understand the differences between the Extraordinary Poison you possess and the Red Scale Poison."

Wang Ya then changed into the special attire provided in the Cultivation room for dissection procedures.

He exchanged his black robe for a white one, which he cinched with a belt. The cuffs and hem were tightly bound so they wouldn’t interfere with the procedure.

On his face, he wore a special Face Armor. It was cold to the touch and released a special substance, like a pheromone, that helped the dissector maintain absolute concentration until the procedure was complete.

Reflected in the Blue Poison Monkey’s pupils was the fully outfitted Wang Ya, the cold blade in his hand, and his chillingly emotionless eyes. The monkey’s fear instantly peaked. A foul stench emanated from its lower body as it lost control of its bladder. Its piercing shriek made Wang Ya’s brow furrow, his gaze growing even more detached.

Once he entered this State, his emotions rarely wavered. The current situation didn’t even qualify as a difficulty in the dissection, let alone an accident.

A cold, white light flashed. The Blue Poison Monkey’s reproductive organ, the source of the liquid waste, fell perfectly intact onto the dissection table.

The small nuisance affecting the experiment was resolved.

Not a flicker of emotion showed in Wang Ya’s eyes. The Wizard Dissection Knife in his hand still gleamed coldly, unstained by even a single drop of blood. The cut had been incredibly fast.

The other Blue Poison Monkey, restrained nearby, let out a shriek of unprecedented terror upon seeing this. It struggled and thrashed, but it could not break free from its bonds.

Wang Ya glanced over impassively, his brow furrowing slightly as he considered... ’Should I eliminate the other disruptive factor before I begin?’
