Chapter 37: Chapter 36: Diverting Attention

"Alright, enough. I don’t have time to waste. I heard you’ve got some good stuff, so I came to try it out." Leon shot him an impatient look.

Kyle Quinn looked at the group of six men and two women before him and gave a sleazy smile. "I get it, I get it. This way, please. I guarantee you’ll all have a blast."

Kyle Quinn led them to a VIP room and had a waiter bring in drinks and a fruit platter.

Then he pulled three small, transparent sealed bags from his pocket and handed them over. "Leon, this is the new stuff. It’s potent and gives a real rush. All my clients here can’t stop raving about it."

"Not bad, kid. Didn’t you used to stay away from this stuff?" Leon took the sealed bags, rubbing his fingers over the plastic.

"Sigh, life forced my hand. Business at the club has been bad, so I had to find other ways to make money," Kyle Quinn said.

"Alright, go on. Don’t bother us unless you have to." Leon waved him away.

Kyle Quinn smiled knowingly and backed out of the room. "You got it. Just give me a shout if you need anything else."

Once outside the room, Kyle Quinn spat and muttered, "Who the hell does he think he is?"

After the door closed, Regan Knight took a small laptop from his bag and skillfully hacked into the club’s surveillance system.

"Boss, what’s the plan?" Leon asked.

Yvonne Lowell toyed with the dagger in her hand. "The target is upstairs?"

"Yep, that’s right. It’s the second suite on the right as you exit the elevator. No one usually goes near it." Leon pointed to a door on the screen, then paused. "You’re not planning on going yourself, are you? How about I make an excuse to lure him here?"

"No need. It’s more sincere to visit an old friend in person. You all just stay here and watch the monitors."

With that, she stood up, stretched her neck, put on her earpiece, and walked out of the room toward the stairwell.

Since she’d made up her mind, Leon didn’t say another word. He’d never seen anyone who could beat her, anyway.

As Yvonne Lowell opened the door, she instinctively glanced up at the camera above her.

Leo Grant’s gaze had been fixed on the surveillance camera outside her room ever since she went inside.

Nolan Crawford stared blankly, his eyes darting between Leo Grant and the screen as his mind raced.

’It’s over. My bro finally found a girl he doesn’t hate, and now this is happening?! How could that little fluffball do this?! Hanging out with other men is one thing, but how could she touch that stuff?!’

’Beneath that stoic expression, he must be feeling immense sorrow, anger, and disappointment. My bro is so pitiful! His heart must be completely shattered this time.’

Leo Grant: ’...Thanks, but no thanks. I’m not feeling any of that.’

The surveillance cameras picked up audio, so he had heard the conversation between Leon and Kyle Quinn perfectly clearly. He’d considered that she might just be here for fun, or maybe to stir up trouble, but he never suspected her of being here for the drugs.

’As for Leon being her boyfriend? Please. The thought never even crossed my mind.’

’Leon isn’t as tall or handsome as me, and he’s as timid as a quail around her. How could he possibly handle her?’

’Besides, he’s some mutt of mixed Country A and Country S descent. His bloodline isn’t pure. Unlike me, with my pure Aurelian blood.’

’So I don’t feel the least bit threatened.’

The moment Yvonne Lowell walked out and her eyes met his through the surveillance camera, Leo Grant seemed to understand everything.

Sure enough, the next second, he saw her enter the stairwell.

He closed his laptop. "Let’s go. Have Kyle Quinn come down to receive me personally. And have our men lock down all club entrances and exits."

’Time to create a diversion for my Little Marshmallow.’

"Yes, Master." Although Warren Lynch didn’t understand why he would suddenly choose to alert their target, he did as he was told.

After dealing with Leon, Kyle Quinn had just reached the top floor to catch his breath when he heard that the big boss himself had arrived. A flicker of panic crossed his face, and he hurried back downstairs with his men.

"Master, Young Master Crawford, what brings you all here?" he asked, respectfully rushing forward to greet the group as they entered.

Nolan Crawford stepped forward and clapped him on the shoulder like an old friend. "Old Man Quinn, what kind of thing is that to say? This is our place. Are you saying we’re not welcome?"

"Of course not, that’s not what I meant at all." Kyle Quinn’s heart sank, but he quickly forced a smile.

"I hear business has been good lately?" Nolan Crawford asked.

"It’s... it’s been the usual, you know, ups and downs. If you don’t believe me, you can check the books." Kyle Quinn grew more confident as he spoke. He had cooked the books so perfectly that he wasn’t afraid of any inspection.

A flicker of impatience crossed Leo Grant’s eyes. If he didn’t cause a big enough scene to draw everyone’s attention, he was afraid it would interfere with Little Marshmallow’s plan.

He waved his hand. "Warren Lynch."

Warren Lynch strode forward and dislocated both of Kyle Quinn’s arms. He screamed in agony and collapsed to his knees. "AHH! Master, what... what is the meaning of this?"

Hearing the scream, the club’s thugs came running out with weapons in hand, and the two sides entered a standoff.

Seeing his men had all appeared, a sliver of hope sparked in Kyle Quinn’s heart. ’Maybe we have a fighting chance?’ He secretly tried to signal his thugs with his eyes.

Leo Grant saw his movements but didn’t stop him, letting him continue his frantic signaling.

Kyle Quinn had long ago replaced the club’s enforcers with his own men. Most of Leo Grant’s original people had been driven away with various excuses, and those who remained had been turned to Quinn’s side.

But how could his ragtag crew compare to Leo Grant’s professionals? In a matter of moments, Leo’s men had disarmed them all and pinned them to the ground.

At this sight, Kyle Quinn’s heart filled with despair. He had no choice but to endure the pain and put on an act. "Are you all crazy? That’s our Master! Who told you to make a move?!"

Leo Grant walked forward, his expression serene, but the toe of his leather shoe was grinding into Quinn’s joints. "I’ve always turned a blind eye to you skimming a little off the top and cooking the books. I’m not short on cash, and I know that if the water’s too clear, you won’t find any fish. But haven’t I told you what my one absolute rule is? Hmm?"

"Master, I didn’t! I’m being framed! Of course I know your rules. How could I possibly break them on purpose?" Kyle Quinn, drenched in a cold sweat from the pain, begged for mercy.

"So you’re saying I’ve wronged you?"

"N-no... that’s not what I mean. Someone must have slandered me to make you misunderstand, Master. I’ve followed you for so many years! I’ve always been completely loyal to you!" Kyle Quinn continued to argue, trying to play the victim.

Leo Grant chuckled softly. His expression was gentle, but the pressure from his foot intensified.

"Stop talking. It’s too noisy. I don’t like it."

Kyle Quinn could only grit his teeth in silence. He knew that if he didn’t obey Leo Grant, the consequences would be far worse.

Leo Grant lifted his foot and walked toward the elevator. "Bring him."

At his command, Warren Lynch dragged Kyle Quinn along. He, Nolan Crawford, and Sebastian Lynch followed Leo Grant into the elevator.

Back in the VIP room, the group watching the monitors saw them enter the elevator. Their expressions changed instantly, and they scrambled to head for the top floor.
