Chapter 26: Chapter 25: Indirectly Calling Her Stupid?

Her fingers, which had been hanging naturally at her side, twitched slightly, as if sending some kind of signal.

"Miss Lowell, Eldest Young Master Lowell, Young Master Grant, a pleasure. I’m Holly Sutton," Holly Sutton said with a smile as she greeted them.

Yvonne Lowell looked at Caleb Lowell with feigned innocence. "Brother, do you know her?"

"I don’t," Caleb Lowell replied, not even gracing Holly Sutton with a sideways glance.

Yvonne Lowell pretended to have a sudden realization. "Oh, then she must be here for Leo, right?"

"I don’t know her either," Leo Grant said, helplessly patting her on the head.

Caleb Lowell’s brow furrowed slightly. He brushed Leo’s hand away. "Just talk. No need to get handsy."

Seeing them ignore her and chat amongst themselves as if she wasn’t there, Holly Sutton’s expression twisted for a moment.

"My father is the chairman of Sutton Construction. We’re not a prominent family, so it’s normal that you wouldn’t know me. I just wanted to come and say hello." After speaking, Holly Sutton shot Caleb Lowell a look full of tender affection.

"You’ve said your hello. You can go now," Caleb Lowell said impatiently.

’He’d encountered plenty of these cheap tricks right after taking over the Lowell Group. Did she really think she could pull this pathetic act in front of him?’

Yvonne Lowell gave Caleb Lowell a reproachful push. "Sutton Construction... why does that sound so familiar?"

"That’s the Sutton Group that had a ton of scandals exposed recently because the son was caught doing drugs. It was a trending topic for days, so it’s normal that it sounds familiar to you, Yvonne," Leo Grant explained.

"Ah, so it’s the Sutton Family, the one that used to be the Ford Family. Miss Sutton, is there anything else?" Yvonne Lowell asked, smiling at Holly Sutton.

Yvonne’s gaze sent an inexplicable chill down Holly Sutton’s spine, shooting straight to her head.

Holly Sutton’s eyes darted away as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, I see there’s a piano on the stage. I was once fortunate enough to become the final disciple of the piano maestro, Madam Luna. I was wondering if I might have the honor of performing a piece for Miss Lowell?"

"Luna’s final disciple? I’m a good friend of Luna’s, but how come I’ve never heard that *he* has a final disciple?" Yvonne Lowell smiled meaningfully. "I didn’t even know his greatest strength was the piano."

Holly Sutton looked flustered but forced herself to remain calm. "Miss Lowell, you haven’t been deceived, have you? My master has been in seclusion for a long time. And given her age, it’s impossible that she could be your friend."

"Is that so? As it happens, he’s here today too. Why don’t I have him come over for a chat with you? We’ll see who’s real and who’s fake."

Caleb Lowell and Leo Grant could tell at a glance that Yvonne Lowell was deliberately targeting her. They didn’t know why, but so what? Yvonne was always right. They simply stuck their hands in their pockets, swirled the red wine in their glasses, and enjoyed the show, even clinking their glasses together from time to time.

Zachary Jacobs, who had been eavesdropping for a while, was finally able to send the post he had drafted earlier. He didn’t forget to switch to Pluto’s official account to retweet it.

Only then did he walk forward. "How come I never knew I had a final disciple? And I hear I’ve even had a sex change?"

When Holly Sutton saw Zachary Jacobs, even though she didn’t recognize him, she felt an inexplicable sense of disgust and hatred. ’This person really deserves to die.’

She glared righteously at Zachary Jacobs. "Sir, stop with the impersonation. Miss Lowell might be naive enough to be fooled by you, but I will not allow anyone to use my master’s name to swindle people."

*Tsk.* ’What’s that supposed to mean? That I’m naive? Easily fooled? Is she calling me stupid in a roundabout way?’

"Oh, why don’t you check your phone first? Your ’master’ just made his first post in three years," Zachary Jacobs said pointedly.

Luna’s reputation was immense. He was an instrumental master famous both at home and abroad. No one knew if he was male or female, nor his age or appearance. He had never held a concert, only releasing audio and video online, and was called a god by many professional maestros.

He had fans of all ages from all over the country, but he had suddenly vanished three years ago. If not for the fact that his previous works were still available, people might have thought his existence was just a dream.

That same year, Holly Sutton debuted under the banner of being Luna’s "final disciple." Her piano playing was, admittedly, decent enough, which helped her gain a lot of fans. It’s no exaggeration to say that her success today was almost entirely due to her reputation as Luna’s beloved student.

Just then, the "special follow" notification tone rang out from numerous phones throughout the banquet hall. One after another, people pulled out their phones to look.

Holly Sutton frantically fumbled in her clutch for her phone and opened the social media app.

[Luna (V): LMAO, I just quit the internet, I didn’t die. Has the bar for impersonators gotten this low? Any Tom, Dick, or Harry thinks they can run around scamming people in my name? For the record, I have *never* taken on a disciple. You couldn’t even figure out if I’m a man or a woman, and you’re calling me a "piano maestro"? Every true fan knows piano is my worst instrument, but you’re even worse than I am. @HollySutton]

[Pluto Consortium (V): [Retweet] Our poor Number Three Boss. The legal team is standing by. [Salute]]

Pluto’s operations department had been monitoring online trends. As soon as Luna’s post went up, it shot to the top of the trending charts.

Holly Sutton’s social media page and fan forums were instantly flooded. Some people renounced their fandom, while some delusional fans were still stubbornly defending her.

[LUNA!! My light has returned!! Even if it’s because of this stupid mess.]

[Thanks, Holly Sutton, for letting me find out the legend is a guy, and he seems pretty young too.]

[LMAO, everyone knows Luna’s best instrument is the guqin. "Piano maestro," my ass.]

[Heh, what a piece of trash. Who would’ve ever watched you if you weren’t riding on Master Lunara’s coattails?]

[Long-time Luna fan here. To be honest... when Sutton first debuted, I said her playing was terrible and that there was no way she was Luna’s disciple. Because I said that, her psycho fans doxed and cyberbullied me. I got razor blades and funeral wreaths sent to my house every day. I ended up developing depression and had to move away from the city I’d lived in for 25 years.]

[Our girl just pretended to be his disciple, what’s the big deal? She was only 20 back then, what did she know? It was probably the management company’s idea! She’s a victim too!]

[Exactly, to err is human. She just made a small mistake.]

[What’s Luna’s problem? Isn’t he just some damn musician? Our girl wanting to be his disciple is a blessing for him, and he has the nerve to come out and run his mouth.]

[Shut up, I bet you can’t even play. Like idol, like fan—both are just as trashy.]

[Um... did you guys not see the retweet from Pluto? Luna is their Number Three Boss... he’s protected by the Lowell Family.]

[Shut up, I’m choosing to be selectively blind. Please don’t remind me, thanks!]

[So the legend went offline to build an empire? And he succeeded?!]

Don’t talk about how this wasn’t an honorable thing to do, or how they shouldn’t have sicced netizens on her. Didn’t Holly Sutton herself once spread sexual rumors about a rival to get her out of the way, inciting a mob of cyberbullies that drove the girl to commit suicide? And back in school, wasn’t she a ringleader of bullying? Anyone prettier, smarter, or more popular than her had been a target of her torment.

And now people wanted to talk to them about honor and morality? Sorry, but morality was something the three of them never had.

’It was just giving her a taste of her own medicine. Besides, she’s thick-skinned. A little drama like this wouldn’t be enough to truly faze her.’

Feeling the pointing fingers and scornful gazes from all around, Holly Sutton’s face turned deathly pale. She hurriedly bowed to Zachary Jacobs in apology. "I’m sorry, Master Lunara! It was my fault. I shouldn’t have pretended to be your final disciple. Please, forgive me."

Zachary Jacobs sidestepped her bow, his expression blank. "There’s a lot more you need to apologize for than just this."

After their mother passed away, he and his sister were forced to live in a dog kennel in their own home. That natural-born monster had even deliberately thrown boiling water at them. If his sister hadn’t shielded him from half of it, he probably would have been scalded to death. The large, permanent burn scars on his sister’s back and his own arm were all because of her.

Sensing that Zachary Jacobs was losing control of his emotions, Yvonne Lowell stepped forward, pulled him back, and pushed him toward Caleb Lowell. "Brother, keep an eye on him for me. Don’t let him do anything stupid."

Then, she turned to Holly Sutton, the corner of her mouth curling into a bloodthirsty smile. "Miss Sutton, don’t be in such a hurry to apologize. This is only the beginning."
