Chapter 11: Chapter 10: Encountering a Drunkard

Yvonne Lowell humored him, stepping forward to link her arm through his. "Alright, I’ll let you win next time."

"Hey! This old man doesn’t need you to go easy on me! I just didn’t see the board clearly and used the wrong strategy," Grandpa Lowell insisted stubbornly.

"Yes, yes, of course. I was just lucky."

As the grandfather and granddaughter pushed open the study door to head downstairs, they saw Caleb Lowell coming up. "Grandpa, Nola, it’s time for lunch."

"We’re coming, Big Bro."

Grandpa Lowell patted her hand. "When you have some free time, bring that boy from the Ford Family over for a visit."

"Okay. I also have a good friend named Nina Jennings. The three of us have been inseparable for years. She’s been abroad recently, but I’ll invite her over too when she gets back."

"Hahaha, good. From now on, they’ll all be children of the Lowell family."

The grandfather and granddaughter walked ahead, their voices filled with cheerful laughter, leaving Caleb Lowell to fall behind, looking a bit lonely.

Caleb Lowell: ’So the saying is true, "domestic flowers aren’t as fragrant as wild ones." A blood-related grandson can’t compare to a potential grandson-in-law?’

...

After lunch, the responsible older brothers had business to attend to and left.

The elders went to take their naps or returned to work, leaving Yvonne, Harrison, and Yancy sitting idly in the living room.

Harrison Lowell, as if jolted back to life, shot up from the sofa. "Why don’t we go out and have some fun?"

Yvonne Lowell and Yancy Lowell glanced up at him for a moment before looking down and returning to what they were doing.

"Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? I’m your second brother, the so-called ’Little Tyrant of Kingsland’! Are you looking down on me?"

Yancy Lowell scoffed. "What’s so fun about going out with you? Are we going to count how many cameras we run into between here and home?"

"Tsk, I can wear a disguise, okay! We just need to go somewhere indoors. How about Comet? Brother Grant’s place is really private," Harrison Lowell said, slapping his thigh as the idea hit him.

Yancy Lowell looked at his sister. "If Nola goes, I’ll go."

So, Harrison put his hands together in a pleading gesture and turned to Yvonne Lowell. "Nola, your second brother is going to get moldy if he doesn’t get out of the house soon."

Yvonne Lowell could only relent with a nod. "Alright, let’s go then."

"YES! Let’s move out!" Harrison Lowell exclaimed, hooking an arm through each of his siblings’ and pulling them toward the door.

Since Harrison Lowell didn’t want to drive, he simply had the chauffeur take them.

「At Comet.」

Harrison Lowell, wearing a mask and sunglasses that wrapped him up like a mummy, scurried inside furtively.

If the lobby manager hadn’t been used to his getup, he probably would have had security throw the man out.

"Second Young Master Lowell, the usual for you today?" Waving aside a nearby server, the manager came forward to greet him personally.

Harrison Lowell gave a slight nod. "It’s just the three of us today. You can handle the arrangements. No alcohol."

As the other two siblings walked into the lobby, the sharp-eyed manager spotted them. "That must be Third Young Master Lowell and Eldest Miss Lowell, right? You all look so alike. Don’t worry, I’ll get everything arranged right away."

’Dude, hello? We’re fraternal twins! And she wasn’t even part of the same pregnancy! How in the world do we look alike?!’

Yvonne Lowell’s expression remained unchanged as she nodded and walked into the elevator.

The moment they entered the private room, Harrison Lowell snatched the microphone. "Nola, you’ve never heard your second brother sing, have you? Let me sing for you!"

Yancy, who was frantically shaking his head and waving his hands beside him, was a step too late. The second Harrison finished speaking, he started to howl.

’No one ever told her that her A-list celebrity brother was only an A-lister in the film industry! It was one thing to be completely tone-deaf, but what was he thinking choosing a song like "Tibetan Plateau"?!’

Yancy was already pulling tissues from the box, twisting them into little plugs, and handing them to Yvonne Lowell.

The two of them exchanged a resigned glance and, in perfect unison, stuffed the tissues into their ears.

When he finished his song and turned around, they removed the tissues in sync.

"How was it, Nola? Your second brother’s pretty good, right?" Harrison Lowell asked, fishing for compliments, clearly pleased with his own performance.

Yvonne’s smile faltered for a moment. "That was great. You should never sing again."

"Why? You didn’t like it? Then I’ll sing some Jay Chou for you next time! Remember you said ’Home is the...’"

"No, Second Brother, that’s not it," Yvonne Lowell quickly cut in. "I’m just worried the people in the next room might hear us. Our fun might be too loud for them."

Harrison Lowell waved her concern away dismissively. "It’s fine. The soundproofing in here is insanely good. No big deal."

Just as she was about to say something else, Yvonne Lowell’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and stood up. "I’m going to take this call outside."

The moment Yvonne was gone, Yancy started laying into him. "Your singing is lethal, don’t you know that? And you still have the nerve to keep bragging."

"Pfft. See? You just don’t know how to appreciate real talent. Did you see how much Nola liked it?" With that, Harrison picked up the microphone and started queuing up another song.

...

Yvonne Lowell waited until she was in the hallway to answer the call. "What’s up?"

In that moment, she exuded a dangerous air, a stark contrast to the sweet, obedient girl she was in front of her family. There wasn’t the slightest resemblance.

It was unclear what the person on the other end said, but her lips curled into a smirk. "Your information travels fast. Are you having me watched?"

"I’m busy lately. Let’s talk after my welcome-back banquet."

"It’s not set. I don’t know the date yet, but it’s soon."

"I know, I won’t forget your invitation. But it would be best if you didn’t come."

"Alright, I’m hanging up. We’ll talk then."

After hanging up, Yvonne Lowell turned to head back to the room.

As she passed another private room, a drunkard stumbled out.

The buttons on his shirt strained as if about to pop, and he swayed unsteadily in the corridor.

When he saw Yvonne Lowell, his eyes, which had been mere slits, opened a fraction wider.

"Well now, where’d this little beauty come from? Did your sugar daddy dump you? Why don’t you come into my arms instead~"
