Chapter 21: Special Monster II
The moment the notification appeared, several more system messages followed.
[Congratulations! You have successfully tamed a Rare-rank monster without using a taming skill or Beast Tamer class.]
[Passive Skill: Nature Charm has evolved.]
[Nature Charm (D) → Nature Charm (C)]
[Your affinity with beasts has greatly increased.]
[Pet Slot +1 acquired.]
[Rare-rank Blood Warlock has been registered as your pet.]
Kaiser smiled as he read the notifications.
"As expected."
"Evolving a stronger monster gives better rewards."
"And I even gained another pet slot."
Kaiser looked at the notification thoughtfully.
"From the looks of it, I might gain another pet slot every time I evolve a monster to a higher rank."
His eyes lit up with excitement.
"If that’s true, then evolving an Epic-rank monster might unlock another pet slot as well."
He then opened the description of Nature Charm.
It was a simple passive skill.
It continuously gave him a friendly aura that made wild beasts and monsters less hostile toward him.
Because of it, earning their trust and approaching them without provoking an attack became much easier.
He could already feel the difference after Nature Charm evolved.
The passive effect had become noticeably stronger.
It would now be even easier for him to gain the trust of monsters and tame creatures even without Reconstruction.
He then opened the Blood Warlock’s status screen.
Name: Blood Warlock
Race: Undead
Rank: Rare
Level: 20
Loyalty: 100%
Health: 1,850
Mana: 5,500
Traits
Blood Magic
Undead Body
Skills
Blood Spear
Blood Bolt
Blood Drain
Bone Arrow
Blood Shield
Blood Explosion
Mana Sense
Kaiser carefully read every skill.
"Blood Spear."
"It condenses blood mana into a spear capable of piercing armor."
"Blood Bolt is simply a stronger version of Blood Arrow."
He then looked at the next skill.
"Blood Drain."
"It drains Health from enemies and converts a portion into Mana."
Kaiser nodded in satisfaction.
"A very useful recovery skill."
His eyes moved to the next one.
"Blood Shield."
"A defensive spell created from condensed blood mana."
"Good."
"It finally has some defensive capability."
The final offensive skill caught his attention.
"Blood Explosion."
"It detonates blood mana inside a target, dealing heavy damage."
Kaiser smiled.
"This one should be powerful against living enemies."
He then looked at the traits.
"Blood Magic..."
"It simply grants him access to Blood Magic."
"And Undead Body makes him highly resistant to most forms of physical damage while also eliminating the need for food, sleep, or breathing."
Kaiser nodded in satisfaction.
"Hehehe..."
"This is really great."
"I wonder what you’ll evolve into after reaching Epic Rank."
He looked at the Blood Warlock with a smile.
Without another word, Kaiser waved his hand and summoned the Pet Space.
The Blood Warlock disappeared in a flash of light and entered the separate dimension.
Inside the Pet Space, the environment changed once again.
Beside the vast muddy plains that served as the Giant Earth Slime’s habitat, another region slowly took shape.
The ground turned dark and lifeless.
Pools of crimson blood appeared across the landscape, while countless weathered bones and broken gravestones emerged from the earth.
A faint death aura filled the area, creating an environment perfectly suited for an undead creature.
The Blood Warlock looked around at its new home.
The crimson flames burning within its eye sockets flickered even brighter, clearly expressing its satisfaction with the environment.
Kaiser closed the Pet Space.
"Let’s continue leveling up."
"Then we’ll head for the nearest miniboss."
He looked at Marina.
"Which one is the closest?"
Marina took out her phone and opened the dungeon map.
After checking it for a few seconds, she answered,
"The closest one is the Soul-Sucking Butterfly."
Kaiser looked at the monster’s picture on her screen.
It was a beautiful but eerie creature.
Its wings were pitch black, covered with pale bone-like patterns that looked as if skeletons had been carved into them.
The strange contrast made it appear both beautiful and dangerous at the same time.
Marina continued explaining.
"The most troublesome ability of this miniboss is its Black Fog Domain."
"It creates a black mist with a radius of one hundred meters around itself."
"Anyone inside the domain has all of their attributes reduced by fifty percent."
"At the same time, they continuously lose one percent of their Health every second."
Kaiser nodded after hearing the explanation.
"It would be troublesome for melee fighters."
"But it shouldn’t be a problem for us."
Marina looked at him curiously.
"You have a way to deal with it?"
Kaiser smiled.
"My Light Bullets have a much longer range than one hundred meters."
"I don’t even need to enter its domain."
"And if the fog spreads farther than expected..."
"I can simply clear it away with Light of Purification."
Marina remembered the Light-element spell that specialized in purification and nodded.
"You’re right."
"Darkness-based domains are usually weak against purification magic."
Kaiser smiled.
"Then let’s go."
The two immediately changed direction and headed toward the Soul-Sucking Butterfly’s territory.
Along the way, they continued eliminating every undead monster they encountered.
Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Archers, and Skeleton Mages fell one after another beneath Kaiser’s Light Bullets.
His experience steadily increased while Marina collected the monster cores and other drops behind him.
About twenty minutes later, the atmosphere around them gradually changed.
The number of undead monsters began decreasing.
Instead, black butterflies could be seen fluttering through the dead forest.
Some of the trees had completely withered, and patches of dark mist floated between their branches.
Marina slowed her pace.
"We’re getting close."
"The Soul-Sucking Butterfly’s territory starts here."
Kaiser nodded and looked ahead.
"I can already feel its aura."
Unlike the ordinary monsters they had encountered so far, the pressure coming from deeper within the forest was noticeably stronger.
It was clear that they had finally reached the territory of the dungeon’s first miniboss.
The two continued moving forward carefully.
The black mist in the area gradually became thicker.
Fortunately, it was only the natural mist surrounding the miniboss’s territory and not the Black Fog Domain itself.
Kaiser looked around.
Several ordinary black butterflies rested on the branches of the dead trees.
Unlike the miniboss, these monsters were only regular mob.
They immediately flew toward the two of them.
