Chapter 18: Graveyard

Chapter 18: Graveyard

"You know what I mean, brother."

Kaiser rolled his eyes.

"I’m not like you."

Alex only laughed.

"Still..."

"You’ve thought about it at least once, haven’t you?"

He gave Kaiser a knowing smile.

Kaiser simply shrugged.

"Of course the thought crossed my mind."

Don’t blame me.

You brought it up yourself.

Kaiser glanced at Marina.

She simply returned his gaze with a gentle, obedient smile.

Perhaps she hadn’t understood the meaning behind their conversation.

Or perhaps she had.

If so, the Slave Contract had already twisted her loyalty to such an extent that even the thought of serving her master in that way no longer repulsed her.

Kaiser quickly pushed those thoughts aside.

"Let’s stop wasting time."

"We’re heading to the Black Bone Graveyard."

"That’s where we’ll obtain our classes."

Alex nodded in agreement.

The group left the dungeon gate, and Alex called over his luxury limousine.

Once everyone was inside, Alex casually sat in the middle, with Lana and Mary on either side of him.

Wrapping an arm around each of their waists, he leaned back comfortably.

"Let’s call Alicia as well."

"We should bring her along."

Kaiser nodded and immediately dialed her number.

The call connected after a few rings.

"Kai?"

"How are you?" Alicia asked cheerfully.

"I’m fine," Kaiser replied.

"Come to the Black Bone Graveyard."

"We’re forming a party to clear a hidden challenge."

There was a brief silence before Alicia answered apologetically.

"Sorry, but my elder sister is taking me to register with her guild today."

"I won’t be able to come with you guys."

"Tell Alex I said hi."

"Bye."

"Wait."

Kaiser stopped her before she could hang up.

"There’s something else."

"I can’t explain it over the phone."

"Just come here."

"I guarantee you won’t regret it."

Alicia fell silent for a few moments.

Then she asked seriously,

"Is it really that important?"

"Yes."

"Very important."

After another brief pause, Alicia finally replied,

"...Alright."

"I’ll be there in about half an hour."

Kaiser smiled.

"Good."

"We’ll wait for you at the café across from the Black Bone Graveyard."

"See you soon."

"Okay."

Alicia hummed in acknowledgment before ending the call.

"You know," Alex said as he put away his phone, "my father actually tried to recruit Alicia into our guild."

"With a talent like hers, our guild’s overall strength would increase tremendously."

He sighed.

"But the Thunderfire Guild has a much better chance of recruiting her since her elder sister is already one of their core members."

Kaiser nodded.

He understood why.

Alicia’s Amplify talent was simply too valuable.

"By the way," Alex continued, "I also spoke to my father about you."

"He said we could recruit you as our guild’s exclusive Repairer."

"Our guild controls more than six dungeon gates. Equipment gets damaged all the time, so you’d never run out of customers."

Kaiser smiled and shook his head.

"It’s alright."

"I don’t need any help."

"I’m doing just fine on my own."

Alex simply nodded without trying to persuade him further.

Soon, they arrived at the Black Bone Graveyard.

Since the dungeon gate was under the control of Alex’s father’s guild, they entered without any trouble.

The group then waited at the café across from the entrance for Alicia to arrive.

About ten minutes later, she walked through the door.

She was wearing a complete set of Rare-grade armor, which fit her perfectly.

"Well?"

"How do I look?"

She spun around with a bright smile.

Alex and Kaiser both gave her a thumbs-up.

"You look great," Kaiser said with a smile.

"It seems the Thunderfire Guild really values you."

Alicia nodded proudly.

"Of course."

"My Amplify talent doesn’t only work on me."

"I can also cast it on other people."

Kaiser blinked.

"You can?"

Alex looked equally surprised.

Alicia nodded.

"Yes."

"Although when I use it on someone else, the duration is much shorter, and the mana cost increases fivefold."

"Even so..."

"That’s still an incredible ability," Alex said with a sigh.

Once again, he felt that his father had underestimated just how valuable Alicia’s talent truly was.

Alicia smiled before looking at Kaiser.

"So..."

"What was so important that you insisted I come?"

Kaiser smiled.

"We found a hidden class quest."

"...What?"

Alicia’s eyes widened.

"Seriously?"

Kaiser nodded.

Alicia’s excitement was immediately visible.

"This is huge!"

"Doesn’t that mean you’ve discovered the location of a hidden class quest?"

"Even in the capital, hidden class locations are considered priceless secrets."

"People usually sell information like that for astronomical prices."

"And yet there’s one inside a low-rank dungeon?"

Kaiser nodded again.

Before he could explain further, Alicia’s eyes landed on Marina.

Her expression instantly turned cold.

"So it was this bitch."

"It looks like she tried to use you to get closer to Alex."

Alex nodded.

"Ignore her."

"Let’s focus on today’s objective."

Kaiser calmly changed the subject.

"Marina."

"Explain how you found the hidden quest."

"Yes, Master."

Marina respectfully stepped forward.

"It happened by accident."

"While exploring the Black Bone Graveyard, I discovered one of the four strange tombs."

"At first, I didn’t think much of it."

"Later, I noticed that each of the four minibosses dropped a unique bone fragment."

"Those fragments are normally treated as crafting materials for undead-attribute equipment, so their appearances are publicly available."

"When I compared one of the bone fragments with the markings on the tomb, I realized it fit perfectly."

"That’s when I suspected it was part of a hidden puzzle."

"So I searched for the remaining three tombs."

"After collecting all four bone fragments and placing them on their respective tombs..."

"I obtained the way to hidden quest and became the first player to clear the hidden trial."

Everyone nodded.

They were all familiar with the bone fragments dropped by the dungeon’s four minibosses.

None of them had ever imagined they were actually keys to a hidden quest.

"Alright," Alicia said excitedly.

"Then let’s split up."

"We’ll defeat the four minibosses as quickly as possible, collect the bone fragments, and open the hidden portal."

Marina shook her head.

"There’s no need."

Everyone looked at her.

"Since I already cleared the trial once, I know another way."

"The four special tombs just holds the fragments of the map leading to the hidden location and I already know that location"

"There is no need to collect the bone fragments"

"We only need to reach the hidden location."

Hearing that, everyone was pleasantly surprised.

"Really?"

Marina nodded.

"Yes."

"Then what are we waiting for?" Alicia said excitedly.

"Let’s go!"

"Wait."
