Chapter 5: Punching The Child
Chapter 5: 5: Punching The Child
Roderic clenched his fist, grinning widely as he took a step closer to Dennis.
Sensing something completely wrong, Dennis immediately took a step back.
’’W-what are you doing?’’ he asked, raising his hands in front of him.
Roderic didn’t answer.
Instead, his grin only widened.
Dennis’s face went completely pale as Roderic’s shadow settled over him.
’’H-Hey...’’
BAM!
Before he could react, Roderic’s fist slammed straight into his face.
CRACK!
Dennis’s nose caved in as his small body stumbled back.
For a second, everything went dark in front of his eyes.
Blood began pouring from his nose as he let out a shrill cry.
He stumbled back several steps before his heel got caught behind a slightly elevated marble tile.
Thud!
His body crashed onto the floor, his eyes rolling to the back of his head.
For several seconds, the entire corridor fell completely silent.
Dennis simply lay there, a thin trail of blood running onto the floor.
’Surprisingly, that looked... sadder than I’d expected,’ Roderic thought, shaking his fist. ’For such a big mouth, I’d really expected a bit more.’
But did it feel satisfying? Hell yeah!
Would he do it again if he had to? In a heartbeat!
Suddenly, a blue window popped up in front of him.
[Main Quest Completed]
Would you like to claim the reward now?
A wide grin spread across Roderic’s face as he stared at the message.
’It worked!’ he thought. ’I can’t believe it!’
Even so, he did not claim the reward right away, dismissing the window with a slight wave of his hand instead.
Only now, after a few seconds had passed, did the nearby servants snap out of their daze.
’’Y-young Master Dennis!’’
Even Edmund stood frozen in place, his eyes fixed on Roderic in utter disbelief.
Never, not once in all these years, had he seen the young master raise a hand against anyone.
’’Call the physician!’’ one of the maids cried out.
Several servants rushed toward Dennis, panic spreading through the corridor.
’’Young Master Dennis! Young Master Dennis!’’
’’I-Is he breathing?’’
’’Of course he’s breathing, you idiot!’’ another servant snapped. ’’Just get the Madam here already!’’
Edmund finally came back to his senses.
He slowly turned toward Roderic, his mouth opening and closing several times before any words came out.
’’Y-Young master...’’
Roderic merely shrugged as he turned away.
’’He’ll live,’’ he said. ’’Besides, my elder brother did this to me for years, so it shouldn’t be a problem.’’
Just then, a weak groan came from behind him.
Dennis slowly opened his eyes, his hand reaching for the blood leaking from his nose.
The moment he saw the blood covering his hand, his eyes widened.
For a second, he simply stared at it in disbelief.
Then his lips began trembling.
’’M-My nose...’’
Tears instantly welled up in his eyes.
’’Y-You broke my nose!’’ he wailed, his voice cracking. ’’You actually hit me?!’’
He pointed a trembling finger at Roderic.
’’You’re dead!’’ he screamed through his tears. ’’Mother’s going to kill you!’’
His crying only grew louder.
’’I-I’ll tell Father too! I’ll make sure he throws you out of the family!’’
He glared at Roderic with blood running down his face, yet not a single servant could take his threat seriously while he was crying so miserably.
Roderic slowly came to a halt.
Then, without saying a word, he turned around.
’’You know,’’ he said, raising his fist again. ’’You really should stop talking shit.’’
As he began walking toward Dennis, the nearby servants all backed away.
Dennis’s crying gradually died down.
Seeing Roderic approach again, his pupils shrank.
"W-What are you doing...?" he stammered, instinctively crawling backwards.
Roderic stopped right in front of him and crouched down.
Slowly raising his fist, Dennis’s face instantly lost all its color.
"No!" he cried, throwing both hands over his head. "I-I won’t say anything anymore!"
A wide grin spread across Roderic’s face.
He firmly patted Dennis’s head.
’’Good boy.’’
With that, Roderic stood up and turned back toward Edmund.
’’Let’s go back now.’’
Edmund stood there for a moment, still unable to process everything that had just happened.
Finally, he hurried after Roderic.
’’Y-Yes, young master.’’
The surrounding servants instinctively parted to make way for them.
Only after the two disappeared around the corner did the corridor erupt into chaos once more.
Meanwhile, Roderic walked through the manor as if nothing had happened.
Edmund repeatedly glanced at him, only to quickly look away whenever their eyes almost met.
Finally, he could no longer hold himself back.
’’Young master...’’ he began cautiously. ’’Since when... did you become so brave?’’
Before Roderic could answer, a shrill scream suddenly echoed throughout the manor.
The furious cry rippled through the marble corridors.
Servants all around them froze in place, knowing who that voice belonged to.
Edmund’s expression also shifted, a flicker of fear flashing through his eyes.
’’The Madam...’’ he muttered under his breath.
In contrast, the corners of Roderic’s mouth slowly curved upward, an even wider grin spreading across his face.
’Right on cue,’ he thought. ’That’s some nice payback!’
The screaming only continued, even growing louder occasionally.
Heavy footsteps echoed throughout the manor as several servants hurried in the same direction.
Edmund swallowed hard and quickened his pace.
’’Young master... perhaps we should head to your room immediately.’’
Roderic nodded once.
’’That was the plan, yes.’’
He continued walking at the same relaxed pace, his hands slipping back into his pockets.
His thoughts had long drifted somewhere else.
’I wonder what a Supreme Aura Constitution is,’ he thought. ’Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be amazing.’
Before long, the two arrived outside a familiar wooden door.
Edmund quickly stepped forward and pushed it open.
’’Young master,’’ he said, bowing politely.
Roderic nodded before walking inside.
The moment the door shut behind him, the outside noise disappeared completely.
His eyes swept through the room for a moment, taking in the luxurious furnishings.
Finally, he glanced back at the system screen.
[Main Quest Completed.]
Reward: Supreme Aura Constitution + 10000 Throne Coins
Would you like to claim your reward?
’’Well, of course,’’ he said, grinning.
Without another thought, he pressed down on the screen.
