How To Survive A Cute Ghost Yandere
Chapter 5: Erness Iroha

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Erness Iroha

"Is this it...?"

It really was a stroke of good luck that Eiros had managed to reach his dorm room without being spotted by that woman. At the same time, he had no intention of drawing extra attention with his uniform, currently stained through with blood.

He’d nearly gotten caught by the guards, but luckily he managed to convince them it was just spilled tomato juice. There were plenty of other logical excuses lying around that made the guards buy it easily enough.

Anyway, staring down at the silver token in his hand—stamped with B-43, a short little chain hanging off the end of it, with a silver key dangling there—Eiros checked it against the door in front of him.

Room B-43, Silver Palace.

The name fit well enough.

He slid the key into the lock.

Click—!

"...!"

The satisfying sound of the door unlocking made Eiros nearly sag with relief. He gripped the doorknob, turned it, and pushed the door open.

A low, crisp creak rang out. Then he found himself facing a room that was, honestly, pretty decent in quality.

The room had only two sections total. One bedroom, fully equipped with a study desk, a wardrobe, and various other furniture, and a bathroom tucked into one corner.

The lighting was dim, powered by magic lamps. The window looked out over the grounds outside the dorm, showing off a garden nearby and a vast forest stretching out in the distance.

Eiros shut the door and locked it. Now that he finally felt safe, he needed to work out exactly what to do next.

With the system holding him hostage at this Academy, and with whatever scenario might be waiting for him that he had no way of knowing—including that woman potentially targeting him specifically.

Eiros figured he at least needed to write everything down, straighten a few things out in his head, make some educated guesses, and finally piece together a real plan.

He looked around the room for a moment and found a book with a rough, coarse-textured surface. Since this world wasn’t a modern one, Eiros had to adjust to every little thing that didn’t match his old world.

Instead of a pen, there was only a quill with black ink. He didn’t complain as he opened the book to its first page—it turned out to be a diary belonging to the real Eiros.

But there was nothing particularly special in it. It just went on about how excited he was to live at the Academy, going on dates with a few pretty girls, and enjoying the delicious food in the cafeteria.

There were a few clues about his family scattered here and there. But aside from the fact that the real Eiros came from a noble family, nothing else stood out—he seemed to be just an unremarkable, run-of-the-mill noble.

Dipping the quill in ink, Eiros wetted his lips before finally turning to a fresh, blank page.

He then began writing down everything he remembered from those first thirty Chapters. The story was still in its early stages—not much progress on the plot front. Just character introductions and a few simple training arcs sprinkled with minor incidents.

’The webtoon was called Under A Nameless Star.’

True to its name, the protagonist was an ordinary kid who possessed a stigmata tied to the stars. His talent was undeniable—the protagonist had extraordinary potential.

Even so, at this point in the story, the protagonist hadn’t reached any particularly impressive level yet. He was still sitting at the standard level most students were at.

How he’d grow from there wasn’t something Eiros actually knew.

After jotting down most of what had happened in the earlier Chapters, Eiros then turned his focus to the last five Chapters.

And finally, here it was...

’The pale woman was first mentioned back in Chapter twenty-five, though her actual first appearance was just as an ordinary, pretty NPC in Chapter twelve.’

Page after page filled up with black ink. His messy handwriting sprawled across the coarse paper.

Eiros struggled with the quill. But that didn’t stop him from grumbling as his brain worked on autopilot, piecing together everything he could remember.

’Her name is Erness Iroha. At the Academy, she presents herself as just an ordinary student from a commoner background. Because of that, her stunning looks end up drawing a ton of attention from the noble students. She’s made plenty of them fall for her, thanks to her sweet, friendly demeanor. One of them being Eiros Clair.’

Eiros paused, letting all that information sink in, then continued after wetting his lips again.

’Eiros Clair worked up the courage to confess his feelings publicly. Erness Iroha accepted him. After that, their relationship went smoothly enough, right up until Eiros Clair caused a problem.’

The real Eiros had lured Erness into an empty warehouse, hitting on her over and over, his intentions painfully obvious. And what happened after that was exactly what played out in Chapter thirty—the one he’d already seen for himself.

’Hmm... No matter how I look at it, the real Eiros is the one who caused this whole mess. If he hadn’t done that and just kept living his normal life with that pretty ghost, his life would’ve turned out happy enough.’

After writing down everything he could into a brief summary, Eiros set the quill down, feeling his fingers ache and go numb.

Then, after a moment, a plan finally took clear shape in Eiros’s mind.

’Let’s just do what the system wants, then.’

His mind drifted to one of the abilities he had. It was called Identity Shift—something that could let him change his identity entirely.

With that, he’d be able to escape cleanly, even if Erness found out he was still alive. After all, what could that ghost possibly do if Eiros stopped being Eiros altogether?

Exactly how the ability worked was still a mystery. But Eiros figured the answer to that lay somewhere within the system itself.

Once he was satisfied everything was in order, Eiros tore the coarse paper apart—not just tore it, he shredded it down into tiny scraps, then tossed them into the trash.

His gaze then settled on himself, still dressed in that blood-soaked uniform. Soot and dust clung all over him too, thoroughly ruining his appearance.

His face scrunched up in distaste, and he decided it was time to head to the bathroom.
