How To Survive A Cute Ghost Yandere
Chapter 4: Eiros Clair

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Eiros Clair

"...This is completely ridiculous. Absolute nonsense."

The situation wasn’t just ridiculous—it was genuinely the worst thing he could possibly imagine.

How was it even possible that he’d transmigrated into the body of a student he’d just watched die in the most gruesome way, in a webtoon he’d been reading?

And it didn’t stop there—apparently he also had some kind of ability that let him come back to life after dying.

Just how absurd could all of this get?

He let out a small sigh.

"Eiros Clair."

That was the name of the student whose body he now occupied. A side character with no real role to play, just background filler who happened to become that pale woman’s victim.

From now on, he’d be living as Eiros Clair. An extra character who, in the original story, was supposed to already be dead.

"This is genuinely the worst."

Eiros forced his scattered thoughts to settle. It had already been a few hours since he’d remained in this soul-like state, too terrified to come back to life.

He didn’t know for sure whether the woman was far away by now—no, actually, he was fairly certain she’d already left. It was just that he needed time to steady himself after everything that had happened.

Considering he was just an ordinary human, not some special or chosen type, he was nothing more than the unluckiest loser imaginable.

He didn’t have the hero’s courage to take the kinds of risks people like that usually took.

His thoughts shifted.

"Damn it... I should’ve read more of that webtoon."

He muttered a curse under his breath.

If he’d known something like this was going to happen to him, he really should have spent the time to finish the whole thing. But here he was, dead after reading only about thirty Chapters out of a total of six hundred.

He was still incredibly early into the story. He had none of the deep, near-omniscient knowledge a regressor or a possessor type usually had. That alone put him in a genuinely terrible position.

For now, he was lucky to at least have the ability to come back from death. But even that wasn’t exactly a blessing. What if his body got thrown into lava, for instance?

That would mean the moment he revived, his body would die instantly all over again from the lava. That would leave him trapped as a ghost for who knew how long.

But at least he had the system.

Right...

That was just standard for this kind of cliché setup.

A system meant to help him find a way out.

Eiros bit down on his lower lip, then said in a low voice:

"Status window."

A transparent blue screen appeared before him.

[STATUS WINDOW]

Name: Eiros Clair

Title: Loser

Race: Human

Soul Tier: Awakened

Death Reset — Active

Stigmata Imprint — 0 Stored

Identity Shift — 0 Identity

In that sense, could he really call himself lucky, having abilities beyond just Death Reset?

Of course he could.

That was genuinely something to be grateful for. Because if Death Reset were his only ability, what exactly was he supposed to do in a fight where people could hurl all kinds of miracles at each other while all he could do was come back from death?

Well, in theory, he might be useful to a certain extent. But that usefulness only held if he had reliable allies to lean on.

After thinking it over for a good while, movement flickered across the system screen, catching Eiros off guard.

[QUEST STARTED]

Objective: Attend the Academy the Following Day.

Failure: You Will Be Locked in an Empty Room Together With That Ghost.

"W-what...?!"

Attend the Academy?

Get locked up with that ghost? In one single room?

His heart pounded as he imagined just how horrifying that would be. Every hair on his body stood on end, and his face drained of color.

"This... damn it...! Isn’t this basically forcing my hand?" Eiros rubbed his face in frustration as the memory of that ghost woman resurfaced. "I mean, she’s also there at the Academy, disguised as a student..."

Just moments ago, Eiros had been planning to flee the Academy entirely and get as far away from this place as humanly possible. But given what the system had just told him, that plan seemed completely out of reach now.

How could a system possibly be this cruel to its own Host? He wanted to curse and protest, but he didn’t have the energy left for either.

His mind had cleared up considerably by now, enough to let him think things through properly.

"Well. The Academy’s a pretty crowded place. She’s not going to just kill me outright in the middle of a crowd."

His gaze wandered as he took in the details of his surroundings. He’d been killed here, in this warehouse, precisely because the place was so isolated and silent. There had barely been the sound of a single footstep from outside the whole time Eiros had been stuck here.

Eiros could hear his own ragged breathing. He closed his eyes and pressed his fingers against his temples.

"Is there really no other option?"

He didn’t want to be brutally murdered by that ghost again. So if this really was the only way to avoid that woman, then Eiros would do it.

He just needed to survive until an opportunity came along to escape and leave the Academy behind for good. In the meantime, as long as he stayed careful, he could also try to grow stronger himself.

Once he’d made up his mind, Eiros hesitantly looked down at his own body, sprawled helpless and stripped bare. He’d already been stripped of his clothes earlier.

Then, in a low voice, he muttered:

"...Let me revive from death now."

The system screen appeared just beside him right after the command left his lips.

[Host has made a decision.]

[Beginning revival.]

Just like before, Eiros felt his consciousness get pulled by something impossible to explain. One second everything was dark, and the next, his awareness snapped back.

"Gah?!"

He choked.

His hand shot up to his throat on instinct, his red eyes wide, cold sweat drenching his face.

His breath came in ragged gasps as he looked down at himself, then far ahead, where the filthy, cluttered building looked hollow and eerie.

He swallowed hard. Then he quickly pulled on his clothes, soaked through with blood.

His face looked pale, his movements rushed.

’I need to get out of here fast.’

The cold air, the suffocating atmosphere—all of it sent chills crawling up his spine. A light flickered somewhere far off, and the occasional rattle of objects trembled from rats scurrying nearby.

Eiros didn’t waste a second. Once he’d pulled on his academy uniform, he looked straight toward the exit and bolted.

His hand gripped the doorknob and wrenched it open with force. His expression was tense, filled with the hope that the ghost really had left for good.

Sunlight—light he’d honestly thought he might never see again—poured down brightly, lighting up his face. Birds chirped somewhere in the distance, and the sky stretched out in a beautiful golden hue.

Eiros scanned his surroundings quickly. He tried to spot any sign of another person, but there was nothing except silence and the sounds of nature.

The warehouse had been built in the middle of a forest, not far from the Academy dormitory grounds, which let him make out a building standing not too far from where he was.

Eiros stood still for a moment, then wiped his face. A relieved smile broke across his face almost immediately.

He’d survived.
