Chapter 12: Spoiling Girls is Fun for Big Pocket Men!

"Arragon Shop?" Hua Jia stumbled backward, nearly tripping over a loose cobblestone. "That’s—that’s one of the most expensive fashion stores in the entire outer sect."

She grabbed her sister’s sleeve, eyes wide.

Hua Mia’s lips parted, but no words came out.

She stared at the ornate jade storefront visible at the end of the lane—two lion statues flanking a crimson door, gold filigree curling along every window frame, and a faint formation shimmer that only the richest shops could afford.

"Kian, she’s not wrong. A single robe there costs more than what I earn in three months doing odd jobs. You should buy stuff from other shops if you want anything."

"Come on, I want to buy a decent martial robe."

They followed him into the shop as the clerks respectfully guided them in.

The walls were lined with robes in every shade imaginable—some embroidered with defensive formations that pulsed faintly, others so light they seemed to float on their hangers.

A young clerk with a practiced smile glided toward them, her eyes scanning their plain sect robes with barely concealed disdain before landing on Kian’s confident stride.

"How may I assist the honored cultivator today?" she asked, her tone honeyed but her gaze sharp.

"I want a decent martial robe, and get these two ladies some good clothes as well."

The clerk’s eyes thinned by a hair, her smile flickering to the twins. "Of course. Let me show you our latest arrivals from the Azure Silk Pavilion."

Hua Jia shot Kian a look that screamed ’what the hell are you doing,’ but he was already following the clerk toward a rack of deep-blue robes embroidered with silver clouds.

The price tags dangled like dangling threats.

A single robe costed nearly 50 spirit stones, half their monthly rent!

The clerk slid a deep indigo robe from the rack, the fabric catching the light like liquid night. "This one is woven with Silverthread Spider silk—resistant to cuts and light flames. Perfect for a rising cultivator." She held it up against Kian’s shoulders, her fingers brushing his collarbone just a second longer than necessary. "It suits your frame."

Kian caught her gaze and held it, a slow smile spreading across his face. "I’ll take two—one in this color, and one in black. And I need something suitable for the ladies here. Something that shows they’re under my protection."

Hua Jia’s jaw dropped. "Kian, we can’t accept—"

"You can and you will," Kian cut her off, not even glancing back. "I didn’t bring you along just for the company. A cultivator’s women should look the part."

Mia blinked for a second, then, her eyes became moist.

The clerk’s smile turned brittle as she measured the twins with new eyes, reassessing their worth.

"Guys!"

She clapped her hands twice, and two junior attendants appeared from the back, arms laden with silk robes in soft greens and pale golds.

"For the young misses, might I suggest the Moonpetal series? It’s designed to complement yin-aligned constitutions and naturally disperses heat—perfect for maintaining composure in tense situations. If you know what I mean."

Kian exchanged a glance with her, intrigued.

The clothes really did look stunning. And he was sure Mia and Jia would look astounding in them.

Hua Mia’s fingers trembled as she touched the fabric, the silk sliding against her skin like water. She looked at Kian with an expression caught between gratitude and guilt. "This is too much."

"So repay it later tonight," he said with a smile.

Hua Mia’s face erupted in a furious scarlet, her lips pressing into a thin line as she swatted his arm. "Shut up! Not in front of everyone!"

Meanwhile, Hua Jia stood frozen between her sister and the attendant, her fingers hovering over a pale green robe she didn’t dare touch.

The silk gleamed under the shop’s lantern light, and she could already imagine how soft it would feel against her skin—how different it would be from the rough, patched robes she’d worn for years.

But every time she reached for the fabric, her hand stopped, as if burned by an invisible flame.

She glanced at Kian, who was now discussing sleeve length with the clerk, his voice casual and certain like he bought 50-stone robes every day. The knot in her stomach tightened. She didn’t know how to accept this.

She didn’t know how to owe someone that much.

Suddenly, Kian’s voice reached her ears. ’Don’t feel like you owe me. I told you right? You two are my sisters now. Just consider this your brother’s first gift to you.’

She looked at him with unconvinced eyes.

His voice reached her again: ’If you really feel like paying me back, you can always give me a kiss in return.’

Her eyes widened.

Hua Jia’s face went through three shades of red in under a second, her hands flying up to cover her ears as if that would block out the voice that had somehow wormed directly into her skull.

"Stop reading my mind, you creep!" she hissed, earning a confused glance from the attendant holding the green robe.

She stomped her foot, turning away from Kian with exaggerated indignation, but her fingers still found the silk, tracing its edge with a gentleness she couldn’t quite hide.

Mia watched the exchange with knowing eyes, then turned to the clerk with a smile that held none of her earlier embarrassment.

"We’ll take both," she said, her voice steady and resolute.

Kian said from the side: "And I’ll trust your judgment on accessories. Something that matches the robe’s energy, if you don’t mind."

The clerk’s brittle smile warmed by a degree as she nodded, leading Mia toward a display of jade hairpins and silver bracelets, leaving Hua Jia frozen between wanting and accepting, her hand still pressed against the fabric like she was afraid it might disappear.

Kian simply made the robes float into her hands, then went behind her and pushed her towards her sister. "Don’t be shy."

The girl took a deep breath, then hugged the new clothes tightly as she looked curiously at the accessories.

She said softly: "I am not kissing you by the way."

With his keen senses, Kian heard it clearly.

’Sure, sure,’ he said in her mind.
