Chapter 63: Scaling Beauty
Angel
I spend most of my days here in the district, a place built for people who need somewhere to call home. It’s more like a community, but people see it as a business.
To the world, my mother is just a businesswoman who deals in real estate, and this is one of her successful estates. Most successful estate.
It was built for the locals. Unlike the big cities where everything is expensive, things here are cheaper, and people run all kinds of businesses, both legal and illegal.
I don’t give a shit about her business.
This world she created may be a happy place for other people, but it was also part of what ruined my childhood.
Watching my mom stay up all night waiting for my mother to come home...
I could still picture those long, silent nights in the mansion living room, my mom staring out the front windows at the empty driveway while the clock ticked away.
All because she was too busy building her empire.
I only wish to see it crumble, and she knows it. She knows very well that her daughter would destroy everything she spent her life building.
And now she’s enjoying it with a woman who isn’t my mom.
A sharp spike of bitter anger flared in my chest, making me hit the next ball with a little too much force.
I was busy playing table tennis with my friend Carlos inside one of the huts while his twin sister was playing volleyball with the others.
The shaded wooden hut kept the midday heat off our skin, the ocean breeze drifting through the open sides.
"When are you and your sister going to leave, Carlos? You have overstayed your welcome," I said.
"Oh, Ángel, we’re just here for business. Once we’re done, we’re going back to Mexico," Carlos replied as we both kept our eyes on the ball.
He leaned over the wooden edge, flicking his wrist to return the shot with a light pop.
"Mexico isn’t far from here. You can always come and go."
"If this is about you thinking Sabrina and I are going to eat all the good snacks in the district, don’t worry so much." Carlos grinned, his dark eyes flashing with mischief as he tracked the high bounce.
I huffed.
"I am not worried about that. The omegas here would die to have me in their bed."
And I wasn’t exaggerating.
Every corner I looked, someone was trying to show me how sexy and tempting they were. The flirtatious giggles, the lingering touches on my arm, the short outfits, they were everywhere.
Even the male omegas were competing with the females.
"Then where were you last night? You didn’t show up for the after-party," Carlos asked.
He rested his non-paddle hand on his hip, raising a thick eyebrow at me across the net.
Last night? That was because of that four-eyes of a girl.
My jaw tightened until my back teeth clicked together.
Now I’d remembered how she puked inside my mouth.
I would never forget that.
A sudden shiver of absolute disgust ran down my spine just thinking about that warm, sour surge against my tongue.
That should have completely killed my mood, yet I still wanted to bury myself inside her.
Oh she so lucky I still want her.
Otherwise, I would’ve tossed her aside like a stale loaf of bread.
"Last night, I was with a pretty girl," I said.
I served the ball again, watching it slice low across the net.
"Not surprised. You’re always on your game. The pretty girl you were with... wasn’t she the same one you called ugly the other day?" he asked, laughing so hard he nearly choked.
He dropped his paddle slightly, his broad shoulders shaking as his laugh echoed around the hut.
I bit my lower lip and looked at him.
"So now you’re admitting she’s beautiful."
"I said pretty, not beautiful. Don’t change my words, Carlos..."
"Those words belong in the same category, amigo." Carlos winked, leaning forward with his paddle ready.
"Whatever."
I caught the ball with my hand, ending our game of table tennis.
"So tell me... on a scale from one to ten, how pretty is she?"
Carlos rested his hands on the table frame, leaning in with a curious, teasing grin.
I grabbed my whiskey from the table where Coco was sitting.
The glass was cold against my fingers, the ice cubes rattling as I lifted it to my mouth. I’d gone back home early this morning just to bring her to the district.
Leaving my poor kitten alone had made me feel guilty.
The orange fluff ball was purring softly on a wooden bench, her tiny nose twitching as she watched a butterfly flutter near the entrance.
That was April’s fault too.
She made me forget about my cat.... I never forget about her....
But if I had to rate April’s beauty...
I took a slow sip of the amber liquid, letting the burn coat my dry throat while I thought about it.
Should I rate how beautiful her pussy was?
Because that was what I was truly attracted to.
That tight, perfect heat that squeezed around me until I lost my damn mind was the only thing worth rating.
I took a deep breath, about to answer Carlos, when my eyes stopped on the three girls walking toward our hut.
The bright sunlight filtered through the palm leaves outside, illuminating the path leading up from the shore.
For some reason, my gaze stayed on the one in the middle.
Her black hair swayed gently as the breeze brushed past her.
The dark strands caught the golden light, floating softly around her shoulders with every step she took.
The sunflower tucked into her hair.
The bright yellow petals stood out sharply against her dark locks, tilting slightly as she walked alongside Katie and Abigail.
And those stupid round glasses... they should’ve ruined her face, but they didn’t.
They sat straight on the bridge of her pointed nose, catching the sunlight while her big emerald eyes blinked behind the clean lenses.
Her red smiling lips.
They were full, shiny, and curved into a soft, rare laugh as Katie babbled beside her.
Her exposed flat stomach.
The short fabric of her top showed off her smooth skin, rising and falling with her even breathing as she stepped across the sunlit dirt.
Her flower-patterned skirt. The colorful fabric swished against her knees, hugging her hips as she moved with an easy, natural grace I hadn’t noticed before.
For some reason, my eyes stayed glued to her as she approached.
My grip on my whiskey glass froze completely.
My chest felt tight, my lungs refusing to draw in another breath as I watched her come closer to the shade of our hut.
"Looks like her beauty broke your scale."
