Chapter 58: She Is Infecting My System

Angel

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!

I continued scrubbing so hard I could feel my tongue peeling. I can’t believe that bitch puked into my dare mouth.

I leaned over the bathroom sink, spitting violently again and again into the drain, turning the tap on high to wash away every trace of it. Then I squeezed half a tube of toothpaste onto my toothbrush and jammed it into my mouth, brushing my tongue until it was practically bleeding.

I should have just left her at the mansion. I shouldn’t have brought her here to the district.

I turned the water off and rinsed my mouth out for the tenth time, spitting hard.

This is her first time around, and she is already acting like this.

How dare she do this to me...

Fuck.

I slammed my hand on the sink. The counter rattled under the heavy thud of my fist, sending a dull sting straight up my wrist.

I watched myself in the mirror, trying to get every single bit of her puke out of my mouth.

The shower began to pour from the bathroom.

I dumped her under it so the cold water could help her get her mind back. And it better do..

I had dragged her in here, turned the knob to absolute ice, and shoved her straight under the stream before storming over to the sink to clean myself up.

I will never allow this girl to drink alcohol again.

Not even a single drop.

If she so much as looks at a glass of wine in my presence from now on, I will snatch it out of her hand and throw it into the trash.

"Hey, you four eyes, are you done in there?" I called.

The only thing separating us was the shower curtain.

"My head hurts... it’s like it’s going to explode."

Her voice came out weak, muffled, and completely miserable over the noise of the shower.

"It better explode, because I don’t understand why you exploded inside my mouth... my mouth," I repeated.

I gripped the edge of the curtain tightly, my teeth grinding together as the foul memory tried to creep back into my throat.

Then she stopped talking. The silence stretched, so I pulled the curtain open.

"Four eyes," I called.

She was on the floor, naked, completely drenched by the running water.

Her eyes were still open, though.

"My name is April... I am not Four Eyes... My name is April January... I don’t want to change my name... please don’t change my name."

What on earth is she mumbling about this time?

I squeezed my eyes shut, taking a deep breath to keep from losing my temper completely.

I stepped over the edge of the tub, turned off the cold water tap, and reached down to grab her wet arms.

I picked her up and helped her stand.

Her body was freezing to the touch, her skin covered in goosebumps as she wobbled heavily against my chest.

"You stand properly and take a proper shower so the water can cover your whole body."

I grabbed a bar of soap from the dish, lathering it up quickly between my palms before rubbing it over her shivering shoulders.

"You don’t have to lecture me over and over again... please stop doing that."

She pouted, her head lolling back against my collarbone, her eyes squinting up at me without her glasses on.

I sighed lazily, pinching the bridge of my nose.

This is so childish. And I can’t believe I am still here.

I grabbed a large white towel from the rack and wrapped it tightly around her dripping body, pulling her out and onto the dry bathroom floor.

I am supposed to be at the beach with the others, but instead I’m babysitting a grown woman.

I blame myself for inviting her.

I ran the dry towel through her soaking wet hair, rubbing it in fast, rough motions.

I thought her lifestyle was too lame, always repeating the same boring routine for years.

Was changing it really such a bad idea?

I had wanted to drag her out of her quiet little shell, to force her to see the wild world outside her library books and her book of a bedroom.

Now I was paying the price for it in full.

I called the housekeeper to tidy the room and asked the chef to prepare some hangover soup, or anything that could help.

The staff moved quickly, bringing in a steaming bowl of herbal broth, a glass of water, and a simple pair of oversized grey sweatpants with a soft cotton shirt.

I can’t believe I’m the one helping this girl get dressed and feeding her.

The only person I feed is Coco...

I have never done this for anyone.

Not for any of the girls I fucked, not for any of my friends, not for a single soul in my entire life.

I had always been the one serviced, the one taken care of while everyone else bent over backward to please me.

I hate to admit it, but interacting with this girl is changing my behavior.

She is infecting my system..

From my dick getting stuck inside her for hours to actually telling a girl that I crave her...

I don’t remember the last time I told a girl something like that.

Usually they’re the ones saying they want me. They were the ones begging for my attention, calling, and trying to get into my bed.

But with April, my whole system was acting up.

I am going to scold her stupid ass when she feels better tomorrow.

I sat her up on the edge of the bed, blowing on a spoonful of the hot soup before pressing it against her pale, dry lips.

They said it would help with her migraine and stop the vomiting.

She swallowed it slowly, her eyes half-closed as she leaned her heavy forehead against my bare shoulder between bites.

Why drink when you can’t fucking handle it?

I set the half-empty bowl down on the nightstand once she refused to take another bite. I laid her back against the fluffy white pillows, pulling the thick duvet up over her shoulders.

I tucked her in and hoped to finally leave and get back to the party.

I turned around, taking one step toward the door to head back out to the beach where I belonged.

Then she grabbed my hand.

Her warm fingers wrapped tight around my wrist, her grip surprisingly strong despite how weak she looked.

"Please don’t leave me... I don’t want to be alone... I’m scared to stay here."

Her raspy voice was barely a whisper, her eyes fluttering open just enough to search my face in the dim room light.

I stared down at her hand holding onto me.

I let out a long breath through my nose, my shoulders dropping as I pulled my wrist free, only to slide under the heavy covers beside her.

I don’t know how, but I ended up lying beside her, watching her slowly close her eyes as she tried to fall asleep.

"I can’t wait to leave... I am tired of staying in that lonely big house... I hate staying in that mansion."

Hearing her mumble the word mansion, I knew she was talking about home.

I turned my head on the pillow, looking at her soft profile in the quiet room.

"Why do you want to leave the mansion? Isn’t it what you and your mother wanted? A luxurious lifestyle?"

It was obvious.

I had seen her mother posting expensive things all over social media, living like a fucking gold digger.

Posting photos of designer bags, fancy dinners, and high-end trips all over her feeds for the world to see.

Spending my mother’s money.

Those two always acted like they were on business trips, when in reality they were having one endless honeymoon while my mommy rotted 6 feet underground.

Every time I thought about my mother’s empty room back at the house, a cold knot formed in my chest.

"I don’t want anything else... all I want is to leave the mansion and find my dad... I don’t know why he left me with her... I don’t like staying with my new step-sister... she is always mean to me... she doesn’t even want to see my face, always calling me ugly...."

Her words broke off into a small, quiet hiccup, her brow furrowing slightly in her sleep.

I stared at her, my fingers twitching against the sheet.

"I’m only mean to you because your mother stole my family’s happiness for hers.

"But I’m not happy... I’m just lonely in this mansion."

She shifted closer to my side, her cold nose pressing lightly against the crook of my neck as she sought my body heat.

I gently touched her face as she continued mumbling in her sleep

My fingers traced the soft curve of her cheek, brushing a stray lock of dark hair away from her forehead.

"No one is ever happy in the mansion."

I said, I don’t know why I couldn’t leave her but I ended up staying with her and sleeping by her side.
