Chapter 53: Beach Party
Chapter 53: Beach Party
April
Angel made me put on a bikini for the beach party, saying I had to blend in with the party.
The thin fabric clung to my skin, making me feel completely exposed.
And mind me, everyone at the beach, mostly the girls, all looked like sluts, and I was one of them.
At least I wore a crop top.
I kept pulling the hem of the short shirt down toward my belly button, trying to cover as much skin as I possibly could.
Unlike this one beside me, who was wearing shorts and a light jacket. Her boobs were all exposed, not even showing any signs of embarrassment.
She walked with her chest puffed out, strutting across the sand like she owned every single grain of it.
What a shameless devil.
"What? Why are you staring at me like that?" Angel asked, cutting her eyes over to me as we crossed the crowded boardwalk.
I turned sideways, not ready for her annoying tantrums. I looked away quickly, pretending to be very interested in the ocean cool waves.
"Angel, baby... you made it to my wedding party."
A loud, high-pitched voice called out over the pounding music.
A stunning blonde came rushing out from under a large shade tent, throwing her arms around Angel’s neck. The two exchanged kisses, pressing their lips together right in front of me.
But wait a minute. I know this girl.
I blinked, taking a quick step back to study her features.
This is the blonde on all fours.
I know it looks silly, but I do keep the image of girls Angel screwed in her bedroom, and this one happened to be the one I saw that night, the night I first saw Angel naked.
Did she just say my wedding party?
As in, this girl is the one getting married?
After their awkward kiss greeting, just hoping she doesn’t do that to me, the blonde finally pulled back, wiping a speck of lip gloss from her cheek.
She stared at me, scanning me from head to toe.
"Is this your new toy girl, the one you are choosing to replace me?" she said. Her eyes still gave me that look that made me feel unwelcome, like I was an ugly bug that had crawled onto her designer shoes.
"This is April. We live together," Angel announced, her arm brushing lightly against mine as she stood her ground.
"Oh..." Her eyes lit up in realization. "The ghost girl who doesn’t pay rent. Couldn’t recognize her. I knew those glasses looked familiar."
She extended her hand, her long, painted fingernails practically poking the air between us.
"Hey, I’m Abigail Sanchez. Nice to meet you."
I shook her hand, keeping my grip quick and light.
"April Morningstar."
"Whoa, Angel, she has your last name. Did you marry her for revenge because I got married?" Abigail laughed, placing a manicured hand over her chest in fake shock.
"No, I’m not married to her. She just happens to be my mother’s wife’s daughter." Angel shrugged, keeping her voice completely flat.
"Ohhh, she is the stepsister you always complain about. Damn, did you wreck her? She is carrying your scent."
"Okay, Abigail, show me your new Sanchez of a husband." Angel cut her off smoothly, shutting down the topic before it could go any further.
Scent...
My heart did a sudden drop into my stomach. I had to sniff myself, discreetly raising my arm toward my nose, thinking I was carrying Angel’s pheromones on me.
This is bad because everyone will know that my stepsister is banging me. My cheeks burned red with sudden shame as I pulled my crop top tighter around my chest.
I don’t even want to be in this place, but Angel was by my side, and she hadn’t left me for a second.
Wherever she went, I followed. That was her number one rule.
She had grabbed my wrist firmly the second we stepped out of her car, making sure I stayed within arm’s reach.
This district is full of predators. As long as I’m by her side, they won’t approach.
The rough-looking Alphas hanging around the bar tents took one look at Angel’s scowl and immediately averted their eyes.
We stopped by a wooden hut set back from the main beach area. Too many guys were drinking and playing snooker, the heavy scent of beer and sweat blowing out into the ocean breeze.
"Javier, this is Angel. And Angel, my husband, Javier," Abigail introduced her husband, stepping up next to a tall man leaning against a snooker table.
He looked a bit older, like a middle-aged man, with grey streaking through his dark hair and heavy lines around his eyes, and Abigail looked much younger than him.
"So you are Javier Sanchez, the new husband of Abigail." Angel stopped right in front of him, looking him up and down with open judgment.
"Hello, Angel Morningstar. I have heard so much about you, it’s so nice to meet you..."
Javier extended his hand, expecting a handshake from Angel, but Angel just looked at his hand.
Her crimson eyes remained ice-cold, not making a single move to take it. Javier looked embarrassed and pulled it back, clearing his throat awkwardly and wiping his palm on his shorts.
"You look old for her," Angel said without a filter, then looked at Abigail. "Seriously, your mom couldn’t find anyone better and younger?"
"Hahaha. I may look older, but I’m young inside. Don’t worry, Angel. I will take care of my wife, Abigail, as long as I am alive," he said, wrapping his arm around his wife and pulling her closer to his side.
"You better keep your promise. If she ever comes crying to me, you won’t live to see another day." Angel’s voice dropped an octave, a sharp, real threat lacing every word.
"Understood." Javier nodded quickly, his posture stiffening under her glare.
This is so weird and awkward. The old Alpha man is acting like Angel is older than him.
He was practically bowing his head to a girl half his age, his own Alpha energy shrinking away into nothing. Even everyone around looks intimidated by her presence. The guys playing snooker had lowered their voices, pretending to focus entirely on their game just to avoid making eye contact with her.
Suddenly, a loud, angry voice cut through the heavy quiet near the back of the hut.
"Big brother, that is the girl who slammed my head the other night. She is the bastard. You need to teach her a lesson., big brother.." A familiar man shoved his way through the group of snooker players, pointing a finger directly at Angel.
