Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Sovereign on the Spire

The hundredth floor of the National Hunter Association Headquarters felt as cold as a mountain grave.

All forty mahogany conference chairs were flipped over, their polished leather seats coated in a thick layer of frost. High-definition tactical displays flickered wildly, casting distorted red light across the room as circuit boards melted under the sheer static pressure rising through the central elevator shaft.

President William sat curled against the base of his obsidian desk.

His tailor-made suit was soaked with sweat and dried blood from his ruptured nose. His trembling hands held a gold-plated snub-nosed revolver—an enchanted weapon loaded with six anti-S-Rank mana bullets. He aimed the weapon blindly at the open, dark elevator shaft forty feet away.

"Stay back..." William whimpered, his teeth chattering uncontrollably as the room’s air temperature plummeted to forty degrees below zero. "I am the President of the National Association! I have immunity... granted by the World Council in Geneva! You can’t touch me..."

STEP.

The sound was quiet. It was the simple click of a polished leather boot landing on the frost-covered carpet.

Renan stepped out of the hollow shaft, floating weightlessly onto the carpeted floor before lowering his feet.

He didn’t wear armor. He didn’t carry a weapon. His sleek, midnight-black combat coat fluttered gently in the cold draft. Yet the ambient pressure radiating from his frame—driven by his 10,380 Strength and 18,180 Mana—was so immense that the heavy mahogany conference table floated three inches off the ground before snapping in half under the gravitational stress.

His dark purple pupils burned through the dim room like twin, cold stars.

Behind him, Shadow General Ignis stepped into the room, flanked by Shadow Commanders Thorne, Zephyr, and Ren, along with fifty Shadow Knights in perfect, terrifying formation.

Renan walked toward William with slow, unhurried steps.

"President William," Renan said softly. His quiet voice didn’t just vibrate in the room—it echoed inside William’s skull, rattling his jawbone. "You opened a Class-SS subterranean gate, released thirty thousand monsters, and condemned two million civilians in Sector 0 just to buy yourself ten minutes of life."

William’s face twisted into a hysterical scowl as he tightened his grip on the golden revolver.

"THEY WERE COLLATERAL DAMAGE!" William shrieked, his voice cracking as tears of pure madness streamed down his hollow cheeks. "I built this country’s Hunter hierarchy! I raised Apex Guild! I created the system that kept this nation safe from the gates for twenty years! What is two million weaklings compared to the stability of the state?!"

Renan stopped five paces away. He looked down at the old man in the dirt, his purple eyes filled with a deep, absolute disgust.

"You didn’t build a hierarchy to protect humanity, William," Renan whispered. "You built a cattle farm. You used F-Rank porters—desperate men, sick families, young kids with no choices—as sacrificial mana-batteries for your corrupt guilds while you pocketed billions from the black market."

"I AM AN S-RANK LEADER! I AM A PILLAR OF HUMANITY!" William roared, snapping under the sheer psychological weight.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

William pulled the gold revolver’s trigger six times in rapid succession.

Six glowing, red anti-S-Rank mana bullets—each engineered to pierce three feet of solid adamantine armor—shot across the ten-foot gap at hypersonic speed, aimed straight at Renan’s forehead and heart.

Renan didn’t dodge. He didn’t activate a skill. He didn’t even blink.

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!

All six anti-S-Rank bullets struck Renan’s forehead and chest plate—and flattened instantly into harmless, circular copper discs, dropping onto the plush carpet like weightless coins.

Not a single mark appeared on Renan’s skin. The passive physical density of his [Sovereign Body (Rank-EX)] treated the high-tier military ammunition as if it were soft raindrops hitting a mountain of solid tungsten.

[Physical Check:] [Renan Vitality: 10,580] [Anti-S-Rank Bullet Output: 450] [Result: Absolute Ineffectiveness.]

William’s jaw dropped so low his breath hitched in his throat. The gold-plated revolver slipped from his numb, frozen fingers, clattering uselessly against the floorboards.

"H-His body..." William whimpered, backing up until his spine hit the glass wall behind his desk. "With your bare skin...? You’re... you’re not a human Hunter..."

"No," Renan whispered, stepping directly into William’s personal space.

He reached out his right hand, wrapping his bare fingers around William’s throat and lifting his three-hundred-pound body six feet into the air with one arm.

GRAB!

William thrashed wildly, his boots kicking empty air, his fingernails frantically clawing at Renan’s wrist, but Renan’s arm remained as unyielding as cold iron.

"This is for every nameless porter you sacrificed in the dark," Renan said, his voice dropping into a dark, terrifying register as dark violet lightning began to erupt from his palm.

[Target: Live National Association President (William) Detected.] [Initiating Final Forced Extraction...]

THRUSSH!

A thick, pitch-black shadow spear erupted directly from Renan’s palm, driving straight through the center of William’s chest plate into his heart.

"GAAAAAAAH!"

William’s final, blood-curdling shriek tore through the hundredth floor, echoing out through the shattered glass windows and carrying across the entire silent Capital City below.

The extraction was brutal and absolute.

William’s high-tier political mana and S-Rank life force were violently drained, turning into dark purple streams that poured straight into Renan’s raised palm. His body shriveled into a thin, brittle husk in seconds, his hair turning white before caving into fine, grey dust that scattered into the rainy wind blowing through the broken penthouse window.

DING! DING! DING!

A golden-crimson system panel flared across Renan’s vision, illuminating the entire hundredth floor in a brilliant blood-red hue:

[Forced Extraction Successful!] [Target: Association President (William) Extracted!] [Attributes Extracted!] [Strength +210] [Agility +180] [Vitality +240] [Mana +520] [Skill Acquired: Active - Authority Command (Rank-S)]

Renan released his grip. The grey ash of President William blew away into the dark stormy night sky over Sector 0.

Renan closed his eyes, inhaling a deep breath as the final attributes settled into his core. His dark violet aura stabilized, forming a sharp, diamond-like sheen around his black coat.

DING!

A global System Notification—visible only to Renan—flared in his vision with ancient dragon sigils:

[VOLUME 1 COMPLETE: The Abyssal Rebirth & Guild Apex Demise!] [Main Milestone Achieved: Total Destruction of Guild Apex & National Hunter Association.] [Faction Status Updated: The Ominous Faction is now recognized as the Absolute National Sovereign.] [Territory Acquired: Sector 0, Sector 1, Sector 2, and Subterranean Gate Vaults.] [System Evolution Status: Tier-3 Monarch Awakening Fully Stabilized.]

Renan opened his eyes. The glowing purple hue in his pupils had deepened into an absolute, dark violet void that seemed to swallow the light around him.

He walked over to the shattered floor-to-ceiling window at the edge of the hundredth floor, looking out over the sprawling metropolitan city below.

The rain had stopped. The dark violet clouds stretched across the horizon for three hundred miles, completely covering the nation. Below, the streets were quiet—thousands of citizens, surviving Hunters, and military units stood behind barricades, looking up at the illuminated spire of the Association building.

Renan raised his right hand, extending his index finger toward the sky.

"Ignis," Renan commanded quietly.

"Command me, my Sovereign."

"Broadcast to the nation."

FWHOOSH!

Shadow Commander Zephyr stepped forward, tapping his shadowy staff against the floorboards. A hundred holographic communication arrays across the city flared back to life simultaneously, linking Renan’s silhouette to every electronic screen, smartphone, and television display across the continent.

Renan didn’t scream. He didn’t raise his voice. He stood atop the hundredth floor, looking directly into the floating camera drone twenty yards away.

"To the citizens and Hunters of this country," Renan’s voice rang out, quiet, calm, and carrying across millions of speakers nationwide with absolute, divine authority.

"The National Hunter Association is dead. The corrupt guilds that traded your lives for profit have been erased."

He paused, sweeping his cold gaze over the silent metropolitan expanse below.

"From this night forward, this nation is designated as the Ominous Sovereign Territory," Renan declared. "There are no F-Rank porters. There are no S-Rank elites. There is only one law: bow to the Sovereign, or be extracted into my army."

Across the entire country, millions of citizens and Hunters dropped onto their knees in absolute, speechless awe and terror.

Renan turned his back on the city lights, walking toward the center of the ruined penthouse suite.

Boss Victor stepped out of the shadow portal, holding an encrypted black slate, his face pale with excitement.

"L-Lord Renan!" Victor stammered, bowing deeply. "The remaining three provincial capitals have officially signed total surrender documents! All black market vaults and dungeon gate licenses across five sectors have been transferred under your name!"

"And foreign reactions?" Renan asked coldly.

Victor tapped the data slate, pulling up international news feeds from Washington, London, and Tokyo.

"The World Hunter Council in Geneva has declared our territory a ’Class-Global Calamity Zone,’" Victor reported. "They are mobilizing the International Joint Consortium—a force of twelve World-Class Hunters and fifty thousand elite troops from three continents. They plan to blockade our sea borders within two weeks."

A cold, magnificent smile spread across Renan’s face as he looked over his four Shadow Commanders and two thousand eight hundred Shadow Knights standing in silent formation.

"Twelve World-Class Hunters," Renan whispered softly, his dark purple pupils glowing with an unholy, absolute desire for war.

"Tell them to hurry. My army is hungry."

Renan stepped into his own shadow, his body dissolving into a violent vortex of pitch-black smoke, taking his shadow legion with him into the dark.

The hundredth floor of the Association Headquarters was left completely silent—a hollow shell of glass and marble, standing as an eternal monument to the death of the old world and the birth of a new, absolute Monarch.
